You are using the 800 series which is by far their best AP. If you configure Virtual Cell correctly you will get unprecedented WiFi for high density.

Guys, the best thing you can do is buy your own leased internet line and bring filtering under the control of the school, managed and secured exactly to your requirements. Spend a little more, it’s certainly worth the investment in your network, business and pupils. If you want free advice just ask?

There is some movement in the Desktop as a Service moving from corporate into EDU. What are you thoughts? Do you think it would work? What challenges and road blocks will it throw up? Do you support a change from a Cap-Ex model to subscription based? Looking forward to all your opinions.

abrigham replied to mattysmith80's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall

Hi All, Is anyone willing to explain VDI costs for both solutions below, what is needed for concurrent license etc. 1. Microsoft VDI on Server 16 with Win10 under a schools agreement with SA. 2. VMware View running on ESXi version 6 for W10 desktop. These will be accessed from thin clients onsite and pupils for BYOD and remote access.

The question is regarding the whole IT service to be completely outsourced.

So who are people using or part of? How much does it cost? Do you have to work for the company who takes over? Thanks

I have been a long standing Meru customer for many years, their Virtual Cell technology beats any other competitor in Education. Now they have been Fortinet and our kit is 5 years old, what now? Well I am really impressed with how Fortinet have imbedded their security expertise with the acquired tech. It's natural to stay with them for the trade in price. Looking at wireless lan controller, universal APs and wireless manager.

For a true SSO experience with the lack of review of RADIUS accounting you are better keeping the wifi and firewall/ UTM with the same vendor. I can help anyone with advice looking at the new Fortinet (Meru) solutions.

Hi Guys, Sadly uninstalling classic shell doesn't fix the original problem of the W10 menu. You need to leave Classic menu installed but default to original W10 menu.
-
Most of you will be reading this is your Windows 10 start just one day stopped working. The only know fix was to re-image the PC. I can now share a quick work around.... download and install classic shell start menu, you now have the option of both menus. If you prefer to disable the classic shell than the original W10 menu is fixed and working. Bizarre I know, but it beats re-imaging PCs.

We have moved to a complete Fortinet Security solution and for web filtering. Out of all the good features on the next generation firewall is is logging SSL keywords from search engines. This allows you to run powerful reports tailored to your safe guarding needs. I am happy to share advice on our setup should anyone be interested?
