  1. Okay, firstly, sorry for the double post. Secondly, I spoke to my county support company and they've sorted it out for me, looks like I had a conflict with my IP addresses somewhere.
  2. Okay, I'm trying to set the machine up with a static IP address again and although my network settings look right whenever I do a ping command it defines the websites IP address but doesn't receive any packets back.
  3. @siuko - Excellent That's sorted that, now it's telling me it can't find the key to install (jcameron.asc) @3s-gtech - I'm using ubuntu server so everything is being done through command line, I originally set up the IP settings in the install, I've reverted to using DHCP for the time being but when I switch back to using static I will be using an IP which is definitely free and using vi/nano to set it. UPDATE Realised I had missed -key from the key... D'OH!
  4. I have been having massive problems over the past week, installing and setting up what is supposed to be my schools brand new intranet/VLE server. First off, I've had nothing but problems with installing and configuring the RAID systems on it, but that isn't a concern of mine anymore as I think I cracked that. What are consistent problems for me are as follows; Static IP address - I seem to be setting everything up right in it but when I go static I lose internet connectivity. Proxy Server - I have got to a point where I can apt-update through my proxy, but I can't use wget to get anything I want (namely Webmin) where am I going wrong? Webmin - See proxy problems, the one time I did manage to get it to install I couldn't connect to it at all though! Frustration is mounting, I need some help & advice from anyone that is willing!
  5. have picked up a copy of that pendrive software, seems pretty decent. Will give it a trial run wiht my ladys laptop this week.
  6. So I could just write an autorun script for the drive to copy it's entire contents so a certain place? Sounds like a simple enough idea.
  7. A very simple question: Does anyone know of a way to automatically backing a pen drive up when ever it is plugged into a machine?
  8. I talk to a few of the teachers here, I find the friendlier teachers are the ones that haven't always been teachers! Otherwise I try and speak to everybody as much as I can.
  9. If you log onto your safetynet filter there is an option in there to allow unfiltered access. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for us.

  12. I love playing all kind of god-sim games, started way back when I was little on populous and a few others and then it moved forward >.< Yes I do wonder why I haven't got nay command buttons when looking down from tall buildings, damn this RL game and it's crappy interfaces. But yeah, Little Miss, I would advise getting a new base unit! I realised only the other day that my personal 3.4 Ghz P4 just doesn't cut the mustard anymore (and thats a socket 775 one )
  13. Mine was developed from Sanguinius the primarch of my Blood Angels, which is an army from Games Workshops: Warhammer 40'000. And it stuck!
  14. Jesus, I'd of simply encrypted the network and booted him of the connection. I'd of also asked my 'friend' if he'd had it encrypted previously and if he had reset it, then I'd of ignoring them as they went 'errrrr'. Typical coppers though.
  15. Ditto *goes on mission through his inbox* Here it is: Mums know all!!! A young man called Peter invited his mother for dinner, during the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how handsome Peter's flatmate, Simon, was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between the two, and this only made her more curious. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Peter and his flatmate than met the eye. Reading his mum's thoughts, Peter volunteered, 'I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Simon & I are just flatmates'. About a week later, Simon came to Peter saying, 'Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the frying pan, you don't suppose she took it do you?' 'Well I doubt it, but I'll e-mail her just to be sure' said Peter. So he sat down and wrote: DEAR MOTHER, I'M NOT SAYING THAT YOU 'DID' TAKE THE FRYING PAN FROM MY HOUSE, I'M NOT SAYING THAT YOU 'DID NOT' TAKE THE Frying Pan BUT THE FACT REMAINS THAT IT HAS BEEN MISSING EVER SINCE YOU WERE HERE FOR DINNER. LOVE PETER Several days later, Peter received an email from his mother which read: DEAR SON, I'M NOT SAYING THAT YOU 'DO' SLEEP WITH SIMON, AND I'M NOT SAYING THAT YOU 'DO NOT' SLEEP WITH SIMON, BUT THE FACT REMAINS THAT IF HE WAS SLEEPING IN HIS OWN BED, HE WOULD HAVE FOUND THE F**KING FRYING PAN BY NOW. LOVE MUM Lesson of the day, NEVER LIE TO YOUR MOTHER
