We've tried a powerwash on a couple of devices for testing purposes. We can't re-enroll them because they're not able to talk to google.

Just an update.. It appears to be a problem with some settings on the ISP managed firewall. I opened a support ticket with them, and they made some changes yesterday hoping to fix things, but it's even worse now. Before it was intermittent, so if you couldn't login you could try a few more times and chances are it would work. Now nobody can login to a Chromebook in the whole of school. That's 200+ devices not working this morning.

Schools Broadband, I've opened a support ticket with them.

The last few days we've noticed a lot of our Chromebooks coming up with Error 400 when trying to login. Whatever the cause it's very intermittent. one second it doesn't work, try again and it does, try again a few minutes later and it doesn't again. Anybody else experiencing anything similar?

Recommend me a decent Chromebook for a class set
WannabrewUK replied to Sonic007's topic in Hardware
We've got two class sets of Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Have no problems with them at all and build quality seems good -
We've got a mixed site of Windows and Chrome devices. All IT suites are Windows and then each department have Chromebooks with the exception of ART and MFL. The Laptops in MFL are around 5 years old and perfectly usable, but the teachers don't like how slow windows is to login. They only ever get used for browsing the internet so don't need any specialist software on, just word processor, spreadsheet etc. So we're looking into putting ChromeOS Flex on them. All the hardware seems to work fine, the only issue we can see so far is writing accents in French & Spanish seems to not be the same as in windows. Does anybody else use Chrome in MFL lessons and how do you get around this? Thanks

SchoolCloud /Roombooking have an outage in case this helps anyone
WannabrewUK replied to robintech's topic in Cloud Services
We've had an email to say they've applied a fix. So it should all be working correctly now. -
SchoolCloud /Roombooking have an outage in case this helps anyone

We can't make bookings at all on the room booking system, it says a sync is in progress. But we can't find any process running at our end. -
We've just been asked to setup "something" so a student can see the teachers screen on a tablet, this needs to be setup for September. This is all the information we've got so far, but have asked for clarification. They are currently in primary school taught in one classroom. Coming up to Secondary they're going to be having 6 lessons a day in different classrooms. Does anybody have a setup which sounds like it might work? how do you do it?

What CAD software are people using
WannabrewUK replied to WannabrewUK's topic in Educational Software
No, he's not given us any clue. Which is helpful. -
We're in the process of doing a software audit and are having to finally move away from the free Desktop version of Sketchup. We were looking at replacing it with Sketchup for Schools, but our head of Technology says it doesn't do what is needed for GCSE. What do other people use, does anybody use Sketchup for Schools? We can't really justify going to Sketchup pro at the moment. Thanks

We've found the staff and student sync to be unreliable and support to be slow and a bit sub-standard. But it does make pretty graphs

Make sure its setup correctly and keep an eye out for data issues. I wasn't involved at all with the setup here, the project was headed up by a member of SLT who was the initial master administrator. when they left Classcharts decided to make me the master administrator and default write back teacher without telling me. two years later we found that over 15000 comments had been written back to our MIS as myself, rather than the teacher who issued it. Classcharts never appologised and were unable to explain how this had happened. It's has never been fixed.

Argggh! I switched for about 5 minutes, then switched back. Unfortunately it appears to have changed my OWA at the same time, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to switch back in OWA.

We had a few HP Chromebooks die last year. Not the same model, but we found they have a surface mounted fuse on the motherboard that had blown.

SBB Netsweeper Setup
WannabrewUK replied to WannabrewUK's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Yes, we're running the Wagent on Chromebooks, but Netsweeper doesn't identify who went where in its logs. It just says someone with pupil access. It's not great for prevent or safeguarding. -
Hi All, We're with Schools Broadband using Netsweeper on a Mixed Windows 10 & Chromebook environment. The Netsweeper Wagent is a little flaky on windows, but for the most part works, but it's the Chromebooks we're really having a problem with. If just doesn't show us who is browsing / searching on the web when using Chromebooks, which is a real issue when students get up to no good. We've had multiple tickets open with SBB over the last few year to try and get this resolved, but each time we open one progress is very slow. Other jobs come in to us and the issue gets put on the back burner. Has anybody managed to get this working? Thanks

Internet connection down
WannabrewUK replied to WannabrewUK's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Our internet was down for a total of 22 Hours before being restored. Since then we've been having speed issues that have been reported. It was our second major outage in the last month. So I'm getting questioned by SLT as to what caused these. -
Hi, Has anyone else had any connection issues with Schools Broadband today or is it just us? Our Internet has been off since 2.30pm yesterday. Thanks Dave

We've used Classcharts for about 4 years, but have recently discovered an issue with the writeback to SIMS.net for short term supply teachers. So our possible solutions list at present is :- 1) Don't use Classcharts 2) Don't use Classcharts for recording behaviour 3) Don't write behaviours from classcharts to sims 4) Supply/temp/student staff don't use classcharts I'm looking at alternatives , but we use classcharts a lot for seating plans, so any would need to have that feature. Any Suggestions welcome.

I'm concerned about the GDPR aspect of this, they're processing someone's name for something they shouldn't. Surly they would need permission for this?
-
Did they ever explain why they used your name? I'm not having much luck with support.
