It does beg the question when moving to a new MIS which is fully integrated - what those true costs are - as yes on one hand benefits of moving outweigh on-premise - but do you see an actual ROI in year 2 or 3 ?
-
With regards to Suffolk County Council and primary schools - why have they gone separate ways? is it because of the direction the council took or anything else. Would be really interesting to know.
-
Interesting - but surely the council were able to see if there was a finance system that would greatly enhance processes within schools - that they should be encouraging it. Or is it because the contract was through the council in the first place ??

With all the discussions going on with MIS and latest data trends, there is a fundamental issue to discuss in relation to finance systems. For example schools that were on SIMS and using FMS - I was wondering what they moved to and if the transition was OK. Likewise it would be good to get other views on any finance application changes msde in line with MIS changes and why you chose that particular application.

Thats Recordlink seems really good. Want aware of that and may save cost, time and effort

Dear All Have any of you come across any additional costs when looking at other MIS systems. For example a cashless catering company wanted an additional £1K to map data which I think is crazy given the costs paid already. Just wondered if any others have experienced anything similar.
-
For those, who have not seen it: Attached is an export by LA which gives a really good indication of movement across regions.FOI 2024 0037129.pdf
-
The data shared in mis-trends is out of date as the latest FOI really shows a decline for SIMS and others are right - with contract renewals looking - it does paint a bleak picture for them.
-
Very interesting read and good to see more analysis on this as it clearly shows the movement. SIMS are gonna struggle with their roadmap as it may decline even further. Any other analysis and feedback welcome

For those that haven't seen the data: you can download it from here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/school_mis_supplier_from_autumn

Given the latest release of data which has just come out on the MIS landscape. What are people's views and are there any surprises?

It's a big topic in our school and loads of teachers are asking how AI is used within the sector - especially when it comes to using data systems to reduce workload and drive efficiencies forward
-
I was wondering if there are any schools out there who are actually using AI features within MIS systems and how effective it is. Would be great to see examples of practice as I know this is hot topic at the mo within the sector

Dear All I was wondering if anyone can give me an insight into hosted connectivity speeds and responses when undertaking data processing tasks. It would be great if you could let me know which system and the kind of responses from hosted services you have experienced. Many thanks in advance Aftab

Were in the process of transitioning to a new MIS system, however one of the challenges is that we have to rebuild our behaviour management workflow from scratch as existing policies / sanctions processes are not clear. Is there anyone on this group - willing to share with me their templates for BromCom or any documents for sanctions processes for positive and negative. I know every school is different - but just want to get an idea so that I can at least build something in preparation for our go-live Many thanks in advance

Dear All I had a look at NextGen and its clear that there is a lot that needs to be done in terms of development and I fear that the 2 year roadmap will push them out of the MIS market. That said, I have been looking at Arbor and Bromcom and would welcome any experiences of either providers in terms of project transition, lessons learnt (ie integration with products) and after support services. Also - for those of you that have seen NextGen - I would welcome your thoughts on the application. Appreciate your thoughts or views
