  1. Hey guys, I’m looking for ideas to support keeping scores for a sports competition. I want to be able to have a digital point of access for a scorekeeper/timekeeper/judge to enter scores for their event, have those scores correlate with a participant ID and ideally arrive in a central spreadsheet. Looking at a couple of hundred participants and 5 sports to score. scores need to be easily collatable in a short period of time for awarding prizes which is why I want a digital solution. My initial thoughts are a Microsoft form with branching logic so that scorekeepers only need to see the event they are scoring from, input the participant ID and score and then using power automate to update spreadsheet rows by using the participant ID as a key reference. The more I pseudo code it in my head and play around with power automate the more fraught with problems this seems to be (from actually getting it to reference a row and then the potential for a response to the form overwriting the wrong data). Scorekeepers will all be smartphone and web familiar but scrolling around a shared spreadsheet on a small screen is a nightmare and I think also has its own potential for incorrect data entry while panning around the table, so although that would be the simple solution I’m not convinced it’s the the best. In an ideal world if I could print each participant an individual QR code that links to a data entry page that would be very shiny, but a system somewhere in the middle ground of this would be great. Appreciate any thoughts you have or pointers to an affordable application/site (for a one off (maybe annual if it goes well) event) that will get me to this goal appreciated.
  2. I’ve written a PA that listens to a consumables order list with columns for item, created by, order status, FAO dept etc. I’ve used a condition to only send email if ‘required’ and a switch with each department name to determine who to send the email to. It works and that’s great but it feels clunky to have 5 emails that all say the same thing and the only difference is the address being sent to. Unfortunately the email address for the ‘to’ field aren’t inside M365, otherwise I could use department information to pick the address. I feel as though there should be a way to have an array inside the script with department names and email addresses and have one email that has a script in the ‘to’ field that selects the correct address based on the FAO department in that table. But… I can’t figure out how to make or reference a table like this (I’d prefer not to create a list in sharepoint and have the table inside the flow). Any help greatly appreciated, or just a pat on the back to say I’m already doing it the best way works too.
  3. Thanks for the pointers. We have an excel spreadsheet that is used behind the scenes to do most of the job so the logic exists. I know a little html (mainly basic tables and formatting), so it sounds like I need to start finding my way around JavaScript to create the logic to use input fields and filter the data in to a couple of tables. I’ll drop you a quick PM
  4. Hiya, Hopefully this is the closest to the appropriate area of the forum. Mods, I welcome you to shunt it around if there is a better place. We've just picked up 6 Quest 2's for use as virtual experiences and I'm hoping that there are some users here that can inspire me with ways that they are managing/using them. I've also just come off of a call with Meta and although it's left me with more questions there may also some be some answers that others find helpful here? So I'll place them at the bottom of this post. Meanwhile, it looks like we should set these devices as consumer devices until there is more news from Meta. There is currently no supported MDM solution but from my own research ArborXR seems like a popular MDM and is free for organisations with under 50 users. If there is anyone in the community with any experience using AborXR to manage Quest devices I'd love to hear their experiences, as there is currently no volume licensing framework the main use case would be security, does this bolt on to the Oculus OS or is it an OS in its own right? I'd love to hear how others are using and managing these devices I may also drop Impero/Netsupport a message to see whether they have anything in the pipeline Thanks Jon ------------------- Meta Call notes: Quest for Business (replacement for Oculus for Business) time frame - - Open beta should have arrived in 2022 and has been pushed back to 2023, Rep is hoping Q1 or Q2 but is in the dark QfB cost - - Scalable but no news on what this will look like MDM - - Should be coming with Quest for Business - Quest for business is designed to be able to easily onboard and offboard consumer devices Volume Licensing - - No Idea, it would seem daft not to but there is currently no information on whether this will exist - Hopefully moving licenses from consumer licenses to a volume license will be possible Horizon Rooms as a breakout space into other apps - - New idea to my rep, going to pass it up Classroom management - - seems like education will want this but it doesn't sound as though Meta have really considered education openly
  5. I’ll start by saying this is possibly the wrong forum as it’s not strictly educational, but I’ve always found the members here incredibly helpful (please point me in the right direction if there is a forum better suited to my query) Simply put we would like to have a self filtering form that spits out a table (a pretty one but that’s a minor point) I’ve had a search of the web and to be honest I don’t know what keywords I need to find what I would like. I have moved from education to work at an activity centre and we have a number of activities that we run that are appropriate for different age ranges and different group sizes. We would like a teacher to be able to arrive at a web page, input an age range and number of students attending an activity day, have that filter out activities inappropriate to the age range and allow a teacher to then choose; 4 activities from a list (if there are a low number of students) or 6 activities (if there are a larger number of students. Using this information we would like to spit out a timetable for the day. I can think of ways to do this using branching logic in ms forms and using power automate to fill a table (but I don’t think they’d be particularly front of house pretty) Are there other solutions that people are aware of? Anything goes. Wordpress plug-ins, power apps, purchasing from a company that has already built it, commissioning someone to build it in html 5 or even coming back to a way of making forms do the job but make it pretty. (I suspect a fresh build might be out of budget but I’m open to listening) The caveat would be that a capable IT person would need to be able to edit the lists behind the scenes for updating later. I look forward to hearing peoples ideas (or telling me where I should be asking instead 😉)
  6. I think the best way to describe my troubles is to post a couple of screenshots. I'm trying to add an Image Gallery to a site page that links to a folder, so that when a new image is added to the folder it also gets added to the gallery. According to guides online I should see this (with an option to choose a source folder): Unfortunately, I am seeing this (and ahead of any queries I can't follow the add image link and just select the folder rather than specific images): Hopefully there's a tick box somewhere that someone can point me towards. Any help appreciated
  7. About all I remember of their position is that I'm fairly sure they were facing the back wall. Trawling through the BETT app at the moment and suspect they may be one of the unlisted stands (maybe a last minute pop up) I'll see if I can get in touch with BETT as well, thanks
  8. One of those times that you actually want an email back and it never comes through! This was a small stall (fairly sure it has G line at the back) offered workshops in which within a week they work with a group produce a novel from storyboarding on Monday to completion on Friday. Up on amazon for purchase the following Monday. They had no business cards or flyers I could take and they were taking down email addresses by hand. Their stall mainly consisted of a couple of tables and some shelves showcasing book sales that had been made (from junior school kids to fe students) I've been trawling the exhibitors list and I'm starting to think I imagined the 20 minutes I spent chatting with them. Anyone else talk to them and know who they are??
  9. I've looked over a couple of threads and have a couple of batch commands which on their own I believe should work. Before I spring them on a machine any advice on whether my mashing together of the 2 needs more finesse would be appreciated. Script so far below: REGEDIT4 ; @echo OFF ; CLS ; REGEDIT.EXE /S "%~f0" ; EXIT [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy\AppMgmt\{GPO reg key to remove}] ; wmic product where name="product to uninstall" call uninstall /nointeractive Thanks in advance
