  1. Hi all. I'm completely new to powershell, but recently taken over here and had to make some changes to a script that runs as a scheduled task, and which generates a password for a domain account to authenticate our public wireless against. It then email this password to a few addresses. I've tried to add a group to the list of addresses it'll email, but it's not worked. What I've done to the relevant section is in red/bold below: Function sendMail { Param( [string]$pwd ) $smtpFrom = "[email protected]" $smtpTo = "[email protected]" $smtpCC = "[email protected]", "[email protected]" $smtpBCC = "[email protected]" $smtpSubject = "Public Wifi Password for Today" $smtpBody = "The public wifi password for today is as follows`r`n`r`nUsername: public`r`nPassword: $pwd`r`n`r`nBest wishes`r`n`r`nIT Department" "auser" still gets it, but the comma and the following group do not. Anyone tell me what needs adjusting? Really really grateful for any help. Thanks.
  2. Ooh, could you tell me the plan you're on? I've got the 'dreaded letter' myself, need some bargaining angles.
  3. Hello - was browsing around and saw a tutorial where a gent posted the following output from (I guess) some command or another: Operating System : CentOS 6.5 Final IP Address : 192.168.0.227 Hostname : rd5.tecmintlocal.com Disk 1 [20GB] : /dev/sdb Disk 2 [20GB] : /dev/sdc What (if anything) spits that out? Many thanks anybody who knows.
  4. That is a good point, and does sound interesting! Did you have a plan for SIMS (or CMIS)? Was it to be Wine or something else?
  5. You see, the advantages of Micro$oft gear is that the knowledge is out there with regards to the "why won't this WORK???!?!" 11pm google-panic over Exchange etc. It's just not with Linux as the 'entry level' of knowledge is higher. That's always going to be a very persuasive plus. I've no idea how to apply group policy etc with Linux to Linux clients. I can do some things with skeleton directories and bash scripts but I'd be utterly at sea on a Linux-only network with Linux clients. We do have some Linux clients that I've put Lubuntu and Gofris on, which essentially just open a browser for the kids and once restarted go back to my 'factory' setting (think 'Deep Freeze' for Windows) but that's it. They're 900mhz and 512mb I think and the fastest-booting clients in school. SEN love them. I started learning Linux later on in life. Not too bad, have LPIC cert now. For general advice, if you want to learn it, get a VM and just break it a BUNCH. Don't feel bad, just smash away. For a first project, set up a samba server with winbind so you can restrict access against AD. That's useful and 'feel good'. Then maybe tackle the CompTIA Linux+. You'll find each stage hard going but persevere. Linux is really frustrating. I'll say again, REALLY frustrating if you're used to Windows, but don't let it make you feel stupid as you learn. You're not stupid. Linux is.

  7. Nothing handles like someone else's vehicle.
  8. We use Xibo here. I'm quite keen to get North Korean TV streaming in the office but I can't seem to find a dependable source. How the hell am I supposed to find out how the leader is doing without that?
  9. Hi - might be worth an ask on the Xibo forum. Clicky.
