Hi Philellis, If the logon script can't/doesn't run as an administrator the file will still be generated, the only thing this would break is storing the resolution in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MachineData registry key. A way around that would be to set the machine GPO to create the key in Group Policy Preference, and after that in Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Registry create add the key and allow access to the Authenticated Users to write to this key so the current resolution can be stored there. You couldn't tell on Windows XP if it was activated with an illegal key... well until SP2 deactivated copies of Windows with known illegal keys. Why would you need to find that out with Windows 10 as the admin you would have been the one to install it so should very well know. If you buy a PC with Windows 7 sticker on and it doesn't have Windows 10 on it... guess what it's most likely licensed for. If it did have Windows 10, I would be dubious, unless you have some conformation from the company selling you the device.
