Microsoft licensing - On prem + Cloud
ITGuyWestMidlands replied to abaxter2's topic in Licensing Questions
Anybody made any further progress with this on ovs. I'd like intune and azure premium 1. -
With BYOD using MSCHAPv2, how are you ensuring you staff are securing their devices against evil twin attacks?

I hate seeing schools throw money at new switches just expecting it to speed everything up. Day to day I feel it would be difficult to saturate a 2 x 1gb lag unless reimagining PC's etc.

I'm guessing PS Connect forward their email via some sort of relay which isn't listed in their SPF and so Yahoo is soft failing it (marking it as spam). If any one can post a message trace or email headers we can have a look more closely.

Potential Move from Meraki to Ubiquiti
ITGuyWestMidlands replied to mattysmith80's topic in Wireless Networks
You shouldn't really look at going any more than 4 for performance reasons -
Have you tested to see if changing your IP to one on your production network gives you the ability to reach your servers or clients?

Active Directory Account Creation & Disable script based on SIMS data.
ITGuyWestMidlands replied to FN-GM's topic in Scripts
You may be able to use the person Id field for both staff and students. You will need to be a member of the Third Part Reporting role to access this though. -
Veeam here. But their push for multi-year licences has got me thinking they are going to be pushing up prices soon. Great software though.

How does it deal with RDS (multiple sessions)? -
Do you have any shortcuts in those folders that link to files or folders that no longer exist or that they cannot access

On prem exchange mailbox recovery through DPM
ITGuyWestMidlands replied to dapaulio's topic in How do you do....it?
Nice one. I'd look at switching to Veeam, or consider a transport rule to copy all student emails to special mailbox to access when needed. DPM not supporting single item recovery is insane. -

I think he is referring to it also being a transparent web filter -
SIMS - Setting Up Specific Automated Emails
ITGuyWestMidlands replied to Rhodge227's topic in Educational Software
This is possible, but not within SIMs. You would need a program to run a report, parse it, analyse the data based on your requirements and send out an email. All quite easily done if you can code?- 2 replies

Has the IP address of the DHCP server changed? -
Agreed.

I think I may have missed the bit where it says the password is stored in plain text. The LSA password filter is a good way of syncing passwords to other systems, but yes of course if the password is stored unencrypted in the external data source then it is an issue (although not unheard of). If the password is encrypted before it is transmitted to the new data source, it's fine.

In all fairness, it's exactly what Google s Password sync tool does, yet it's used by many with no issue or (little) security concerns.

Don't put it on a DC as the DC cannot be demoted in the future whilst ADCS is installed
