Had a demo and they want 5k and £500 a year to host and support the system. Now i am not incarge of the website now but see this as way to much . We have Mambo now which does most things however INCO system looked eaiser for non it users to use and therefore impressed the powers that be. We are however soon to have kaleidos as our VLE ( i know but every in our borough will get it due to RM and BSF). I am not to familier with Kaleidos but i will be implementing it and supporting it . Does anyone know if i can host the website within Kaleidos?

We had this crossover problem for a week or so when the students found out it could slow everything down. We found is does take time for the network to come to a halt its not instant.

The Design leader would also like some software that allows students to design kitchens and gardens. has anyone used software like this on a Mac. Also what other design software are people using?

We use http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-US/Products/SynchronEyes+Classroom+Management+Software/ works very well and appears fast on the network. the teachers like the Eyes to the front option and the bradcasting to the whole class. A bit of configuration is need to configure it for multiple IT rooms so one teacher does not pick up the whole school.

I made one without WinINSTALL LE but without the mp3 codec. Just added that to a Shared rea with basic instructions for users to add it if needed. The students are really getting into it. With them recording the online radio reminds me of my old home taping days.

I am sure i have read that all Sims users will require at Least SQL 2000 soon? Also windows 2003. I will go check it out again as i remember asking the LEA about this and getting no reply.

We use offline files - the staff can save to the My Documents folder and it gets sycronised when they connect back on to the school network. They have no access to anywhere else on the laptop. Its not the best system as there are issues but it appears to be ok. I do feel asking them to save on a usb pen is asking for trouble as we say usb pens are for back up and transporting data not a file storage device.

Thanks for all the support. After the big Power cycle (turned it all off and back on again) tracked it down to a faulty port on the main network switch great network all back up.......however as the profile server keeps rebooting all students profiles have been moved to another server and when users first run any office application the computer hangs and does nothing else at Prepairing to install Office screen. Maybe a corupt default profile i think i am checking now. Again thanks the help, as you can guess with the whole school network down i have had lots of Fun

Hello, I have major network errors and like any advice i can get at the moment. network history 550 - Worsstations 12 servers 20 netgear switches 5 fibre connection with convertor to copper Last Wednesday some smart student decided to loop back the network by plugging in a network cable in two port in a room. this problem was found and fixed quickly however since that day the network has just gone crazy. It is very very slow loading profiles - when it works. At first it was thought it was the profile server so all roaming profiles were moved to another server however now when the user runs office it hangs on the configuring office for the first time. Switches are failing then working again. It all points to network hardware however it seems so random. It works somtimes then it does not Server event logs dont say much that links to this. DHCP , DNS allworking OK. Any ideas of areas to look at would be great.

I love sport i think is is natural to do somthing energetic after sitting at Computers all day (and night playing online games) I do circuits twice a week , go the gym, mountain boarding and some free running. I also play Nintendo Wii :-)

Deployed lesson monitor last september however quickly encouraged all teachers to use Lesson register within Sims. All staff picked it up quickly (quicker than i thought) and now use it for every lesson and we no longer have an afternoon reg as Period 5 doubles up as PM reg. Lesson monitor is still used by admin but the local access dtaabse things is an issue and if a problem occurs deleting this 99% of the time fixes the problem. For the record i wanted to go with PARS but am happy now with this solution.
