Good Morning All, I've got me a problem with my ClassroomBookings 1.07. It's running on an ubuntu server vm, which just recovered from a Hypervisor crash. But now, when I attempt to load the web interface, I get the following message: "An Error was encountered. Unable to connect to the database server using the provided settings". Now... I admit, I'm kinda rusty / ignorant when it comes to debian / linux administration.. so.. can some people point me in the right direction? I would wager a guess that it's probably a daemon not running, but how can I check? I do have SSH access to the box.

Hi @hcs-tom. Welcome. In response to your question..have you tried the Openelec Build for the RPI2? (OpenELEC Mediacenter - Get OpenELEC). I use it on a couple of Pi's.. a B, B+, and an RPI2. It boots directly into KODI (formerly XBMC), and it is quite useful. The trick is to have something else do the heavy lifting for you. I run a MySQL DB on one of my Pis in RaspBian, which hosts the DB for KODI. THe physical media files reside on an NFS share, and you just add the source. I get decent performance even on the original B. The trick to remember is to buy the codecs from RPI for mpeg2 and VC1 (http://www.raspberrypi.com/license-keys/). They may or may not be necessary for your video.. but for a grand total of 2.40, can you really complain? Other things to consider: - With network streaming, it is always best to use a wired ethernet connection, especially with HD Content. - Have a look at this guide: The Perfect XBMC Installation On Your Raspberry Pi - gaducated.com - Also, read this one for some good ideas: The Only Raspberry Pi XBMC (now Kodi) Tutorial You Will Ever Need - Finally, Look at the Kodi Wiki with regards to MySQL setup. Offloading the DB to another machine / device (be it another pi, or perhaps your NAS) will let your Pi do what it does best - Me personally, I don't use the CEC remote.. I just use the XBMC remote app on my phone and control it that way. Also makes browsing quick and easy.

Ok. So I lied. Found a bug. When viewing by Room, it will show the week.. great. But if there's a holiday in ANY DAY that week... it blocks out the whole week. That's fine for Spring Break and all.. but for days like Victoria Day (May 18 this year) or Easter Monday, it prevents the whole week from being booked. Tells me "The Date you selected is during a holiday period" along with the holiday description. Sooo... I'd like to keep the rooms view, but how can I see the remaining days of the week that aren't holidays?

Looks like i answered my own question via experimentation. I was able to edit the colours for timetabled lesson via the style.css file. Thanks for the help.. and I will be watching for v2! Cheers

Ok, good enough. Just means I need a superteacher I can trust Final Question: I want to change the colours slightly on the bookings page. I find the pink / whatever a bit harsh. In taking a quick look.. am I correct that the only place I have to edit is the style.css found in /webroot folder?

Webman, Next time one of us is in the other's neighbourhood, I owe you a beer. That worked for the logo bit. Now another couple of questions: 1) Is there a way for teachers to put in recurring bookings themselves? I can see as admin I can.. but I'd like the teachers to put in their own recurring ones as they need to. Doable? 2) When Looking at the Bookings Page.. can I show more than one day? Say.. could it show the schoolweek (scrolling down), starting with the current day? 3) Any way to allow for self-registration? Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!

I have a few schools I'm responsible for. Most of them have 5-10, being used in Primary (K-Grade 6) for extra-curricular clubs. One school, we have 35... we started an Evil Genius Club (for all grades, but definitely focused to Gr6-8). We were hoping for 10, and got 35. This year, it's just a club, getting them interested in coding etc. The teacher and I are going to develop a curriculum for a JH option for next year. Currently, all of the Pis are B+.. but for the curriculum next year we're going to use RPi2's, and have modules for Raspbian / Python, and using the Win 10 IoT Developer edition recently announced. Kids will get to program games, as well as learn basics for python, C+, and other wonderous stuffs. In order to conform with existing security principles, we had to create a separate subnet that was isolated from the school LAN for wired access (to allow for net connection when doing setup etc), that still went through our filter. Easiest way was to create a firewall (I used Untangle NG) and then put some switches in the classroom. Because we are low on space, our system was teardown. Also, this year, the kids own the Pis.. so they're working on their own machines. For the class option, the school will buy the Pi's, and we'll have the kids purchase their own SD cards (that will be the "textbook" for the class). Allows for multiple users for the Pis, with no worries as to what the previous user did. With the school-owned Pi's.. I'll probably get some VESA mounts for them and attach them directly to the monitors, for easier teardown (all they would have to do is power off). So far, so good. And it's not a huge investment on the school's side either.

I personally have 6 schools, 18 servers, and god knows how many devices I manage / look after, in conjunction with the rest of my team and the overall environment. I'm a IT Generalist by trade / experience, but I'm especially fond of the Raspberry Pi, having help start 2 Evil Genius clubs where we use the Pies to inspire their imagination.

Hello, I'm hoping WebMan or someone else can assist. I'm replacing a very old and poorly-functioning classroom / resource booking system with Webman's ClassroomBookings (from http://www.classroombookings.com). I've installed it on a Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS, with the LAMP defaults. I got it installed, and after some trial and error, got the initial page working. Now, when I try and do the school information, whether or not I add a logo or not.. when I hit save, I get a blank screen saying "Unable to create an image". I've played around with the security, and temporarily given 7777 access to the ClassroomBookings directory (recursively), but to no avail. Can anyone assist? I'm kinda stumped, don't know where to look.
