Do you know what version of the driver you used to resolve the problem? We have had some similar issues with the 3280s connected to Promethan interactive panels via a DP to HDMI converter where the sound works but then for no apparent reason stops. Tried some different drivers but problem seems to keep coming back.

How long ago were the changes made?

Hello, we are moving from RM CC4 to a new server with 2016 on over the summer in our primary school. Currently we are using Office 365 through something setup by our LA, longer term I would quite like to move away from that and use our own (currently unused) O365 tenant linked to our onsite setup to simplify login. I don't intend to do it right away but am hoping to not do anything now that would cause problems in the future! We bought a domain name for our O365 tenant so can use that for our new onsite domain. From what I've read recommended practice would be the Active Directory on our Server 2016 domain would be created as a subdomain, something like ad.ourdomain.net, is that correct? I'm not doing the server part of the install myself so just wanting to make sure I'm asking for the right thing. Any other tips would be gratefully received. Thanks.

First of all I will say this may not be ideal as it was originally only supposed to be very temporary however the funding for our new server wasn't available so it has had to last a year and or so longer than originally anticipated. It's a while ago and I didn't document it very well but the procedure as far as I can recall was:- Installed the Office 2016 KMS host on the server and added our key. (does RM version use MAK?) Created an MSP file for Office 2016 ProPlus which in my case I called Office2016v1.MSP. Main thing I did with MSP was to prevent OneDrive client installing iirc. Saved MSP file in root of Office setup folder alongside Setup.exe. Imported Office as a CC3 application Edited package. In 'Contents' tab under Command line arguments added '/adminfile Office2016v1.MSP' (without 's) to Installation box and '/uninstall ProPlus /config config.xml' to Uninstallation box. Then the usual stuff when importing a package like checked 'Contraints' tab to make sure appropriate OSes were ticked. To get round the issue of lack of registry options in management console I put a custom reg file into user policies. Didn't do all that much with that, was mainly to remove the message about updates when first opening a program. Should have perhaps done more if I'd known it was going to run for so long. Not noticed any issues though but we are just a primary school. Hope that helps.

Hello, Had a quick search but couldn't spot any other threads about this. If I've missed one sorry! We are looking at moving from our current RM CC4 server to a more 'vanilla' Windows environment over the summer when we replace our creaking six year old server. We are without an ICT Coordinator and have been for a while so am interested in seeing what software others are using the cover the curriculum and any positives/negatives to help steer us in the right direction please? Currently we have Office 2016/Office 365, the dated RM software like Colour Magic along with the usual primary stuff like Scratch and Google Earth. There seems to be quite a few web based options like 2Simple and J2E. Does anyone have any experience of them? Thanks!

Currently to view footage you need to physically go to the DVRs which are in our server room and that requires a key that only certain members of staff have. Most of our uses of footage so far have been for internal issues but we have had a couple of times where we've suffered vandalism and that has needed handing on to the police. Do people tend to have their CCTV on a separate network, VLAN it off or just have it on the normal network?

That sounds promising as they've often laughed at ours! Thanks for all the feedback. Sorry, should have said it's a primary school (so relatively small site) and the current CCTV cabling all comes back to DVRs in the server room. There is CAT 5 laid for the current cameras, however they just use 1 pair for the camera so there's normally multiple cameras coming off one cable so we will need to add some extra in for some areas, or relay depending how they've split it. It's a modern build so no asbestos to worry about which is a bonus though it will take a fair bit of time of course, but we will have to do it in stages as funds allow so it should be manageable. We have some spare ports available on the PoE switch we use for wireless access points, though I was thinking it may be better to have it networked totally separate. I am hoping to update our servers this year so sticking some news disks in one of them may be an option for an NVR. I think no matter what we end up with it can't be much worse than what we've got now! Cheers.

Hi, we have a fairly low resolution CCTV system based on Concept Pro Cameras and DVRs that we would like to move away from. The intention would be to move away gradually to an IP camera based system doing as much of the work ourselves as possible. We currently have 30 cameras (around half external) and ideally would like to add a couple more to add greater coverage (although better quality cameras with wider lenses may solve some of those issues!). Having looked through past threads Hikvision and Ubiquiti seems to be very popular. I'm interested to get an idea of costs so that I can take some figures to SLT and Governors of an overall estimate for the whole project and an estimate for the initial phase for getting the first few cameras up and running. One of the things I'm most unsure about is the best way to store the footage, for the number of cameras we are likely to have are DVRs, NAS or a Server better for the longer term (Bearing in mind scalability/ease of adding new devices, access to the footage by myself and SLT, updateability/'futureproofing' and so on)? I think that I should be able to bring pretty much all the network cables back to one location - our server room. Any hints from your own experiences would be greatly appreciated. Cameras, cabling, somewhere to store the footage, PoE switch or power injectors, time...am I forgetting anything? Software? Thanks.

The KMS key would normally be added to the KMS host, which would then be used to activate the product when the KMS client connects to it. If you are connecting to a server with a KMS key already installed you shouldn't need to do anything with it. Or at least that's my understanding of it.

Hello, We are considering RM Unify to hopefully make it easier to tie our current CC4 system to our new O365 tenant for our primary school staff and students. Currently running CC4.3 but will probably go for a more standard Windows setup when it's time to upgrade (if the budget ever allows!). Does have anyone know any alternatives out there to consider before we take the plunge? Thanks!

We have a support contract at present but it only covers issues with the existing system and setup. Any changes aren't covered no matter how minor and their fees seem quite high to me. I'm used to being able to sort most things myself with other systems we have, so it's quite frustrating not being able to even just take a look at this thing that we own.

JordanT91, thanks for that. I managed to get the IP address as it's still the default, I just can't login. What we want to change is that we have an extension in the head's office that rings if the main office line isn't picked up within a certain number of rings. We would like that to happen on another extension as well. TechMonkey, the NEC has worked fine so far. I don't think we are doing anything particularly exciting with it though. A mix of digital and analogue handsets. No VOIP or anything like that.

Hello, looking for some advice please if anyone has any experience in this area! We have an NEC SV8100 telephone system within our school. The LEA's chosen phone support company charge a crazy amount of money to make any sorts of changes. Happily, so far we haven't had a great deal of problems but there is a slight change we could do with making to an extension. I think some minor changes I could possibly achieve myself if I had access to the system, however we have no access at all and the company are so far refusing to give me the login details which is very frustrating. Is it unreasonable for us to have access to a system we own? They keep trying to fob me off with different excuses which is making me all the more keen to actually get the details. I can appreciate that in the wrong hands the system could be rendered unusable but it is our equipment! Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before, if so how did you get round it? Thanks!
