BETT 2023 GIVEAWAY - What is your earliest gaming memory?
pugrick_31 replied to VeryPC's topic in Our Advertisers
I think the first time I ever played a game was The Man with the Golden Gun on the Playstation 1. Throughly enjoyed playing on the PS1, Crash Bandicoot, Medal of Honour (can't remember the specific game!) to name a few and then stuck with it until my parent's bought me the original Xbox. All of this on an old chunky CRT, can't get any better. -
Hi all, Looking for a bit of help here as I can't seem to find any solution on the web at all. We use roaming profiles here at our site and because of this any user with a profile won't be able to open Chrome on another machine if they have it open already. This is where we brought in Edge as it would allow users to have Chrome open on let's say their office PC and then use Edge when in a classroom without the need to log off the original PC. We have now pushed the new Chromium Edge to all users and all has been working fine up until last week. For some reason if a user now has Chrome open on another PC and goes to try use Edge, Edge will just not open whatsoever. I have gone through all sorts of research and testing but still can't figure out what is causing it. I am wondering if maybe because Chrome and Edge are Chromium based browsers that they may be trying to use some form of joint cache area and therefore as it is saved to the roaming profile it won't let it be opened. Although I am highly doubting that this is the case. Has anyone had this happen recently and if so know how to fix it? Thanks,

That I am not entirely sure. When it happened to us the connection was re-established before the exam finished so I couldn't answer. I would imagine your EO would be able to contact the exam board or JCQ to get a finalised answer but in my eye I would think that so long as the candidate is present when it is eventually printed then it would be ok? Again though that would be something for your EO to find out, I was just asked to set up the system for us so never looked into the regs and so on as I expected they looked into it all.

ChromEx keeps a local copy of the document saved on the Chromebook itself and regularly uploads it to the cloud for retrieval from the admin panel. If the internet were to go down the exam would not be affected as the local copy will still be there. I have had this happen before and you resolve it by logging into the admin panel and extending the finishing time of the exam to around the time you are retrieving it. Load up the Chromebook and you'll see the exam reappear (as they disappear when the exam time is up). Load back into the exam and submit it again.

Have to say we use ChromEx/Trelson Assessment and have had no issues. Exams Officer originally found it and I would say its cheap for licenses as well for what you get. Quite useful as well that you can specifically set different student accounts to suit their needs such as extra time and spell checker (yep funnily enough I recently found out a spell checker can be used for exams!) without affecting any others.

Couple of Activpanel questions on new install
pugrick_31 replied to titch's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Hopefully this will help you out a bit. Q1 - you should be able to completely reset the firmware by downloading the firmware file from Promethean support and flashing it directly. I believe you need to contact them to get them to send you the correct firmware file. This video guide should help - Q2 - Our staff sort of decide on their own which they would rather use. All of ours are wired in via HDMI and USB directly to the board rather than using Screen Share but we have noticed some issues with flickering and not connecting at all randomly. Normally using the OPS would resolve it which is when we found it to be more useful as you could annotate a lot quicker and easier on the OPS directly. However we have a mix of old V5 boards and the newer Cobalt variant. The newer models have the ability to annotate on any input along with a lot more features that the OPS use to have on their own. I would honestly let some staff have a look at both and try using both to see which they prefer. Q3 - I don't think it would be possible, but then again never tried to do it. Q4 - Again, we haven't looked at remote management for the boards we have but I would guess that the OPS could be managed via an MDM. I don't think the version of Android on the board itself would let you but if you can then I wouldn't see why not. Only thing to bear in mind is that both the board and the OPS would probably need the Google play service and store to be installed as they don't have it out of the factory. Obviously depending on what MDM you use. Hope this helps! -

I'm good with any days also -
As chrisakak9 said above, you would need to speak to who you bought Inventry from for a Paxton integration license. Then you would go into Inventry and link their ID cards to what everyone pulled in from your MIS. Just have to remember that the license only covers one door, so if you have multiple doors to cover you would need to purchase additional doors to add onto the license, not the same cost as the license itself in case you're wondering.

