I use the Blackberry internet service to pull my emails via our OWA. Also pulls my Yahoo and Hotmail too. There's no need for the redirector then.

We've just started deploying a Ruckus system and so far it's been amazing. Two access points have replaced six traditional ones and the coverage is 100%. The building we've put it in is an old convent with some walls two feet thick! The old Cisco stuff was reliable but didn't cope that well with the thick walls and we had a lot of dead spots. The Ruckus stuff reaches the places other access points don't! Purchased everything from Mark at Net-ctrl and they went out of their way to sort quick shipment to us. You will have to sign a NDA but you should get better pricing and maybe even flexible licensing e.g. only pay for CALs as they are activated or... http://www.hmailserver.com/ & http://www.squirrelmail.org to get yourself what Virgin Media / BlueYonder use (for free!)

Vote for Be here... We are close to an exchange and get 22Mbps/1.5Mbps all day long. The BeBox (router) that they supply can be a bit flaky so we installed a Cisco 857 instead. Annual saving compared to the LEA £8,000 - £268 whatever that is! The connection has been 100% reliable so far.

The only issue I had with DynDNS was that I have to delegate our sch.uk domain to them as they can't be a registrar for them. Not a big problem as Telewest delegated no problem.

forgot to mention... don't rely on the wireless key for security - there are plenty of ways to lift it from one laptop and move to wherever!

We have a dedicated wireless Vlan & filter through SchoolGuardian. We also enforce MAC authentication so the students have to bring their laptops to us before they can get on the network. We also stipulate that they must have our AV software installed which reports back to us any problems (F-Secure, not brill but free via our LEA!). As the student laptops are 'unauthenticated' they drop into the default group on Guardian which is heavily filtered. This makes the monitoring easy. There are duty of care issues which need the logging so be careful if you just tip them out through another connection. Steve

Yes! Threaten them with the DPA & IOP acts. Also mention that they supplied you with unlicensed software years ago and you still haven't had proof of ownership. They leave me alone now! Another trick - when they ring say "hang on while I go get him/her". Put them on hold and go carry on your normal working day. If you really want to have a laugh, pick the phone up every couple of minutes & say "they're on their way". Also works well with international call centres

We've had some problems with HPs that use their Director software. We got it working by giving domain users read/write permisions on the Director folder. roymorden..... Nigel's Roy?

I've been testing SchoolGuardian and not had any problems apart from a NIC it didn't like when we first set it up. We're about to go live with a new box - I'll post an update next week.

Once you have got your W2003 OS installed, make the server a member server. If you log on as a domain admin when you install Exchange 2003, everything will go fine, forestprep etc will run no problem.

Make sure the account you're using to bind LDAP is in the Base DN that you specify for the user directory. I've set a few of these up now & that always seems to be the problem people have. Try rebuilding the IP stack - if it's corrupt or not properly bound the symptoms you describe happen. To do this - Open a command prompt and type the following: netsh int ip reset [ log_file_name ] e.g. netsh int ip reset c:\log.txt
