The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in an IT support role and be able to display a high level of technical expertise. The post is full time, working 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday). The successful candidate will require a valid UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle, as visits to schools within the Trust will be required. We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Technician to join our expanding team in a predominantly 1st line role. The role will include maintaining the IT systems across multiple sites so you must have your own transport and a full UK driving licence. Runs fine. Although the old Celerons with 512mb RAM are quite slow, but I can't blame the servers for that! RM always under estimate how many PCs that can be supported per server. When we switched to CC4 last summer we had the 2 new servers commisioned, with the intention of getting a third server this year if required, which it's not. Like you said, it's the extra support contracts that add up over the years so you're better off going for a higher spec server and less of them.

We currently have 700 computers on our CC4 network, using just 2 servers (FR + 1 DC), so you should be ok downsizing.

We're going CC4, should keep us going for a good few years. It also coincides with our servers getting a bit old and creeky, so nice new servers too!

RM will allow you to split the cost over 2 years, interest free (my account manager informed me of this this morning, as we are in a similar position). That makes the upgrade to CC4 much more manageable if it was just the initial price that's putting you off. And as the others have said, keep haggling!!

Have a look around the engine and locate the various sensors, remove the electrical plugs and re-fit them one at a time. It's easy to dislodge these things if you were a bit 'care free' in your previous mechanical work! A basic sensor/switch can be bypassed with a paper clip plugged into the cables to the sensor.
