we have loads of these in school and they are great value for money as some visualisers are very expensive and this has some good functionality for a good price. I like the way you can zoom with the camera and it auto focus for you, you can take photos of what the camera is looking at that is stored on the device. We have ours hooked up to teachers pc and projector so they can project either the pc screen or visualiser. Very handy piece of kit especially for english, science and dt departments. No issues since install, they dont need drivers either and as we are on a cc3 network that makes life so much easier!!!

dude, depends on how much money you want to spend and what you want to do with the media center? Just for movies pics internet etc or do you want to play games on the machine aswell?? let me know and will look into it for you

What network are you running this on? Is it CC3?

[ghost] Ghost 8.2 issue creating an image - drivers?
graywoodford replied to graywoodford's topic in O/S Deployment
Hi I got a little bit further with it yesterday, when you have added the driver it goes to add pc dos screen and then on the next screen it will ask you for the ghost exe file and a section for paramiters. It was falling over here but I found that it was looking in the wrong directory for the ghost exe, I found a ghost32.exe and pointed it there and it allowed me to get further. Seems to have added ok yesterday but i am going to try and take an image today to see if it worked yesterday but will update this when i have tried. -
We are using an older version on ghost (8.2.0.1117) and have recently got some new machines in that we have installed xp on and have tried using ghost to create an image but ghost is having an issue with the newer on board lan drivers. This is the latest one i have downloaded from Asus and tried in input into ghost: Realtek LAN Driver V5.726.525.2009 When I go into ghost boot wizard to add the new drivers on the server I have chosen tcp/ip network boot image, clicked add and then tried both the packet driver and NDIS2 driver, left the mode to automatic. I have checked my switch and it is open for multicasting (as we have done it before) and i have tried a seperate network card in the machine (ones from the old machine that i know have worked) and they worked straight away so i believe that it is a driver issue with the new lan on the mobos. Can anyone help me get these drivers in ghost so i can multicast/unicast please, it seems to me that this is the issue but just cannot get it to work. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks
-
We normally just pxe boot from the lan and roll it out over the network for the images, alot easier you just need to make sure that the mobos support pxe booting. Pretty quick and not that many issues (until now! got new machines in and need to add the driver in ghost for the new boards but doesnt want to play ball)

I hate bt, soooooooooooo many issues with them at home!!! For the first month fine, i had my 2 meg connection that i had with previous supplier but then dropped to 512 connection? After raising my concerns with them over months and phone calls to them every 2 days and also 3 engineer visits they managed to get my connection up to 1 meg and was told this was the best it could get. I kept asking why i could recieve 2 meg for the last 2 years until now but they could never answer me. After 6 months of putting up with the issues and very poor internet i managed to get out of my contract and go with another supplier that was instantly better. I went straight to O2, got 4 meg off the bat with nearly 1meg upload aswell, never had an issue with them since, customer service is fantastic (unlike BT) and i get through to an english call centre when i call and to top it all off it is 1/3rd the price that i was paying for BT's crappy 1meg!!!!! As i said i hate BT!!!!!! sorry rant over now

"CC3 ready" machines - backup partition?
graywoodford replied to Nozza's topic in Network and Classroom Management
when we get new rm machines we just do a complete build ourselves as this is easier. We then take a fresh image after the build when all the packages are allocated and installed on the machine. Saves so much time later down the line -
If you have county support give them a call would be the best option
-
Just thinking about it have you tried creating a new test user and see if it happens with them on a workstation that the pupil has had a problem on? Knowing CC3 a good way to resolve issues is to delete the user and then re create them again (make sure that you save all documents first ofcourse and them put them back in the new user area) Long way around but if it is only affecting a few users could be done
-
Have you tried deleting the users application settings after a health check and reset? These will auto generate again when they log on, maybe there is something in there that is causing the issue. Does this always happen on specific workstations or is it just whatever workstation the user logs on to?
-
Have you done a health check then reset the users profile while they are not logged on to the system, that should sort it out.
-
Have you checked that you are fully up to date with all rm updates on all servers at all? we don't generally have an issue with this.
-
we had a similar issue but the pause and unpause solved our issue but we was stumped for a good month with it, sorry cant be any more help

I know but compared to DDR 2 prices now i think it is expensive, can get a gig of ddr2 for £8 or £9 now!! stupidly cheap. It's Just the board doesn't take DDR2!! If only

Hi Just on the random scrounge, im trying to set up a linux server on an old machine but could do with some ram (on the cheap) I could ideally do with a gig but was just wondering if anybody had some lying around they didnt need or would sell cheaply. After looking around buying this ram new is too expensive now, I just want a test box for a few things and to learn linux more really but I dont want to spend £30 to do it for new ram. Its ddr pc3200 is what im after Thanks
