  1. Hi Sally Could you also urgently let us have details of this workaround please? Our case is CS0140703 Thanks
  2. Hi Thanks for your response, that looks to be the way to do it. I have decided, at the moment thiough, to move a couple of VM's about which will give me the extra space I need for a while. Chickens way out! Thanks
  3. Hi We have a Stone Equinox solution with a few Virtual disk clusters that were setup on installation. We have spare disk capacity and I would like to increase the capacity on one of the existing Clusters but cannot see how to go about this. Is is possible to do it myself or does this need Stone to do it? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks
  4. Hi We are having the same sort of issues as well. Does anyone know what the patch id/description is if Sophos do have one? Thanks

  6. Hi We don't use any startup scripts for it at present we just install it using PDQ which also ensures that the Visual C++ Runtime is installed and then copies the correct JSON file across and also copies the examwritepad programdata folder across as this was a fix we needed to use originally to prevent the hanging. Do you have a copy of the startup scripts you use? THanks
  7. Hi THanks for the suggestion, I do always logon a specific user to a specific machine as that definitely seems to work better. On the whole it works really well it is just there must be something fundamental that I am missing as to why we get this hanging app. I just can't spot what it is. Thanks
  8. Hi We have had it happen on and off since we first started using it many versions ago. We currently are using 5.1.0.0 We are on a CC4 network. I have always thought it is permission related in some way but I have added all the exceptions to program restrictions that we would normally do. I have tried changing the permissions on programdata\examwritepad which I think is related however that does not seem to be a fix all but sometimes seems to fix it on that one occasion. Thanks
  9. Hi Firstly, thank you for this great piece of software, our exams and SEND deapartments love it. I know there was some mention of this a while ago but I cannot find the solution. We often have Examwritepad hang on starting up. It may then start after about ten mintues or just hang indefinitiely. Generally we logon as an admin run it and then log off and back on as the exam user and it normally fixes it, although not always. This doesn't happen all of the time and it doesn't happen on every machine and I haven't found a pattern. Does anyone have a long term solution to this please? Thanks

  11. Would I be able to play Adventure, Space Invaders and Asteroids on it? :-) I think they are the last games I played. Yes the original ones and yes I am that old!
  12. OK thanks. We have tried switching the Windows Firewall off temporarily and also bypassing the main Firewall and it still showed the intermittent issue. It worked fine until September for us and we have had it for years so we are at a loss. We did move form VMWare toi Hyper-V over the summer so we are wondering whether it is linked to the multiple nics on hosts issue but our Hyper-V people are looking into this possibility at the moment. We have already disabled VMQ on the network card which is one of Saltos suggestions. We just keep being told by Salto it is a network issue of ours, not their problem. If we do get anywhere I will let you know. Thanks
  13. Hi Did you find out what the cause of this issue was? We are having exactly the same problem. Thanks
  14. No I did that a few months ago without issue. For us it does just seem to be since we did the Windows Updates.
  15. Thanks very much. I have tested on a few machines and all seems well so I am about to roll it out all over.
  16. Us too! We are also an RM CC4 school and I know RM are investigating it. Again I assumed it appeared after the recent WIndows updates.

  18. We use Meraki MS410 and MS350 at the core (2 of each) and have been very happy. Our Wifi is also Meraki so it made sense and the people who supplied and configured our Wifi also do our switches. Easy to reconfigure although I haven't had much need to. I like the visibility it gives across the network in an easy to use gui. We are gradually replacing the rest of our HP / Aruba switches for Meraki on our rolling program.
  19. Hi Thanks for that advice. I have installed this one manually with the required software and have bound it to AD and added printers. Ideally I would also like to be able to do the two following things :- Specify a fixed dock for anyone else who logs onto the mac and also provide mapped drive links to the user home directory and the staff and student shared areas, for any user of this mac. Can anyone offer any advice as to how to go about this please? I have tried with the dock copying the com.apple.dock.plist to the appropriate plaece under english.lproj but that doesn't make any difference. Thanks
  20. Hi Our Performing Arts Centre have received a new high specced iMac predominantly for video editing. We have a small network of imacs but are predominantly Windows based. The existing macs are still able to be deployed/updated using Deploystudio but I believe this would not work with the new one. As this is only one Mac what would the best practice be for setting this up? Should I manually bind to the network etc, install Office, Sophos etc.. or is there a better more automated and secure way (withoiut too much of a learning curve)? Would it still link in with profile manager for drive and printer mappings? What would you recomend? Thanks
  21. HI thanks. The user has tried a few other chromebooks and has managed to logon to most of them and can then install the certificate from usb. The wifi part has worked most times for the logon and the Drama school is on our site and network and the chromebooks will remain here. We have a Meraki Wifi system and have created a google type authentication setup which does allow all the users to logon (most of the time - we think!). They just can't get much further becasue of the SSL certificate :-( We are fine to make changes obviously to two of the tenancy's but may struggle to get the girls school to make any changes on theirs. We are trying to get the girls to manually install the certificate from a usb pen which we have provided it on so will see how many can do that. If they do inconsitently struggle to logon in the first place then maybe we will need to ask their IT team to add our wifi however the certificate just won't apply if it is not on the same domain as the devices are enrolled it seems so we will always have the certificate problem unless Google do make a chnage. Thanks
  22. Hi Our Drama department are trialling Chromebooks. We have enrolled them to our Pupils google domain and installed the SSL certificate and all is working pretty well at the moment for the students We need them to also work for our staff and the girls in our neighbouring girls schools. Both staff and the girls are on completely different google domains. We can logon to them but the ssl certificate will not apply as apparently the certifictae installs for the users rather than the devices on chromebooks. I have spoken with google and they say it is not possible to apply the certificate for the other domains however we have in testing managed to do it manually for a couple of users. We thought this may at least be a work around, however the user we have just tried it on has tried to do the same on a different chromebook and on one he could not even logon and on the other he could not get to anything on the internet at all. So it all seems very hit and miss. Does anybody out there use chromebooks across different google domains and if so how have you managed to achieve this? Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks Does anyone else have cheomebooks
  23. Hi We have a locally hosted version of Firefly running on our 2008 R2 server. It has been working absolutely fine up until a few days ago when I did the latest Firefly update (6.22.5). Since the update emails are not going through wither when you send a message (and tick to email as well) or when an email address is on a form to be informed when someone has entered data. I have been in communication with Firefly and they have done a remote session but are saying the issue is because we haev weak ciphers and so they think their email system is rejecting them?? I have done an ssllabs test and we are A+ with Cipher strength nearly 90 however further down the report is shows under TLS 1.2 a number of Weak ciphers such as this TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA384 and TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA I can't see how it can work one minute and then suddenly, after their update, the ciphers are too weak for email to work. Does this sound likely to anyone who has Firefly? Assuming what they say is true, I am afraid I am a bit loss to know how I can resolve it. How do I stregthen the Ciphers? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
  24. Sorry another question! Is it possible to completely disable the candidate info screen? We do not want any of the information printed and the exam officer wants it to be able to print at the end of the exam quickly without entering all of that information. Thanks
