We use the 11" Dell Chromebook 3100 4GB 32GB (previously used 3180's) in our primaries. We have around 300 of these devices, have been using for around 3+ years and so far have only replaced one screen.

There is an option in Google Meet in the bottom left hand corner (blue shield). This lets you turn off quick access which means everyone needs to ask to be admitted including those as part of the organisation. Hopefully this helps in the future

Update on this...we realised that RM were blocking NTP port 123. We have unblocked this port for our CloudKey IP and all is working fine.

This is also a great service which we use at some of our smaller schools

The EntrySign MIS Sync (as far as I'm aware) will only write back to SIMS when students have signed into the screen as late. Whichever the reason they provide will write the correct mark. When you use EntrySign live you only see the staff/visitors/contractors etc who are on site, and then a list of pupils who have signed in or out late. You won't see the whole school attendance. I'm not entirely sure how the marks and timings have been configured as the office took the lead on this. I'm sure students have a grace period of 5-10 minutes after registration where they aren't classed as late, but any student signing in after this will be marked as such. Hope that is helpful?

Have been an iPhone user since the original iPhone and I normally need to replace the cable 6 months to a year of owning a new device. The cables are notoriously flimsy. I agree with the whole reducing carbon footprint idea, but perhaps it would've made more sense to either ship with a USB A cable, or ship with USB-C bricks for at least a couple years before removing.

However the cable that comes in the box is lightning to USB-C. Not too many people will have USB-C bricks laying around...

We enabled 2FA for O365 accounts here around without the P1 license and being unable to exclude school IP ranges. Staff moaned a lot in the beginning and still do occasionally, but we give the same response of 'we're keeping you and your data safe'. I would definitely try and persevere and enable on all staff accounts if you can.

Are you using Google Classroom? You could create a whole school class with every pupil in and then add your videos to the stream.

Feeling pretty stupid that I didn't solve this earlier, but somebody had plugged a rogue wireless router into the network which was handing out the wrong addresses. Have removed and issue is now solved.

Hi Edugeek, We seem to be having an issue with one of our SSID's. We have three different SSID's: SSID 1: This is what all wireless devices connect to SSID 2: This is the one we use to enroll Chromebooks and they then pick up SSID 1 from G-Suite. SSID 3. Guest Network Over the last week or so we seem to be getting an erratic number of clients not being able to connect to SSID 1, however some devices work absolutely fine with no problem. I am attempting to enrol Chromebooks this morning and am getting the 'Network not available' message after enrolling fine with SSID 2 and then picking up SSID 1. I have performed network_diag --hosts command on an unenrolled Chromebook. All pass when connected to SSID 2, but when connected to SSID 1 they all fail with the message DNS resolution error. Having looked through the Aerohive AP's through HiveManager both SSID 1 and SSID 2 appear identical, so I'm unsure where the problem here would lie. EDIT: Just checking on two Chromebooks. One Chromebook picks up the correct IP address and DNS servers, however another Chromebook picks up incorrect IP address and DNS servers despite being connected to the same SSID... If anybody has any ideas, any help at all would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance

Would I need to set up an NTP server on the DC or is it as simple as just popping the address into services > NTP?

Hi all, We have been having an issue with the time/date settings on our Ubiquiti Cloud Key where it is set to 2018. We have tried amending the statistics timezone in user interface to 'browser's', 'site's', 'controller's' and 'UTC' but to no avail. I believed it was an issue with RM blocking access to their NTP server as this works fine at another site where RM isn't the ISP. I went into services > NTP and changed the NTP server to the one RM have recommended me to use but I'm still getting the incorrect time/date. I have spoken to Ubiquiti on many occasions and they have been unable to get this working. They didn't believe it to be a firewall setting as I assumed above, but instead had me compacting the database and restoring from a backup etc which I found pretty useless. Has anyone else had this issue and if so could you offer any guidance on how to fix? Many thanks

Hi all, Bit of a strange one...we have shared computers in some of the classes for staff and we use RM Unify for SSO of both O365 and Google. We occasionally run into an issue where one user will log into the computer but Chrome will pick up the profile and sync settings of another user who has logged into that computer. As you can imagine its a bit of an issue that users are getting access to another staff members bookmarks and auto saved passwords. Just wondering if anybody else has the same setup and has had the same issue as me? Thanks

We use Chromebooks in a hybrid environment and it works fantastically. Admin staff and teaching staff use Windows devices, and all students use Chromebooks and iPads. We have gone down the RM Unify route so that all logins are unified and now we are using Apple School Manager to create unified Apple ID's. If it wasn't for Smart Notebook being so well cherished by staff I would ideally have all staff using Chromebooks/Chromeboxes too.

We use them across our primaries of around 1200 students and they are excellent. As mentioned by others claim your G-Suite, enrol your devices and enable domain name autocomplete to make it easier for students to log in. In my experience students pick up logging in very quickly in KS2, but when it comes to KS1 as mentioned it depends if you have the right teacher who is willing to be patient. We don't use generic 'pupil1@...' accounts and I would avoid using them as then you are unable to accurately report on search history etc.

We set ours up using Meraki and are DEP enrolled so auto set up out of the box. No requirement for a Mac running Configurator or a sync trolley.

ClassFlow is fantastic and free. Can link to your O365 or Google account, and all presentations stored in the cloud for easy access: ClassFlow You can also upload .SMART files and convert them to into ClassFlow files. This is a bit hit and miss when it comes to formatting but it's generally fine. There is also a marketplace of user made resources on there which you can use.
