RobC Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I'm currently (and have been for the past 16 months) addicted to Eve-Online. You can find me in there as Cowan, in the Firma corporation. Still like the WW2 shooters though - Medal of Honour, Call of Duty, et al.
ChrisH Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Day of Defeat is the only game that keeps me interested

RobC Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Nah, you wouldn't all fit. At least not while there's still six computers in the house! (Three desktops & three laptops...)

I, on the other hand have 3 working PC's a borrowed laptop and 2 old PC'sgathering dust.

ConTheITGuy Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I on the other hand have my school laptop and a (barely) working, cheap, desktop - and a bunch of spares useful for... well not much really! Andy. PS. Was addicted to Eve-online for a while - it was the game I had been waiting for since Frontier! Play Counter-strike, day of defeat and similar at a local LAN. 1
Dos_Box Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Would one of the Mods please move this thread to Gaming in the Fun Stuff area which has been there for 2 days now. Thank you. edit: [done - tarquel]
browolf Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 final fantasy xi. i've been playing since january. it's only about £7 / month and you can get the main game and the 2 expansions off amazon for about £22 total. it's huge. what with updates. it's taking up about 6gb now! There there are about 11 jobs u can have. you can change between them whenever you like and if you get 1 to level 18 you can have two at once. some of the jobs are advanced ones which you can only get at level 30 and often u need high level help (e.g. lvl75). Anyway the bottom line is that even if you do a job for a bit and decide you'd rather try something else the time spent isnt wasted. you may find you need that job again later. Some jobs go together better than others. I like the partying mechanics too. Once you get to level 12 or so. experience becomes very slow. the only way round this is to join a party and fight much harder monsters for up to 6 or 7 times the experience. Joining a party is relatively easy. u just put up a "flag" which makes you appear on a list of people searching for parties. You dont have to beg and you dont have to know loads of people. people pick you, anonymously.
ninjabeaver Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 The Matrix Online. I'm in game on the Output server playing a guy called NinjaBeaver. £18 off of http://www.play.com for the game, and about £7 a month. It's quite cool but getting a bit repetitive at the moment. It's a new one on the scene so i'll give it another month to improve.
tarquel Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 I *think* I read the world is a bit of a "beta" stage atm... they'll be adding stuff over the coming months (or longer) i believe. Cheers, Nath
ninjabeaver Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 Yeah, sort of. Sony Online (SOE) have just purchased the game from Monolith, so I might hang on a bit with it. I'm quite tempted to go for EQ2 or WoW and also buy Guild Wars because theres no subscription on that. What's your opinion on the best out of WoW and EQ2 seeing as I'm an Ultima Online fan (on the free shards)? Big into R P G's. Just finished the new Bard's Tale, worth a laugh but not the £30 asking price and not really an RPG more a fantasy topdown Gauntlet type game.
Geoff Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 WoW is all about the PvP. EQ2 is a PvE game. So it basically boils down to what you want to do? Smash other peoples heads in or smash computer generated bad guys heads in?
ChrisH Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 I'm more fond of a running bunny hop with a slight turn and a shot that blows their helmet off
ninjabeaver Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 EQ2 is really taking my fancy at the moment. I like the R P G element in online games. Being able to craft and fight is cool. EQ2 is more fantasy based as well with non-cartoony graphics.
browolf Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 final fantasy xi is PvE orientated. ffxi screenshots(googled): http://wavechan.darkwoodinc.com/FFXI/
tarquel Posted June 30, 2005 Author Posted June 30, 2005 TS3 on the PS2 really rocks too btw ppl rancidbones is my/my mates handle - only on it at mine tho Cheers, Nath PS Will comment more when I have more time lol
Alex Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Eve-Online Gunstar Zero & Last Starfighter Reikoku Corporation, BoB If you havent tried Eve and you like online gaming, I recommend you try it.
tarquel Posted July 5, 2005 Author Posted July 5, 2005 @Alex: It blew me away! I wish I had started "from the start" as it was a bit too boggling and deep for me. Was the Exodus good btw? N.
