We’re quite a small school approx 250:students. We pay just under 2K per year, yes talks through an API, also has a club module with booking, can also run bookings through calendar events and deals with payment too. Doesn’t do video parent evening though. Do you use SOCS? Links with that too

We do ours through my school portal. We dumped the isams parent portal and went with them instead. Parents can read current data held within isams including medical and address data, then can request the change. You can set it to write back into isams but we’d rather see what’s changing then make the change ourselves.

Hi, We’ve been with smoothwall now for coming up to three years. Whilst I like the product, the support is and has been appalling for the entire length of time we’ve been with you. To be fair, we’ve heard this for the las three years and it’s the same old story, we’re recruiting more people, changing our processes etc. I wonder why you always seem so short of support staff!

[isams] Billing invoices before roll over (fee paying)
kirbster73 replied to TechMonkey's topic in MIS Systems
We’re doing the same. Training starting in July, moving payroll too. Bursar retiring this year too so outsourcing the actual payments etc! -
What version of unifi are you on now? We have issues too with SSO and our smoothwall which sound very similar to yours. Have been advised not to run firmware updates though.

Hi, we are an isams school and use timetabler. We,moved to timetabler 3 years ago and I think it’s great. Yes, looks dated but does the job really well. Easy import into isams too if you wanted to. Feel free to DM if you have any other questions.

I’d be interested too, if you’d be so kind as to share your findings.

We’re moving to it this year. No bonus points for us though

Setting up Webinar through MS Teams.

I think I read somewhere that they’ve extended the license through til 1st October now. -
This is exactly why we use the meet now option within channels. When you start a meeting like this, the meeting doesn’t start until the teacher is there and ends when they click on end for all. There’s no entry in a calendar which allows pupils to enter whenever they want. We don’t schedule any meetings for exactly this reason

Teams - stopping students calling staff
kirbster73 replied to AJWhite1970's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
That’s exactly what we’ve done. Although, you should also note that, in a private channel, you can’t record a meeting when you start it with meet now. -

Printer Rentals or Leasing - What companys are there.
kirbster73 replied to newpersn's topic in General Chat
Am looking at leasing. What sort of cost savings do you guys make from leasing. Currently in a school where they buy everything, printers, toners, drums etc. They must be paying a fortune but due to the way they allocate budgets, they can't tell me their spend. I'm starting to track the toners, cartridges etc that we're buying but wanted to know what sort of pricing you have and how much you reckon you save in real terms. Presume there is labour saving too? -
I second all of what you say, certainly a step in the wrong direction!!! Madly frustrating.

[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Tenant Spam filter settings
kirbster73 replied to kirbster73's topic in Office Software
Hi,in exchange admin centre is a protection tab, inside there is the quarantine, spam filter, malware filter etc. Ours was set on 5 which is default, but we've had loads of spam, so I've turned it up. As an aside, I also noticed that our malware filter was also off!!! -
[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Tenant Spam filter settings
kirbster73 posted a topic in Office Software
Hi, Wondering what others have their spam filter settings as on O365. There is a setting for 1-10 for how strong the filter is. Apparently 5 is normal and the higher you go the more bulk mail is stopped as Spam. What do others have theirs set to? -
Hi Roberto, maybe we're doing something wrong, but I can't seem to get useable data out of fastvue when I'm looking at a single user's usage. For example, last week, I was using code.org in my class, yet when I ran a report on my usage, I got nothing back for that timeframe. Is there something really obvious that we're missing? I know it's hard to discuss without knowing our set up but we'd appreciate any insight you could give us.

Hi all, We have a Dell Sonicwall which we are extremely happy with for filtering, however, we struggle to get decent reports out of it regarding users and websites they visit. Do anyone have any experience of SonicWall and can they recommend how we can get these reports in a readable fashion from it. We've also had a trial of Fastvue, which is great for telling us about file downloads etc, but again doesn't seem to give us user by users reports for their usage? Perhaps we're doing something wrong but I'd love to hear from anyone who's got it working. Thanks,

It's random users at random times from what I can tell. Never everyone!

Hi, I've just had one user report the issue, in nslookup it came up as DNS request timed out. default Server: Unknown Address: 192.168.1.1 We pulled out the lead and plugged it in again and all was ok.

Hi all, Looking for some pointers for the experts here. Currently running 2 windows 2008r2 servers as DC, plus one other. Have approx 120 workstations almost all are windows 7, connected to a wired network. At random points throughout the day, machines are losing their network connection, normally noticed by the internet dropping. When this happens I can ping various IP addresses around the network and the internet but I can't get anything to show in IE or Chrome, even local controllers like the proxy server or wireless controllers. Currently we are fixing this by unplugging and repluggng the network cable from the machine and it seems to pick up all the network details again and all is fine. We have a sonic wall and a censornet proxy server. We're not massively technical but this problem has got us stuck. Can anyone suggest where we start looking?
