I find it offensive and funny at the same time. With it being made with biodegradable paint I find it more on the funny side as it’s a short term pic. If it was for a longer amount of time with none biodegradable paint it would be a lot more offensive.

Writing With Symbols + Makton fine from an end user point of view terrible for an IT Tech point of view. The version they sent us needs 4 floppy disks to start the install process. First you have to install version 2 of WWS CD with floppy disk then version 2 of Makton CD using another floppy disk with the install program on. After waiting ages for both CD’s and floppy disks to install you need to get WWS 2.6CD and the upgrade floppy disk and wait. Once that’s done get the Makton 2.6 CD plus floppy disk and wait. Good look if you have a none floppy disk laptop or PC.

At my old school I found a fully working sink with running hot water and mirror at the back of the room which was a little odd. The best find was the Acorn laptops.

It’s the fact there’s no choice over the matter that I resent. Very little has come out of the BBC in the past decade that I want to watch or tech I want to use. Still if I buy a DVD and profit go towards new future programmes and technology that fine. It’s the licence on top of paying full price I don’t like. If your paying a licence it makes more sense that DVD’s should be at cost not full price. There is no good reason to force us to pay a license. I would be happy if I had an option to buy DVD’s watch the BBC stuff I want and not have a licence or BBC channels I don’t use. “Fifty years ago it wasn't possible for you to watch the programme you wanted to watch when you wanted to watch it..” Being able to watch what I went when I want wasn’t something BBC introduced.

Do you expect DVDs to be given away for free?” If the DVD was sold for free or at cost then perhaps the BBC licence would be worth it for me. But the point is the DVD is full price. I am paying for the production of the programme with the full cost DVD then a 2nd time with the BBC licence even though I don’t watch BBC channels. I shouldn’t have to pay for a licence when I don’t watch BBC channels Effectively I am paying for the production costs twice.

Sure it might only be £10 but we all have lots of things that are only £10 and they all add up. I don’t drink, don’t smoke and I cook my own food as well so it’s not possible to cut back more. I don’t watch BBC or listen to BBC or use there website or anything else so why should I be forced to have a licence to pay for BBC? The only BBC stuff I watch are the old shows I bought on DVD. But as far as I am concerned I paid for those when I bought the DVD. Why should I have to pay twice?

“Are you sure that what you really want isn't to be a network manager. If what you are after is more say over budgets and policy then this can be done as an network manager or IT director.” It is really but in our school the ICT coordinator does all the budgets, policy and paper work side of network manager role. Perhaps a better option would be to see if they could give me an IT director role when she retires. I already do the tech side of a network manager. Saying that when there's no new PC's or projects due I spend half my time doing classroom support and teaching small groups in lessons which I enjoy. Not something I would want to do all day every day mind you. Thanks for all your advice, going talk to the deputy head next week and she about further training and job role change’s.

All I have is a Btech Nat diploma in IT computer studies. No school related teacher qualifications. More interested in the admin side of being an ICT coordinator then teaching. But I know from working with the kids that I could tech a small amount. Not interested in becoming a full time teacher. But assuming the school lets me, teaching IT part time and doing IT tech part time would be a nice mix. What’s the best path to becoming a Teacher while working full time?

My ICT coordinator is due to retire in 3 or 4 years time and thinking ahead and knowing how long some course’s take I decided its best to get qualified and aim for her job. But not got a clue where to start, most internet links are leading me to dead page’s and speaking to my coordinator she says, she was just in the right place at the right time. Anyone know any good resource’s on what an ICT coordinator does and how to become one? Anyone else moved from IT tech to ICT coordinator? How did it go from you? Due to our school being small I am hoping to do both jobs.

“Think figure of schools doing it is about 80%” I was surprised to read that I get the impression around here its more like 80 to 90% not using it. Does that 80% cover schools like us that have it installed but don’t use it? We skipped testing this year as its not suitable for us. But its left installed incase it improves.

We use the Kodak range. What evers cheapest at the time of buying a new one.

There are a few nice programs around if you know where to look. One make the mouse drunk the faster it goes the more it wobbles. My other favourite is the CD drive randomly ejects and you hear a burp sound from the computer then the CD drive shuts .

The hamster one is great. Very tempted to try that at work. Stick my PC under the desk and then put a fake PC case with window and a hamster back on the desk where my PC was. Wonder how many people comment or notice. Would be great at a LAN as well. If you get to much time on your hands get a small hidden motor to turn the wheel.

We just had a last minuet change of plan. This current batch of PC’s and the next batch this year all have Vista licences with XP installed. So it’s been decided 1 PC will run Vista as a test to see how children and teachers handle it along with software.

Perhaps it was for future expandability. Often its better to have more then you need ready for when you do need it, then have to upgrade later. That or one of the none tech staff thought it sounded good and asked for extra parts.

Both the Iphone and N95 are basically Dreamcasts in a phone. Some of the graphics features are ahead of top of the range £600 PC 3dcards. Saying that personally all I want in a phone is to make phone calls and text once in a while.

So you think they faked the video? Even if there is a conflict of interest the video and testing looked fair.

Isn’t the hardware between the iphone and N95 pretty similar just the software that’s different? Things like the 3dchip and CPU are along the same lines if not the same. Not 100% sure but that’s what I thought.

What’s the single player storyline like? Many FMV’s? tempted to give it go.

Not the best photo in the world but it always brings up conversations with the lady’s at work. At work I have a row of icons below and above the pic which is centred, not tiled or stretched. At home I normally have an Eve-Online screenshot without any icons. Might give Dreamscene another go. Decided it took up to many CPU’s resource’s before. When you run a program or game fullscreen does Dreamscene stop or unload?

“What is the worst management decision you have ever made / experienced?” We spent to much on ink. Well we bought what we normally need and printing usage went down. Instead of having enough ink to last until the summer holiday we now have enough to last until December at least.

I use mine to archive emails and to replace the pocket dairy I used to carry around but I feel like I am still under using it. How do you use a PDS to remote control school devices. Which software is best for that?
