Hmmm - We've only got one of these (now using Ctouch boards) and we've got the same issues - cleaned the strips but still gives problems. I'd be interested if there is a fix.

You're right of course re giving them admin rights - it just made life easier - like most things, it bites you eventually. I think over Easter this member of staff may find he can't do what he used to be able to......

Those GP's are worth a try. I'll have a play. It's all very well having a school policy which says x,y and z. But no-one listens and certainly doesn't bother about them! Just taken over 20 smashed keyboards and 2 smashed monitors out of one IT room - what happened to the culprits? yep - nothing.

This is a USB connection into the machine not through wifi.

Steve, The example I tried was - set up Proxy Switcher extension in Google - set up Willkommen bei Facebook - anmelden, registrieren oder mehr erfahren as a rule to just go to direct connection 9i.e bypass proxy), plug phone in tethered to usb. Browse to facebook - it somehow goes straight to the phone! (We've historically let 6th formers and staff be local admins on their machines) Paul

I've found out that a member of staff has been tethering his android through USB and using 3G to bypass the filtering. Whilst he may be trustworthy lots aren't and if the laptop users (6th form and staff) get wind of it our filtering becomes worthless. not wanting to drop him in it can anyone think of an easy way (GPO?) to prevent tethering preferably without anyone even knowing? Can anyone help - I'm already grey, now losing it as well. Setup Forefront TMG as a one nic proxy server (to replace a really old ISA server). We rely on nottscc to provide firewall and most filtering but want to use this as extra url control and caching. All set up fine to the upstream proxy and all works well apart from the server complains about not being able to connect to the Microsoft Reputation Services servers. IE connects to MRS fine, DNS resolves the correct addresses, SSL connections work fine. The weird thing is on one day it started working and correctly rated URL's, the next day it stopped again. (no changes made at my end) The error message shows up in alerts and from URL category query - 'microsoft firewall service failed to connect to the microsoft reputation service server' Could the problem be caused by the notts council firewall? Any ideas?

We've replaced quite a few now with Benq units. One was an Ultra Short Throw unit which can go amazingly close to the board - BUT - it failed after 2 weeks, the 'engineer' replacing it was useless, plugged wrong leads in and couldn't align it to save his life. This replaced unit is now failing and BENQ support are pretty hopeless.

I can't believe how BAD these UF35's are. We have 30 of them , over the 3 year warranty over 20 have been swapped. Such a terrible design with at least 4 major inherent faults. We've started replacing them with a boom and Benq short throw projector - all in £600,. brighter and better in every way. I'll never buy another Smartboard after this and the way Stelges have acted. If they had any concept of customer service they'd replace them outside of warranty as unfit for purpose.

Hmmm - interesting question. It looks that way, if it is then that's where you would have been in Sept 2008 so 3 years on you should be 3 increments higher? (or topped out). I can't find any reference to splitting the grades down.

As ICT Manager I was on SO1 - regraded to 518 points which puts me in new Band A so a few more increments. (Top of scale now is £8,000 LESS than my previous job which I 'left' 5 years ago in the private sector - where I actually had less responsibility)

+1 for ABTutor as well - plus it handles terminal server really well

We've had 50 Axels now for a year - absolutely marvellous - no fails, really low power, fit neatly on the back of a VESA monitor. How are you going to run VMWARE - on 50 base units with all that baggage?

We've put all of the Axles' in now so no need for shorted cables - amazing what you can do with ty-wraps:eek: So far - all Axels' gone in with no failures at all.

So far 6.1.1 seems to have fixed it. The symptoms we were getting were that existing sessions carried on but any new attempts got a 'domain does not exist'. The server could be pinged and it could happily ping others. It appeared as if some ports/sockets got blocked. Usually a reboot fixed it, if it din't a deinstall and reinstall of the AB client worked.

Just had AB reply - they say it could be that a new version just out may fix it - 6.1.1 just installed for testing.

Just the 'Block Website' policy with block all sites set.

We're currently trialling AB Tutor v6 on our 2003 terminal servers - it works great until you put a policy on anyone. Once a policy has been put on (and taken off) the server hosting the user loses its domain controller connection and refuses to allow any more connections until rebooted. The sessions already on are fine. Has anyone else had any experience of this? (The policies are not the internet block policies that say they affect the whole server)

They cost us £150 each for the new 80F models. So far so good no complaints from the abusers.

Just put in a class room full of the latest M80F Axel clients. So far so good - really fast, neat with them screwing to the monitor and £100 less than a Wyse.

We've got loads of 2015's and some of them do this random not responding trick. Nice to know we're not alone. I see they're now end of life and replaced with the 2055.
