Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
keyboards replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
I work a fair way away, so if I was local it almost wouldn't be an issue, but in theory, I'd be going a fair distance. I mean I can probably just easily work at home anyway and can't see it being a problem, was almost just curious what happens -

Does anyone know what the rules are if you get a local lockdown? Do you still go a work or is that a no-go, how does that work with your employer, obviously very hypothetical -
Really bizarrely in the last week or so, we've had a few users out of 100's who are unable to use Microsoft Remote Desktop Desktop playstore the app for Chromebooks, Ipad, Mac, Android and so forth, no matter what device we try them they won't work, these worked before we came back and on the same device every other user works but ie [email protected] won't work on device with the app or any network, it's just utterly bizzare, any one have any ideas, they work find on a Windows device in seconds, as soon as we try these users on a device using the app just no luck but on the same device loads of others users work, it's just utterly puzzling
-
Problem is we had these installed but you have to sign in per device per user and we're a google site
-
I'll have a look at the key scenario We use g suite not o365

Hi How are people running Visual Studio 2019 or 2017, as we're still on 2012 as they can just be used with a serial, when we tried 2017 and 2019 a while back both of them required per user per device login, so if pupils x went on 30 machines they'd need to sign in 30 times Thankls

Been back two days we are 100% just back to normal, no difference at all -
It didn't even get that far, we felt a bit targeted with the uniform as none of the other trust staff were going to wear it only the cleaners and us, which we felt was very wrong, Unison emailed our HR etc, just asking they involve them in any discussions, literally from that email onwards it was dropped, basically, our trust seem to get scared straight away. We had no real problem with a uniform but we did due to, we dress smart as it is and the dress is smarter than what we considered the uniform and we thought the uniform wasn't being applied correctly across all employees and thus unfair and not treating people as equal
-
Unison sorted our uniform disagreement in work with one email, they proposed a uniform for IT which I felt was unfair, one email to unison, unison emailed our HR within seconds that idea disappeared...

Does anyone know what the actual advice is on travel these days, as there is so many mixed messages, is it still trave outside peak periods? Or travel as normal or what? Because Tfl and Thameslink are both saying different things. -
I've had two weeks off out of six but haven't really had anything of as still been working, welll I've had too, apart from that was last off in October, pretty much need a proper week away somewhere just to switch off
-
The problem is, we've done so much this summer over so many schools and big projects, we're knackered now going into the business period, rather than being a bit more fresh ready for the madness fo the next few weeks.

I don't disagree with you, but it's a lot different when you're on the floor there, got junior staff, if you start saying no and questioning things, we all know sometimes mood can change towards you, jobs people give you, when it comes to performance review, pay grades etc, I totally off the record agree with you but in all jobs including ours, actuality is very different. -

I totally agree with what your doing localzuk, big issue is we did that I'm sure we'd get all sorts of comments and wouldn't be allowed to do it -

I totally agree with all that, it's just will they adhere to it and I can't see that flying at our trusts at others sadly. -

The bit I find hard though, is if we wear need to wear masks, then: A lot of us shouldn't be in, as there isn't that much space in our office say 3/5 share an office I think the government is still advocating to travel during quieter periods, so should we all be working 10-2 We shouldn't do any work at all until rooms are empty or even been cleaned Be ultra strict, no one knocks at the door Basically be ruthless as if we're still in such a state that we need to wear masks indoors, then IT should be ultra-strict too But we all know that isn't going to fly, if we start refusing to do thing instantly and so forth -

My glasses steam up when I wear one:D -
Even more bizarrely it's randomly working again today,, either LGFL have been naughty little tinkers or something very strange has happened
-
We've run some more tests tonight, and we're starting to think it might be our firewall provider LGFL doing something, as we have no outboard connection on 587 or 465 - - - Updated - - - Think just the way we set it up originally years ago and it's never gone wrong or caused so not really bothered, have you got a link to what your referencing and I'll have a look, thanks.
-
Hi Our scanning randomly stopped working yesterday at 3PM, we're using papercut via a Gmail account, any ideas, been working for years then just randomly stopped yesterday, when you scan, shows no errors but never arrives, in the sent items for the Gmail account it isn't showing anything, when you do the test in Papercut it times out
-
Yeah for me it's a massive issue, complete lack of progress for something that pretty much every single school that is using it would want, it's hardly ask for the moon on a stick too.

Nothing is ever straight forward with Capita, emailed them, then got told to email somewhere else, great, I'm guessing five weeks later might get an answer, it's literally the same company why can't they just pass me on internally.

Yeah, I haven't got health issues like you but totally echo your sentiments of what I don't really understand what is going to happen nor what should, as surely by the book, at max two people should be in the office and all help either done remotely or out of hours but as you said I can't see that flying. -
Yeah I can't stand this bit of it, also it's something I commonly forgot to, so then have to sit there and do it, frustrating as hell and 100% should've been fixed
