And the plot thickens once again! The old (original, ipad2, and the early airs) are all 1024x768 ... if the image from that is fitting, something else is going on here. Please post back the exact make/model of the laptop, and the operating system being used. It's not inconceivable that your laptop outputs something different to the projector than the screen ... but to provide intelligent commentary rather than posting an unhelpful essay, I need to know what gear we are both fighting with. There's a huge difference between wanting the impossible (I've been asked for it) and wanting your gear to work. My SIL was a teacher in a public that had an IT budget that I would love to have what they wasted. And her support staff didn't have the horsepower to do the simple stuff. I've cobbled together the best I can with zero budget (Private parochial), so I've seen both sides of the fence a bit.

Don't go deleting the array or you will be testing that backup way sooner than you wanted to! The first thing you need to find out is if there's a legitimate hardware raid controller in the machine or if it's one of the cheapo software raid (a.k.a "FakeRaid") setups. The projector has no way to force 4:3 in the "Normal" fashion. My first reaction was - that's stupid. Then I thought on it a bit, and there's a reason - an interactive device (used as it's supposed to be) will always be trying to use the entire display, because it must be able to respond to input over the whole display area. A "dumb" widescreen format projector you'd just change the aspect ratio to 4:3, the projector would just not use the outside edges of the chip, and you'd be done with it. This projector can't fathom that you want it to be dumb. Your IT people have done the best they can (Overall) of pounding a square peg into a round hole by taking the widescreen display all the way out horizontally - and this leaves white space vertically. The only other option - and it's hardly an option - would be to set the projector aspect ratio to "match input" That setting (with the laptop still set to 1024x768) will make the image look worse - it will produce the same black bands. But if the projector is moved away from the board, the image gets bigger (horizontally and vertically), and you could fill the screen, with the black bands projecting onto the wall. Whether that particular flavor of ugly works, only you can answer. But if you do that, and hook up a DVD player, the edges of the image would display on the wall, not the board. Bottom line, there's no good answer, the best I can give you is a kludge - widescreen projector vs 4:3 Smartboard has been done many times - but that particular projector is just too good for the job at hand.

It's not quite that simple... For Arabic, your best bet would be installing the Arabic language pack in windows. Here's a YouTube on it ... the guy who does it is speaking Arabic - but you can watch and execute even if you don't speak it.

There you have it ... Hit F10 during POST and follow the guide I posted above. If F10 doesn't work, you'll have to reenable IP from RBSU - the destructions to do this are in the manual I linked above. I would be sure to go into the array config part of IP if for no other reason than to verify the array is set up the way you want it - before you install and then discover it's not what you want.

Servers bought off Fleabay typically had their drives pulled/wiped, and who knows what they did in the RBSU (Nuke the array configuration...) I'd go into the RBSU (F9 during POST) and make sure the Raid controller/array configurations are correct and it actually sees the drives, then retry the install.

The bands will show on the laptop screen if it's a widescreen - had a native 4:3 projector hooked up to a widescreen HP laptop, when I set the laptop to the projector's native resolution it filled the laptop screen vertically but then obviously had leftover space horizontally. My teacher was the "go with the flow" type who didn't mind (at least not enough to have a hissy with me about it) the scrunchy screen on the laptop ... but if the person who has this room is more demanding ... a desktop with a 4:3 monitor hooked into a vga splitter will get them off your case. I'd start with the laptop - it should be obvious quickly that the output shape will now fit the Smartboard with a bit of projector adjustment - and once you've confirmed that 4:3 aspect ratio in projector and 1024x768 on the display settings will work, you can always swap in a desktop if you need to calm the room's occupant.

You have missed the magic combination. Your board is a 4:3 aspect ratio and the projector is a native 16:10 The native resolution of that projector is 1280x800 - when picking settings, you cannot exceed either number. Put the projector aspect ratio as 4:3 Set the computer feeding it the video to 1024x768, which is the highest 4:3 resolution that will work ... The next highest 4:3 would be 1280x960, but the projector can't use it because 960>800. If the source device is widescreen ... You can either attach a 4:3 monitor if it's a desktop - or put up with black bands on the sides if it's a laptop. If you set the projector to 4:3, and feed it a 16:9 or 16:10 resolution input, it will still clip the image.

3148812 broke the universe if it was installed 3159706 was the "fix" for 8812 - if you needed Windows 10 support - it wasn't necessary if you only run 7 (and hadn't installed 8812) and in broken installs in a 7 only environment simply removing it restored function. It doesn't hurt to install it in 7 environments (provided you do the post-install procedure) @Sheridan - can you temporarily drop the Sophos firewall on a client and the server? I'd try it just to rule it out.

STOP! First off, Your "Products and Classifications" needs cleaning out. That's where you tell it what you want updates for. When you try to go in, it's highly likely it will time out - multiple times, keep mashing retry until it gets there. Un-select the products you no longer need. @Sheridan -- sorry, should have been more explicit. The ABSENCE of that update has been known to cause long searches. Does your SERVER have KB3148812, KB3159706, both, or none installed? - and are the test OU machines 7, 10, or a mix?

In WSUS-ese, "needed" translates to "available" when you run Windows update. Why they used different terminology ... We will never know.

Application compatibility toolkit - create a shim with "run as invoker" from an admin account. Removing it was a good strategy for people who aren't planning on Windows 10 and it was a "quick fix" for this update (and 8812) borking the universe - for those who's WSUS server didn't update from itself - or have blanket auto approval rules. My WSUS server - gets its updates from WSUS, and the tragedy showed up on the web long before I would have approved either one, and the manual config actions had been documented and tested before I released it. Long-term, best to just do the manual configuration - but for those who are riding 7 into the ground (count me as one) it is easier to just decline/hide.

Ditto this statement, at least on spinning rust and gigunda drives. The bathtub curve is not your friend here ... The probability of drives from the same batch, with the same number of hours on them, failing close to one another suggests that the odds of a URE at the wrong time are just too high to chance.
