Yeah I use this all the time for my machines at home. It's a great way to apply updates quickly. What you will find is that you may have to run it, reboot and run it again. But it does obviously cut all the time of having to download them on each pc.

So far they have found over 500 machines with this malware installed on the hard drive controller, with 5 being resistant to re-formatting. That's fine @Griff haha. Yeah that's pretty much it, but as it has been said sometimes it is hit-and-miss with the popups. 90% of the time it's just a button to say install and you're done. Having to connect it to an unfiltered/proxied network during install is because the Meraki profile doesn't quite install right and also the activation ticket from Apple has issues too when imaging.

I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure if it's down to google for making themselves more secure, or the filtering companies for the methods they are placing to decrypt the packets. What worries me the most is how this traffic is all being logged due to the new 2014 Telecommunications Data Retention Act. Are the ISPs proactively upgrading their security to minimise the impact of any breaches? I hope so.

Hi, don't know if you've heard about this app (no results in search) but thought I'd post about it just in case it's of interest! MultiROM (Play Store link) can boot any Android ROM as well as other systems like Ubuntu Touch. It can also boot FirefoxOS. It installs the ROMs on the local storage and gives you a nice boot selection screen when the phone starts. It auto-boots into your default OS after a certain amount of seconds. You can also install a ROM to any external storage using OTG with memory sticks or memory card if the phone has a slot. It requires root access but is very easy to use. You just download a ROM in its .ZIP format and install it through the custom recovery that comes with MultiROM (a custom flavour of TWRP). Might be worth checking it out as I have been using it to test what apps / settings break on Android 5.0 on some tablets we use that run 4.4.4. I also run it on my Nexus 5 to try out custom ROMS like Cyanogenmod & AOKP nightlies to see if i'll like them or not. Give the Play Store description a good read as it only works on a select few devices.

The 'Offline Password Reset' tool built into the Hirens CD works with Win7 for sure.

What happens if you try to connect to the IP of the server in question, e.g. \\ip address\users ? Also, what happens if you ping the server from a machine on the VPN? If you can connect to the IP address of the server but pinging the name doesn't go through, it could be a DNS issue.

Might be worth taking a look at Spiceworks. It's completely free, takes about an hour to set up and apps are available on iOS and android if you wanted to check the queues away from your desk. I've been using SysAid at a school and it's just way too over-complicated for what they need. We should be trialling Spiceworks over the next week for them and go from there.

Sure thing, I'm using ObjectDock (non-free software) and icons from BlackVariant (free for personal use) with a custom VMware icon I made. I'll edit this post when I'm back at my PC with a link to the PNG files with transparency I made for the ObjectDock style. Edit: As requested, find the folder here. You'll need to put the folder in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDock Plus\Backgrounds\Zoomers" and then restart ObjectDock in order to be able to select it. I think I've set it to 85% opacity.

Can't vouch for SanDisk SSD's as I have't used one but every single one of my SanDisk USB Sticks have all died on me in the same way.
