It's close to the FE FileExplorer app you mentioned previously. The app allows you to connect and map a shared windows drive onto the sidebar - which then can be used to upload pictures, videos and documents. I map all the drives when I configure the iPads and haven't yet had one disconnect. Also, has a built in PowerPoint and Word viewer which a few of our staff find useful. It's all done over your network - no uploading to the cloud like with OneDrive. I'd grab an iPad and just give it a go

What voice recorder app are you using? The voice recorder app we use here (https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/voice-recorder-audio-editor/id685310398) has a share button - we're able to use that to import it into the documents app to be uploaded to the network. Regarding OneDrive, we used to have a single Office 365 account just for our iPad data which we signed into our iPads OneDrive app. We then had a file server running the OneDrive client signed into that iPad data account, with the OneDrive files being saved on a network share, allowing files to be uploaded on the iPads and then sync'd to the file server. It did work for many years but as our iPad numbers grew, we found we were forever re-signing in OneDrive. The Documents app is a much better solution for us these days.

We use an app called Documents here https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/documents-by-readdle/id364901807 Great little app for saving photos & videos to a network - you should be able to share/export right into it from other apps. We do this every now and then with keynote presentations.

The Samsung Galaxy watch - love it! I can get three days out of the battery and Samsung are fairly good with frequent feature updates. Interface is good and navigating via the rotating bezel is oddly satisfying.

Managed to finally devote a little time to it yesterday and found out that Impero is the culprit. Turns out it installs a secondary graphics driver called DPMS Monitor which is part of the function to blank the screen. Fix is below for anyone who might need it - It does disable the blank screen function on the machine its applied to. 64bit Reg Key (x64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Impero Solutions Ltd\ImperoV3 32bit Reg Key (x86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Impero Solutions Ltd\ImperoV3 Now add the following String Value: DPMSBlanking Right click and Modify value data to the following: Disabled Adding these Reg Keys will disable the new display driver The above will only take effect after the machine is restarted a few times

If i'm understanding correctly, would something like Clonezilla suffice? Takes a copy of the current hard drive and pops it to an image that can be restored onto a similar machine. Pretty straightforward to use - we run an IT suite with dual booted iMacs and this has helped a lot over the years.

For the last 5 years or so, each class has had its own teacher iPad with OneDrive installed - we found that staff quickly abandoned the class cameras and just ended up taking and uploading all their pictures that way. Meant that this was one less thing we had to worry about. Haven't used the Microbit kits so can't say. We do have some Lego WeDo kits and they still function fine with the storage block in place. We have one machine in the IT office that can read and write to removable storage which occasionally comes in handy with visitors, although it's only probably been used twice in the past year as most of our staff know to inform visitors beforehand so that they can e-mail it over or use some other alternative.

We took the opportunity in May to ban completely and wouldn't go back. I expected a few grumbles, but 95% of the staff didn't have an issue with switching over to OneDrive - helped a ton that we had the full backing of SLT.

Hi guys Wondering if any of you would be able to point me in the right direction regarding this odd issue affecting screen brightness control on a freshly imaged 1809 edu laptop? So after getting all the drivers installed, the brightness control is working fine - button appearing in the notification centre and fn keys work. After being added to the domain, the button disappears and the fn keys no longer work...and as far as i'm aware there are no GPOs which should be altering the brightness control. Night light option is there but no brightness control. Doesn't seem to be affected by the user account either - admin or staff, the result is still the same Any ideas?

Education here - largely in part to Files on Demand and some of the apps are used quite a lot here (Mainly Paint 3D and 3D viewer)

Hi guys Wondering if you have any ideas regarding an issue i've got with Mosyle? So i've got everything up and running with restrictions and apps all being pushed out no problem. When it comes to removing apps, nothing happens. I'm using the install app management profile menu to remove the app with the " Uninstall apps after considering all other assigned profiles" advanced option selected. Is it something i'm missing in another profile? I have a restriction setup to disallow the removal of apps by the user but I wouldn't have expected this to prevent the MDM removing the apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

We've just recently been looking into this and it's great to hear that many others recommend Greenhouse School websites. Looks like we made the right decision. They were quite a bit cheaper than other companies and so far the contact we've had from them has been good.

I've been working on my own for the past 4 months, and before that, a team of 2 for roughly 5 years. As of right now it's going fine - think i've adapted do the increase work load quite well. Jobs do take longer now and I get less time to just sit and troubleshoot, have to think a lot more on my feet. Do tend to miss the 'banter'. I know this all too well - I joke that I should have Assistant Site Manager appended to my title.

We've been running both the Lenovo and Dell Vostro lines for about three years (Dozen or so from each) here replacing older laptops as needed - never had an issue with any of them. Both tend to be rock solid when it comes to build quality (from my perspective) and the staff are happy with the increased performance. We've got a couple of those particular Dells and so far so good! As the others have said, definitely upgrade to an SSD.

Just built a brand new setup based around the Ryzen 2700x and was in the same position. I ended up getting a new Gigabyte 1080ti mainly down to the amount of people i'm reading about who are having to RMA their new RTX cards due to numerous different issues. This latest line definitely seems like it should have been in development for another few months and maybe released alongside a few games that actually take advantage of the new features. My 1080ti handles everything I throw at it with ease, whether it be 4k or VR.

Our current system is tied in with a redcare unit and a bunch of IR sensors that allow an outside monitoring company to view the cameras when an IR sensor is tripped. Do you guys have anything like this with your camera systems? or is it just all motion detection on the cameras? Thanks again!

The current camera resolution is really poor - have to wonder how they were approved in the first place. Also, the box itself has had numerous failures over the last year or so. I think i'll have a look into the Ubiquiti and Hikvision kit.

I switched over our Wifi APs to Ubiquiti last year and haven't looked back, great piece of kit. Moving some of our switches over to Ubiquiti aswell. What do you guys do concerning monitoring of the camera system?

Hi Guys, wondering if I could get some ideas about what should be done with our old CCTV system. We currently have an old analogue coax DVR connected to 12 cameras dotted about the site that is starting to show its age. Currently, the system is monitored by a alarm monitoring company who will check the system if our Redcare IR sensors get tripped. I've had a few people come in with varying opinions on whether the current coax system should be upgraded, or just replace the entire system with an IP system. What are your current setups? What would you recommend? I've been looking at the IP systems available and they look pretty good, but i'm having difficulty convincing the Site Manager to go for a new system.
