Sophos Email- Microsoft 365, no external emails
andyk1975 replied to andyk1975's topic in Cloud Services
Yes, certainly could be a factor, although we arent recieving anything at the moment - but likely to be connected. Thanks for that. -
Morning Anyone else have similar issues? We use Sophos email which routes incoming email to Microsoft 365. Emails are being recieved by Sophos and are accepted and delivered. However these are not being recieved by Microsoft 365. Everything seems to be ok from what I can see, no changes have been made from my side. Is there an issue with Microsoft email routing??

Thanks Dave. I have browsed to the page you mentioned and can see all the GP setting for Chrome. Again, everything seems as it should do and the policies set are those that are applying.
-
Yes, we have, sorry I should have added that point. Logged in and then set to sync - it even comes up with a pop up message to say what do you want to sync, and bookmarks is selected. Thanks for reply.

I have a number of users who wish to login to the Google Chrome in school and sync thier bookmarks, so they can see them on any machine they login to. Some features were disabled in GP, but I have now set "Enabled Bookmark bar", "Enabled Browser SignIn settings", "Enable bookmark editing". Users are now able to login to the browser, but bookmarks are not showing. We have the latest version of Chrome, I have updated the admx files. I have checked whether the smoothwall was blocking anything and it doesn't appear to be. I have been through all the GP's which are being applied and there are no conflicting policies. I have even looked at Impero, to see if any settings were blocking this, but again nothing. Any ideas anyone? It seems such a simple thing to get working! Thanks

Yes, experienced the same issues with PSF, hadn't thought that might be the issue.

Just had an update from ESS: Good morning, Investigation into this issue remains on-going and we are working alongside our service provider to identify a potential solution or alternative service provision. Please accept our apologies for the continued service disruption. Kind regards, SIMS Support

Yes, we have certain issues with InTouch. Some messages are being sent and recieved and others are not. We also use the Emergancy Alert button to email staff and these emails are not working. I have a call open with ESS and they have confirmed there has been an issue with Intouch since Wednesday morning. It must be something major, as I was told not to expect a solution this week!

Thanks, I'll look into this. It's a possibilitiy.

We have exactely the same issue in school. GP applying a 'File Association XML' file always set Adobe Reader as the defualt App for PDF files. Again, as you have said, this has now reverted to opening using Google Chrome. Very frustrating for staff. I too found the GP setting you mentioned but ours was already enabled and so, for us, I don't think that is our solution. The only thing I can see that has changed is our machine our updating now to 2004 build of windows 10. However, it seems to be quite randon, so we are still looking at GP not applying.

Smoothwall Gateway going down
andyk1975 replied to Benjaminbl12's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Glad it is all sorted. How did you go about getting the hardrive replaced? We have 2 x 1TB drives in our box, so obviously would need 2 x 1TB SSD. Is this something Smoothwall provided and replaced? Was there a charge?- 26 replies

Smoothwall Gateway going down
andyk1975 replied to Benjaminbl12's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I am glad I have stumbled upon this thread! We are having exactely the same issues with our Smoothwall box - and have for a number of weeks. The internet slows down, then authentication box start popping up on users PC's, then it last 30 mins or so and then picks up again. It happens the same time everyday - Thursday's particualry for some reason. I have spoken with smoothwall, who are changing our authentication method to idex next week, but reading this thread it makes me wonder whether it is a hardware issue on the Smmothwall Box and not an issue with our authenitication / DC's. It is a newish box - replaced in Feb 2020, and is running Leeds 39. I have blocked the IP that has been mentioned, but our connection tracking table was already set to Auto. Very strange and difficult to pin point exactely what is happening.- 26 replies

[ms office - 2016] Excel 2016 blank screen when opening file
andyk1975 replied to dapaulio's topic in Office Software
Well, I have fixed the issue for the time being. I concluded that other users could use excel without any issue on the offending machine, so I removed the users local cached profile from that machine, restarted and excel is now working correctly for her. I will investigate further to see what is cached in the local profile that would be causing Excel to behave like this. Something is appdata no doubt. -

Have you managed to get to the bottom of this issue? We are having the same issue, but only with the odd machine. Like you say it is frustrating as everything else is the same across the network, and I can't see any differences between those affected machines and the ones that are working! Like you we have tried all the work rounds and fixes but no joy - I was wondering whether there is a windows update affecting things, but all machines have the same updates! Will post if I find anything useful. -
Thanks for replying - I have had a look at the GP Settings and funnily enough the 2 mapped drives that the lady is having issues with ARE set to Update already!

Hello, One of my users has been expereincing a frustrating issue. As part of her job she has lots of network folders open via Windows Explorer and she will minimise ones she doesn't need and will go back to them when she does. However, she is finding that these minimised folders are automatically closing are a while (she has actually see this happen) meaning she has to go back into the folders again and reopen. Not a massive issue, I appreciate, but it is proving quite frustrating for her. Has anyone got any ideas of where to start to look for a solution? Maybe there is a GP setting We are using Windows 10 Education, 1803 Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for the info - I have had a look at our Office 365 and as you say it is currently and issue with Office 365 / Chrome update. Will wait for some updates!

Having the same issues today in school. Teachers are reporting that they can't download attachments from email using Chrome browser. Works fine in IE and Edge, but not Chrome. All worked fine yesterday and no changes have been made on the network / Group Policy. Will be checking Windows Updates to see whether they have broken anything!

Andy - yes similar to me. I have just spoken with Barracuda and had a webinar outlining thier product Barracuda Essentials for Office 365 - incorporating security features, backup, etc. The product does look very good and adds to the protection in school, but like yourself, I had similar feelings regards whether it was actaully something we REALLY need.....I am going to wait for the pricing - as always! - and then take it from there. Barracuda explained that Microsoft themselves reccommend to its customers that additional security is needed for Office 365, and Microsoft do not back up emails. Like the comment above, its one of those things that you perhaps you dont need, until you do!

Yes, same issue here too - all corresponds with what people have found. Removed / disabled Smart Ink and IE started to show emails again. However, issue I have now is staff say they use Smart Ink all the time.........!
