We could, at massive cost - We're talking a lot of work here. This trust are heavy users of Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Yammer, Intune, Azure AD - We would need MigrationWiz licenses at £xx per user, a lot of planning and input from our team. Plus all machines would need to be rebuilt.

Good idea, but in our scenario, we have to crack on with moving staff over from traditional file shares to SharePoint - Our deadline is summer 23' so this rename ideally needs to be performed before we can start the major work in SP. I'm not overly concerned about the time it's going to take to perform the rename, in my previous experience I've seen it complete in under 5 minutes for a tenant with 40 users. I've done one of these renames before on a non-education client of ours, and it's gone quite smoothly (a few minor issues), but Microsoft's documentation doesn't account for education environments - and there are so many unknowns. If we did perform the rename over a school term and the rename did break previous assignments, and impair the creation of new assignments, because we can't revert the change, this could adversely impact the teacher's ability to school students working at home, and I'm not sure how we would overcome this, and I don't think MS support would be of much help. Bit of a tricky situation really - and I feel like we're alone on this one! (Quite concerning when Microsoft come back to support reqs and use language such as 'might' 'potentially')

Would really love to hear from anyone who has done this - I feel like I've done so much testing already (more than I'm willing to admit), and I'm still not overly confident (especially since you can't backtrack on the rename!) For the benefit of those who are yet to complete this, I've established the below impact list off the back of testing, and comms with Microsoft's SDS Support Team: Class Materials will break and need to be readded manually If teachers have created any tabs which link to document libraries in class teams, these will break following the rename, and need to be removed and re-added. Teachers and students will see an error message when they first access the ‘Files’ tab, however this will self-heal. Microsoft Forms which include ‘file upload’ boxes will need to be re-created If your SLT team or Teachers/Students use the OneDrive client on their computer, please note that this may not work for an extended period but will self-correct provided they are running the latest version of the software. Existing assignments in Class Teams will supposedly break, however future assignments will function as normal. (I'm really not sure about this one, I couldn't replicate this in my testing, but the Microsoft support team tells me so) Any PowerBI, or Power Automate flow that links to SharePoint would need to be recreated

I wondered if any of you have renamed your SharePoint URL per the guidance here: Change your SharePoint domain name - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn and have any real-world stories to tell following completion of this? We're concerned that renaming the SharePoint domain will break certain aspects of class teams. Look forward to hearing from you Thanks a lot

Happy New Year all! Has anyone here using RM CC4 had any luck packaging Sibelius 7.5 for deployment to windows 7 endpoints? I've tried packaging the x86 multi seat executable by importing the exe directly into RMMC and specifying the below command line /s /v"/qn SIBELIUSX86PGM="%programfiles%\Sibelius 7.5" LSINFO=SERVERIP /l*v %temp%\AvidSibeliusx86.log" In addition to doing the above, I have also tried importing an INI: [Package] Description=Sibelius 7.5.1 Quiet Installer Version=1.000.0.00 OS=5.WS,5.SR,6.WS,6.SR ExeFile=Sibeliusx86Setup.exe Addcommand= /s /v"/qn SIBELIUSX86PGM="%programfiles%\Sibelius 7.5" LSINFO=SERVERIP /l*v %temp%\AvidSibeliusx86.log" UninstallCommand= /uninstall /s On every occasion I try to send the package out to an endpoint, the status of the job simply sits as 'Not Started'. [TD="class: votecell"] [TD="class: postcell"] I've recently been making some changes to an AD OU structure, in attempt to make the structure look cleaner for other admins & allow us to get more granular with Group Policies. By changes I mean restructuring AD without moving users out of their existing computer / User OU's (Ie. all GPO's have remained in tact as before).. I would like to start moving users and more computers eventually but for the time being I've been making sensible small steps. So.. I seem to be facing a somewhat big issue with Roaming profiles / documents redirects. Users sit under the 'Staff' OU which has the below GPO's applied. http://i.stack.imgur.com/zuEni.png For everyone who sits under the above 'Staff' OU, they get their documents redirected to a network drive, that has always worked. Recently I created a new OU just outside of 'Staff' Called 'Special Staff' and linked all the existin Group policy objects which would have applied under 'Staff' to that OU. I moved a user from 'Staff' into 'Special Staff' and logged onto a machine.. When I logged onto the machine with the user in question I found that I could no longer see the document redirects working. I attempted a GPUPDATE /force and logged the user off and back on again. When I logged the user back on, I could still see that the documents redirection was not working so I tried a GPRESULT /H (Path).. Everything was applying however under 'Redirects' I could see the below: Folder Redirection did not complete policy processing because the user needs to log on again for the settings to be applied. Group Policy will attempt to apply the settings at the user's next logon. Additional information may have been logged. Review the Policy Events tab in the console or the application event log for events between 04/10/2015 21:41:35 and 04/10/2015 21:41:35. I've tried logging off and logging back on multiple times.. Still no luck. I am confused to say the least. Can anyone help me out? [h=2]FYI : Updates[/h] Update 22:45PM:'ve just checked Event Viewer on the affected machine and see the below entry: "Folder redirection policy application has been delayed until the next logon because the group policy logon optimization is in effect." Update 23:00PM: GPRESULT when executed on a machine for the user in question takes around 8 minutes to complete. Longest Process is: Getting the SID information Update 23:02PM: The end result of the GPRESULT indicates that the GPO's for the folder direction have been applied to the user. Update 23:07PM: If a GPUPDATE /FORCE is done on user accounts who still reside in the 'Staff' OU, the folder redirect continues to work fine. When a user is moved from the 'Staff' OU to the 'Special Staff' OU the folder redirection stops working. To ensure it's not a case of the GPO's playing up I have tried moving a user back into staff and doing a GPUPDATE /force however that does not resolve the issue. This suggests that from simply moving a user into a new user OU , the redirect is breaking. Update 23:10PM: For anyone who would like to know how different the GPO's are in the 'Special staff' OU in comparison to the 'Staff' OU.. They are exactly the same, the policies which reside in the working 'OU' are simply linked to 'Special staff' (There is an extra policy in 'Special Staff' for machine lockout) http://i.stack.imgur.com/CXkOu.png Research Outcome: I'm never able to see any errors reported with folder redirection.. GPRESULT: Which sits on GETTING THE SID INFORMATION for over 8 minutes ^^ That.. I have never seen before.. And this alone worries me somewhat.