We have Paxton and Inventry integrated together. We've had Paxton for quite a while and then made a move to get Inventry to monitor staff signing in and out on Paxton, plus late students and visitors. All mainly to help and improve the way evacuations work but is useful in other ways too.

We use Lightspeed Relay, as the majority of our off-site devices are Chromebooks we push the Relay extension out via GSuite Admin and it gives them in the correct filtering for either staff or student.

I have a slight feeling this might be because the Google Meet session was started by the student and not the member of staff. If they start the meeting then they become the owner of the Meet session and not the member of staff who organised. We've had the same sort of issue but not all of our classes are recorded so it's a rare occurrence. Don't have a fix for it yet felt this might help point you in the right direction.

We issue RFID fobs out to students instead of ID badges, we find they are easier than badges and lanyards. Costing wise, I'm unsure exactly what we pay as our Kitchen team order them through where we get our Tills from each year for the new intakes. We are just lucky that they have these as we use them to link with PaperCut, saved sorting something else. They are similar to these - https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/identification-sensors/8828972?cm_mmc=UK-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-PLA_UK_EN_Automation_%26_Control_Gear_Whoop-_-Identification+Sensors_Whoop-_-8828972&matchtype=&aud-827186183686:pla-341181368536&gclid=Cj0KCQiA7qP9BRCLARIsABDaZzhpnly4aXbYjJ2_CIljZ1M5TlzAx7MHXXkaJQ_f3VAOvZML5Y79Ls4aAnybEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Patrick

Hi All, Looking to see if anyone has or is thinking similarly with us. We run a coding club for students at our school and are looking at purchasing a virtual reality headset to expand our current range of coding experiences. Has anyone done this yet in their school, one of our computing teachers has to put in a bid to our Head of IT to justify buying one. If we find it to be successful we may also look at implementing it as part of the curriculum. All views, opinions and potential problems welcome. Thanks,

Asked him to check and there isn't a keyboard shortcut for the webcam. I was thinking whether he had done something like that as it was working but we have been disabling and enabling in device manager and still nothing. - - - Updated - - - Yeah all privacy settings are fine. Camera is able to work in all applications.

Hi All, Looking to see if anyone has any idea on how to fix this issue. A member of our SLT Team has a Dell Inspiron 17 7778 2-in-1 and has been using it for SLT meetings absolutely fine. They are now starting with virtual classes for the students to attend, however, his webcam has stopped passing any video feed through to any app. Our VP has the same model laptop but hasn't had any issues with her as far as she can tell. Both the Teams app and web version are unable to pick up the camera. Even the camera app built that comes with Windows 10 just loads black, but with no errors. I have uninstalled then reinstalled the driver for the webcam multiple times, Windows updates are clear and there are no other driver updates for the laptop. Device Manager says it is working fine so I am completely stumped on this one. If anyone has any ideas, they will be much appreciated. Thanks,

Is anyone here using the Captive Portal on Lightspeed's Relay system? We have purchased licences to use Lightspeed Relay after losing Rocket with our ISP, SchoolsBroadband. However, after looking around it appears you need to have the onsite Rocket appliance to allow you to use the Captive Portal, but we have only purchased the Cloud based Relay system. Can anyone advise if we can do it and how with just the Cloud version or do we need to get the onsite Rocket appliance to allow us to use it. Or is there something similar we can use built into Relay, otherwise wireless devices like tablets and smartphones get an unfiltered internet connection. Thanks in advance.

We have phones in nearly every office but not in the classrooms. Most departments have an office to share with the department and they contain a phone for them to use.

Google Chrome not able to be open when logged on elsewhere
pugrick_31 replied to pugrick_31's topic in Windows 10
We tell them not to be logged into two places. It's only SLT we have the problem with as they do stuff in the office, then go teach and come back. We didn't have this with Win 7, only now with Win 10. -

Yes we realised that was the issue but we don't know how to resolve it. -
Google Chrome not able to be open when logged on elsewhere
pugrick_31 replied to pugrick_31's topic in Windows 10
All the data the Chrome creates goes straight into the user's home drive. It used to be stored directly into the H drive but we have now redirected it so it all goes into a folder called Google. -

No we are not. It's in the profile.
