    Brilliant

I totally agree with these posts, my nephew is playing games he shouldnt but he never repeats what goes on the game. In a game you dont have to worry about "tomorrow" my nephew knows right from wrong yet in a game he does what he wants. We as a people have always been violent and that will not change over night, as bad as it is to say this we still murder over money and love so blaming games for 1 death a year really is OTT. If some one has it in them to kill, they have it in them regardless.

Interviewer: What would you say is your greatest weakness?
Me: Well, I do sometimes have difficulty distinguishing fantasy and reality
    Interviewer: And your greatest strength?
    Me:.....I'm Batman.

Since giving up almost entirely on Video Games. I have lost even more weight, I enjoy life, I have real friends and don't feel like life is passing me by.

If only I could go back in time to when I was a PFY and give myself a kick up the coccyx and force myself to go out more! :-D

Hilarious update: turns out ITV are the ones who can't tell the difference between video games and reality

ITV documentary can’t tell the difference between gaming and reality; mistakes Arma 2 for secret IRA film | PC Gamer

    Whoops!

Its a load of rubbish anyway, I can tell the difference between the two, mainly at work you have to grind all day with no leveling up :P

Oh I dunno, I've levelled up a bunch of times - my pay has increased by about 50% in 5 years. Seems like leveling up to me!

Sounds like you're only a couple of levels away from completing the game!

I frequently go about life thinking "I really wish I could pod that ****"

Thankfully I don't have a problem distinguishing my shooting games from real life.

In real life if I was going to Shoot you in the head, I wouldn't be standing up, I wouldn't bunny hop, I'd have a scope with a proper variable zoom, I'd have a proper Bi-Pod to rest it on, and I wouldn't be wearing desert camo gear in the snow.

Couple of points on this are:
    - the study found that people knew they were in real life
    - people reacted with their conditioned response - in other words, if you were, for the sake of argument, about to murder someone, then you'd try to do it by attempting to press some buttons.

I'm not going to worry about this until we start reading about people being battered to death with Wii remotes or strangled by joypad cables.

Slightly better coverage of this here:
'Game transfer phenomena' and the problem of perception | Technology | guardian.co.uk

And quite a nice Mario-themed discussion here:
Consensual Hallucination : The Last Word On Nothing

Right, lunchtime. I'm off to buy three identical pieces of fruit and some ammo.
