The share can only have read, and the folder permissions has read and execute

I seem to have all the correct information, security etc but for some reason just cannot seem to get it to deploy i have given the machine 3 or 4 gpupdate /force and restarted the machine still without any joy, I'm starting to wonder if the MSI is working as it shud but all i did is follow the instructions so i thought it would be nice and easy.

The only error that I can see is this......... The content source cannot be accessed. Context: Application, SystemIndex Catalog Details: The object was not found. (HRESULT : 0x80041201) (0x80041201) But the status was a warning not a error but can't seem to find any other errors

I bassically did what the read me file said on the disk and i quote In order to deploy the Boardworks GCSE Separate Sciences application from a server running Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server using group policy then please follow the instructions below: 1. Modify your group policy object to install the administrative BoardworksGCSESeparateSciences.msi file to the appropriate network clients or users. it seemed to install the software to my remdeploy folder, and create a 'program files' folder all i did was add the .msi to gpo

Permissions are set so that 'everyone' has read access also domain users have read access and domain computers have read access That policy is enabled, and also I have enabled "Verbose vs normal status messages" to see what is was doing at start up, it seems to hang on the deploying policy software (i think it said), for about 20 seconds but then just continues on, and no software is installed

Yea that would be the ideal way of doing it. but it actually only wants to me on 4 machines (the science staff) and I want to the software deployment working so that if I have to re installed windows i don't have tokeep installing sotware via disc. Its not just this piece of software thats the problem I haven't managed to sucessfully deploy any piece of software.

Trying to deploy Boardworks, GCSE separate science across the network, as Im sick of trying to install it onto every machine. Using server 2008 R2 I am new to software deployment, so I have read as much as i can and this is what i have done. > Created a share called remdeploy > given access to everyone to read > Placed the MSI into the remdeploy folder >Created an OU in GPO called Software > Created a new GPO for the software >Computer Configuration >Policies >software settings >SOftware installation >New >Package >Source \\server\remdeploy\software.msi Deployment tab >assigned As far as i can tell ive done everything right, and as far as i can tell the MSI works fine. Anyone any Ideas?

Yea good one last week, Can you please allow me to print from my classroom to the printers in my classroom this hasn't been working for the last few days. Go down to the classroom look at the printers turned them on at the wall turned on the power button WOW like magic the printer springs into life. I'm sure that is alittle bit of a waste of my time maybe?

Yesterday I got pulled aside by a member of staff who told me that there had been something said about me in the staff room from another member of staff. Apparantly this member of staff can't get me to do anything, everytime she asks me to do something I say 'Can you stick it on the helpdesk please' which is what I say to all members of staff. But apparantly the head has an issuse which again when I was asked to do it i never went and did, baring in mind I don't remember being told that the head didn't have a working printer. Oh and also I currently have a very busy helpdesk, the network manager is on a course this week which leaves me to get things done. Am i wrong to ask people to put things on the helpdesk? should I just go running when they call? OH! and also the reason we have a helpdesk is because if people catch us in the corridoor and ask us to do something 9 times out of 10 we are already on a job and by the time we get back to the office we have forgotton, but staff don't seem to be able to understand that. hmmmmmmmm In the end had a very busy week on my own and ready for the weekend.

2D design is blocked by Group Policy? As far as i know there are no group policies in place which would block 2d Design. Anyone ever had this? Thanks

After a summer of working like crazy trying to get the school back up and running, staff came back on friday and i just thought i was in hell, one IT room wasn't up and running. we moved over to server 2008 and windows 7 this summer, and we where going through on friday making sure things where working ok but all staff wanted was all there own problems fixing, evening tho all i wanted to do was get the school back up and running.

Thanks for that, but Multicase isn't enabled, I'm just thinking that maybe the image size are massive and its going to take a while.

WDS Seems to be taking an age to image machines, 4 machines may take almost a day, and a full classroom even longer. Is there a way to speed up deployment or is it just one of those things which can take a while?

We host it ourselves, I have reset the service, and stoped and started it again, with no joy. i have found the file that is being "edited" have tried to unlock with no joy

There are mainly files that relate to facility, and only one which relates to the website, which is (drive name:\inetpub\cys website) and it says it is accessed by me, but the message i get when i try to upload the website is it says Adam is editing this certain file, Adam is the guy who was here before me so im sure that isn't possible.

OK, hoping someone can help me there seems to be a lock screen on our school website for when the website is being updated. Yesterday I uploaded the whole website from dreamweaver and the lock screen appeared and its still there now, I have got no idea how to unlock it. I found a file that says someone is working on it, but there not so currently I have a website that says we are currently updating our website. Untitled Document Help me please!!!!

I have been asked to make a flash booklet of the schools newspaper. Ive never had any experience of flash and I cannot seem to find any easy step by step tutorials on the web. Does anyone have or know of any tutorials that I could be able to use to help me through? Cheers

Appears to be windows updates

This is the same tutorial that I have worked through, I haved tried Googled the issue and I some said it could be someting to do with the windows updates, just before I restarted I did some windows updates, apparantly it could be an update which hasn't installed properly, and it gave a command to type but that didn't work (can't remember the command) This is really bugging me as this is the second time this has happened, and i am very reluctant to start again as its taking a full day to get the software installed. Any further information wold be great. Thanks

Just spent a whole day building an image for the new windows 7 teacher laptops. Got all the way through activated windows restarted the machine and on start up when it says 'Setting up windows for first use' i get the following error message.............. 'Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation" I have already installed windows I have all my software installed, this would be the second time this has happened. during sysprep. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong this seems to only happen once I have ativated windows. Any Ideas?

Trying to Sysprep windows 7 for remote deployment. ive got the part of the image being ready, uploaded to WDS, But when I install it on a PC after installation it starts asking me for a username and password to create a new user and a computer name. All I want it to do is to ask me for a computer new so that I can specify the computer name. Does anyone know how to disable the create a new user during sysprep so that I don't have to create one?

Does anyone has a Ford Focus with the original cd/radio player, with the built in 6 disc changer? on saturday mine ate a cd and now shows CD error with 5 CDs inside and now i cant get them out or play a cd. does anyone know anyway i can reset it or is it a ford dealer job?

Does anyone know where I can get a decent purchase on a Epson EMP-82e lamp? Or is there anyone one here who could supply me with one? Cheers
