Hi any one here using Link2ict for Internet. we are looking to move away anyone have any suggestions on a new provide?

Hi I am interested in hearing from other schools, in particular Birmingham schools to see whether they have seen an increase in SPAM over the last few weeks/months. I have been getting a lot of SPAM over the last few weeks as well as a significant number of staff in our school. BGFL recently sent an email regarding problems with SPAM. A lot of the SPAM would get blocked and be filtered with the PMM filtering system that BGFL introduced a year or two ago but now it seems to be bypassing that and coming straight through our inboxes. In particular lots of banking ones are coming through most trying to be HSBC or Natwest. Have other schools experienced the same problem? I be interested in hearing how other schools tackle problems with SPAM. We are using Exchange 2007 and know we could look into Forefront but am worried about the extra administration this could potentially cause and potentially the more expensive licensing we would have to consider for our schools agreement as we would need to buy the enterprise desktop CALs... At a recent training session I went to another colleague said he recommended mailmarshall (is quite cheap and works very well in blocking lots of SPAM) but said he becomes a daily chore to ensure nothing legitemate email is being blocked. Apparantly can cause more calls to IT because some emails will get blocked. I am going to have to do something about this as it's getting worse. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks

Is anyone on be BGFL network able to VPN tonight, are you able to access their servers? I cant seem access Google when connected via VPN either. help

Hiya all, Long time, no post... back working in a school in brum. We've recently upgraded our wireless system and we're looking to introduce BYOD support for staff and students. We're currently a little unclear about the birmingham grid for learning's stance on BYOD. Is there anybody who is currently part of BGFL who is already providing BYOD? How do you do it? What obstacles have you faced regarding the grid? From our current understanding, to stick to BGFL's terms of use we would only be able to provide students access to our terminal server gateway on their own devices - accessing the internet through a TS session on our system rather than any direct access to the internet. Ideally we'd want to give them access to the internet - which we can have them authenticate for against our Lightspeed box to provide filtering and logging against their name. Would love to hear from anyone who's already doing BYOD within the grid so we can finally work out which direction to take this in. Is there any official policy or reasoning with the grid that would prevent us from providing the access that we'd like to? Thanks

Hello Edugeek! Has anyone had any experience with Link 2 ICT changing for password resets for CRISP? I've been in touch with our account manager at Link 2 ICT and from our conversation it sounds like this is something that BCC have sanctioned. Feels rather difficult to justify this if BCC also insist that school use CRISP. The school in question don't have a BGFL connection or pay for UAG as they have previously just walked the 40 metres to the school next door that still has a BGFL connection. More than happy to have my assumptions corrected here, but interested if anyone has managed to speak to BCC about this? Many thanks!

Hi, Tips for using manage.bgfl365.uk IDaaS interface If you are using the select all button make sure you have scrolled all the way to the bottom of the page as it loads the "presences" on demand so a select all will only select the presences that have been loaded on screen. I haved asked Link2ICT/Groupcall to exclude syncing users from our MIS who do not have an e-mail address field populated as I don't wan't the dinnerladies and cleaners being synced from MIS and making the list of presences really long.
