Thankyou essential_alex for your reply. Much appreciated. We do have an AI policy now as staff were just using it without thinking or any boundaries so we've set the record straight and provided training of what can happen if not used properly. I think looking at the team plan may be the better option so that it can then be managed properly. I also wondered about if one user uses it a lot they will use a lot of tokens which may then make the next person who uses it not able to do as much.

Hi everyone, Our head has asked if we could get ChetGPT Plus to allow them to work with images for presentations, etc. She wants to share the one login between staff. Does this work? Any one recommend? Thankyou.

Login to Chrome OS Flex as guest by default
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in ChromeOS & Cloud Based OS
Thankyou. We do have a set of Chromebooks with licenes that are managed and it does indeed work well. I was hoping by using Flex on these old laptops I could set things up so it just booted to Chrome and not have to get paid licenses. Just need a web browser basically that resets when the machine is turned off for th enext user. -
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use some old laptops to create simple web browsing machines that have Chrome. I used to usePorteus Kiosk. I can install Chrome OS Flex but you need to then set these up using a Google account. I'd like it so guests can just login by default without an account needing to be setup. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thankyou.

When they get things done they are pretty good but it seems like they've got too big and need to employ more people as I have had times when I've waited forever.

Hi everyone, I've got a weird problem with my Windows 11 install. So I go and install Windows 11 and all goes well. Join to domain, all good. The problem I have is that after a little while the security logs get full and users can no longer login. I have to login as an admin user on the machine, go to event viewer, and then clear the security and other windows logs. I make sure to tick the "overwrite files once full" buttons. Users can then log in again. After a few weeks, the issue happens again......so something is resetting the event viewer options and instead of overwriting it is filing back up the logs again. A policy on the domain? Any ideas? Thankyou.

It's basically a right shambles.

So after getting staff on to the Google Authenticator, today it is asking to re-register with Google Authenticator. What half baked rubbish is this!

Hi all, I've been asked to look into an AI minute taker for meetings. Is there anything you use or reccomend that works well? Many thanks.

They've also failed to tell us how to add new 2FA devices.....Sometimes it seems to be by going to security keys, Authenticator, and other times it is in top right hand corner and Add a new device.
-
I've been told on the phone today that they are going to be shortly enabling it so that admins can "reset" the 2FA devices that users have on their accounts. Currently you have to phone them up and they remove the old device so you can re-add a new one. We have had to ask them to remove old devices, log in to a staff's CPOMS accounts, add new device, ignore the blurb about CPOMS authenticator. Download Google Authenticator, scan the new QR code, and then you are OK again. A right faff that I didn't need this week. Poorly communicated to users.
-
I found that a year or so it was possible to get through by phone very quickly. I am now waiting a lot longer for support. Once connected the support is generally great and things get sorted but it is taking longer. Do they need to invest in more support staff possibly!? I think this week has been a shambles. We were told CPOMS authenticator was no longer used yet when you tell your users to go and re-add their 2FA device the page is still pointing them to use CPOMS authenticator.

I'd be tempted to give users an iPad each and headphones. Then broadcast the music on some streaming platform and each can connect to it.

Thanks for all your help over the past year. Wishing you all the best for 2025.

How much RAM do you allocate your servers?
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Do the host machines who just sit there running HyperV or whatever need much Ram or should we prioritise the Ram for the VM's? -
How much RAM do you allocate your servers?
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Domain Controller and File Server with a few printers. -
How much RAM do you allocate to your different servers? I am running Windows Server 2025. Physical machine has 64GB RAM. I currently have 10GB to the host machine, and then as virtual machines: 18GB to domain controller, and 36GB to a Sims Server running two Sims databases. How about you? More? Less?

Can't see any drives to install Windows Server
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Sorry, Yes, I am still setting up the two Hard drives as Raid. Only the SSD was put into non Raid. I also have another server too so backups are fine. -
Can't see any drives to install Windows Server
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Ok, I've followed the video that Koldov posted. I've gone into the Raid controllers settings and reset the Raid options. Yes, it means having to start again, but that is fine. So now I can set them up as a Non-Raid Disk. Thankyou everyone for your help as always. It is very much appreciated. Have a great day. -
Can't see any drives to install Windows Server
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Thankyou for your help. I found that the only way I was able to make the Windows Server install see a drive to install to was by adding the SSD to Raid 0 in the Lifecycle Controller. My plan was to have the host OS on the SSD and then my virtual machines on the larger hardrives which will have file servers, etc. -
Can't see any drives to install Windows Server
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
This is where I'm stuck. I dont know how to get the other hard drives to be seen by the host OS. Host is on the SSD. and then there are these two Hard drives that dont show up. Any help much appreciated. Thankyou. -
Can't see any drives to install Windows Server
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Ok, so I've jusyt gone into the lifecycle controller, left it as Raid 0 and added the drive. It can now be seen in the Windows Server install and going through. I think I am nearly there. Cant see the two big hard drives at the moment, just the SSD I've installed on to. -

Thankyou for your replies everyone. Much appreciated. I suddenly realised I had a duff keyboard so F10 wasnt working so I couldnt get into the LifeCycle Controller. I've now managed to get into that and am updating the firmware and OS drivers.
