Hi, apologies if this is an old thread but here is my experience of old debtors at new property 1. First of all, the law has changed and there is no tie between an individual and their address in terms of black lists or anything. However, some companies may have their own customer databases and you never know if an address may be on that. 2. Phone your council ASAP and get the names of people at the property updated on the Electoral Register. This is free and don't wait for the annual one they send in the post. This is the first thing most companies use to check when applying for credit so if the previous occupants (POs) are on it they may still be getting credit. 3. Also speak to the Council Tax Department to make sure they are up to date as well. 4. I know you are not supposed to open mail but after a few months you will get fed up of posting stuff back. Royal Mail has no obligation to deliver 'return to sender' email unless posted 1st class recorded so I think they just bin it. If any letters arrive without return addresses on, bin them as they can't have been that important. 5. When you get a letter, google the 'return address' on the back and it will probably turn out to be a Debt collection agency. Open it, phone the number on the letter and tell them you are the new occupant. Know the date you moved in as they will want that. Some also ask for a faxed copy of a recent utility bill at the address in your name so keep one handy. Many of them now have automated phone options for this so often you don't need to speak to them at all. 6. If anyone calls at the property about debt. Be nice and open the door before they ring it (if you see them get out of the van). Most are very nice and will be glad you are not the person as they still get paid for the visit without any extra work. Keep some ID and a bill from (4) above to show them. 7. If you get any parking tickets or anything vehicle related (such as bills for Petrol where the POs 'lost their wallet'), tell the Police and the DVLA as the POs have probably got a driving licence with their old address on. 8. Do not provide a forwarding address (if you know one), mobile numbers or anything that will look like you know the POs to anyone. Do not give anyone any idea where they might be now (again if you know it). 9. Be wary of any deliveries to your address for any items you did not order. Refuse delivery even if it is in your name and call the company who sent it (the store/website , not the parcel company). The POs can often do a small order from a catalogue before ordering a TV for a different address. 10. Be extra wary of any uninvited callers offering goods or services at your door. They may be linked to the POs and attempting to confirm if you/they are there and other information. Look out of the window as they go to see if they try your knocking at your neighbours door or just go away. 12. Its a good idea to use the free credit scoring 30 day trials from Experian etc to be aware of any attempts to use your name or address. If you bought the house from the POs and they know your name, they could use this and the address they know to try and get credit. 13. Police, DVLA , Debt Collection agencies are not stupid and won't want to waste their time. As soon as you have told them you are not linked to the POs, they will quickly move on to other means to get them. 14. The POs themselves will soon get wise if they are still using your address. Using the old driving licence only works for about 3 months before the DVLA cancel it. OK thats it, I went throught it myself for about 6 months to a year. It definitely stops though. Regards

Hi All, sorry if these have been posted before: With regard to a hosted VLE for a primary, what is the average disk space used? The provider is charging for storage at a per GB rate so what is the average in use at any of your schools? To give an idea of size, it is a school of about 600 students. In addition, our Internet connection is only 2mb which the provider is OK with. Is this viable in the real world? Is 10MB essential etc? Most grateful for any reply and sorry if they are old questions.

As above, look at status log on the LAN Ranger server while you get someone to create the error. You should see the log entries. Failing that, remove the Ranger client just to be sure thats the cause.

you need the /exchange on the end of your link mate. https://servername/exchange As its just the default web site on the main URL (/servername) you would expect that to appear. If that URL is too much for your users (like it is for mine!) replace the default.htm with a page that just forwards to the exchange page after a few secs. FBA mode rocks!

Run the ECM on DC1 and ensure DC2 is removed. Remove ALL traces of Ranger from DC2, i mean everything you can find including ranger program folders left replication tools reporter literally everything so its just DC1 on its own. Reboot DC1 so it doesn't know anything about DC2 (from Ranger's point of view). Then do a new 'extend' to DC2 just as if it were a new server.

Your workstations know about DC1 and DC2 so if DC1 is ok then just remove the Ranger software completely from DC2. The clients can still log in from DC1 Once it has gone, do an 'extend' install of Ranger to put it back on from scratch. Once this is complete, both DC1 and DC2 will be available for clients.

Its common to go back to pop3 + PST files if you've had a hassle with exchange. Stuff you lose is: 1. central admin of mailbox users/passwords 2. shared folders & calendar 3. central point of backup 4. distribution lists & the like It will also take longer for your mail to get to colleagues as it goes out to the ISP and in again whereas Exchange does local delivery. TBH for 15 users, i would make the effort with exchange. If it were 5 users then i would let it go. The only real difference you will note from Exch 5.5 is that all the mailbox management is done in Active Directory now, so its much easier. I would get a new server and new installation of Exch 2003 and start afresh. It really is easier than it sounds. Setting up a pilot/demo is a good idea. You can download 180 day versions of exch and windows 2003 or even Small Business Server.

You don't need to be on a Ranger network to buy/use Ranger Remote Control. I know many sites that just use Ranger Remote Control and not the other Ranger products. I stand corrected on the RM 'lol' comment. Looking at the websites: RM Tutor 3 'tutor' program is £26 Tutor 3 client licence is £19 This is how they used to sell NETop (Tutor 2) with separate tutor/client prices. Ranger Remote Control (Sentinel) 100 PC licence (any mixture of tutor/clients) = £2400 This is £24 per licence. So, assuming 3 IT Rooms with 30 PCs each + some spare licences RM Tutor 3 = 3 * £26 + 97 * £19 would be £1921 Ranger Remote Control would be £2400 , albeit with some flexibility on amount of Tutors/Clients. . Therefore, RM is £479 cheaper. Which i have to say, i am amazed at and apologise profusely. I think also you don't have to be running a CC3 network either, although it clearly helps with deployment etc. NETsupport don't publish a retail price on their web site so I am guessing they would not want to upset their OEM partner RM (who of course own Sentinel) and their price would be at least identical. Whoever you buy it from, its a great product and i am glad RM saw sense and ditched NETop for it.

Good old CON2PRT in the logon scipt that matches the printers to a variable set on the computer. It does the job.
