I use a similar Robocopy script run on a schedule on the first Sunday of every month - but they still seem to be adding more than I can delete!!!

Are your IPs allocated through DHCP, including DNS reslover addresses? Is this one machine not getting it's IP via DHCP? Time to check Network Properties, I think!! 7&Y

Powdarrmonkey - single word, usupported answers are generally considered rude and in poor taste. Would you like to clarify why it is wrong. Is it because you don't consider PCs electrical? Or that it is safe for students to use them unsupervised? I would hate to be in your shoes if one of your little 'angels' decided to pour a bottle of water into the PC, and electrocuted themselves...

Dell once took 9 months to supply some drives for a server, then sent the wrong ones... Never bought Dell since.

Computers are electrical items. Health and Safety rules state that that students must never use electrical equipment unsupervised. Infrom SLT they are breaking the rules by allowing this to happen... 7&Y

Yes - this is direct from their spec sheet. We have raised it with them, and they are adamant that this is the requirement, even though it will leave 4.3GB RAM lying idle. Go figure...

Is anyone using the Behaviour Managent Module for Facility/CMIS? If you are, can you tell me: Does it work successfully? Are you using the recommended spec server (including 8GB RAM on a 32-bit system...)? Does it slow your system down? We appear to be having a difficulty tracking down a problem with the Behaviour Management Module, and it seems Serco won't help us out because we aren't using the recommended spec. Cheers, Andy E.

We have some full Windows 95 and DOS 6.2 licences which we use as Full licences so that we could use our Software agreement to install Windows on a few PCs. Rang a supplier (name withheld to protect the innocent!) for some PCs without Windows and told it was illegal to sell machines without Windows - in Microsoft's dreams!!!)

We use con2prt.exe to set printers on each PC. A batch file runs at logon to pick up some Environment Variables to set default and other printers dynamically.

There are a couple of settings in php.ini in your PHP folder and config.ini in your Moodle folder that control the size of files you can upload. Can't remember what they are offhand, but a search at Moodle.org would turn them up. 7&Y

We have ours running on Windows 2003/PHP/MySQL/FastCGI/Wincache. Serves about 150 simultaneous users, and flies along! Cheers, 7&Y

DVBLogic - provider of digital streaming connectivity solutions sell S/W that allows this for around 50 quid - apparently as many tuners as you want. I'm testing it with nine - yes nine!, and they all work feeding TV to Windows 7 Media Centre clients. The advantage is that if one client is watching, say, BBC1, anyone else wanting BBC1 gets the same feed.The website claims the server side is UPNP capable, so that's another option. It will also allow connection to DVB-S and DVB-C. Interesting! 7&Y

IIRC, W7 creates a small partition at the beginning of the drive, but these MR052's also have a small recovery partition there as well. Perhaps W7 is trying to boot to partition 2, which is where it would normally find the OS, but, as partitions 1 & 2 are taken up and W7 is installed on partition 3, it's going belly up! 7&

Same here - no staff present - no use of kit!! We just say pupils are not allowed to use electrical equipment when they are unsupervised...same as lathes and drillstands in D&T

We use GLPI - does an automated inventory when used with OCS. A bit fiddly to get started, but well worth it. You can add all your networking gear, and set up all the links/ports to keep track of what goes where. It will keep track of your Printer catridge use, and all your consumables too. Does lots more besides - did I mention Helpdesk with automatic Ticket creation from email? Crumbs, it does everything bar make the tea! Excellent application - oh, and it's free!!

Beyondexec via scripts run at various times after 15:30. Good thing about Beyondexec is that you can set a switch so that it will only shut down those PCs that are logged off, so that there is no 'nag' screen for those still using them. The final script of the day forces a logoff before shutting down - surprising how many are left logged on when people go home - or is it??

LanTopolog does a basic mapping of a network, as long as your switches are set for SNTP. You can then use something like Visio to do a proper pretty picture. If you leave LanTopolog running with the default settings, it will re-scan your switches twice a day so keeping the network map up-to-date. It's not perfect, but it's free! Cheers, Andy E.

Is this to a server? I ask because this is the kind of message you get with a Desktop machine that has hit its 10 concurrent connections limit.
