GPUs alone would cost you £36.75 per month just in terms of electricity. If its before, you MIGHT just break even. Still that's pretty good for IT equipment. Not exactly a good investment idea. Just a way to poss fund your next gaming machine upgrade

Contact them, your school is paying them for support etc, they should be able to give you better support then my - log on to the server, open up SOLUS3 UI and add the machine to the FMS workstation list thingy UAC should always be enabled.

It can (and much more) - and SIMS can store multiple emails per person - you define them as home \ work \ other. So you just want to import them all into SIMS as work emails. If only someone created a free tool for bulk importing into SIMS...

It depends. For starters if your using the free SQL Express your SQL instance is limited to 1GB and 1 core. Beyond that it comes down to number of SIMS users - named (ie has an account), active (ie no of active uses at anyone time), what modules\add-ons you have - like Lesson monitor, InTouch, Groupcall, Go4Schools etc. And not forgetting how you use SIMS (and the velocity of data entry as well as the size) - you can get a feel for this by looking at your sims.mdf vs . Really if your VM SIMS you already have a VM platform, you shouldn't build one just for SIMS and the platform should have room to scale it up or down beyond a default of say - 4cores\8gb. The key with SQL which 90% of people forget is it's all about disc IO - use SSD.

Was thinking the same thing - it'll be audit logging on sensitive data. But what is sensitive data?! Serious question, medical would be obvious, but in an emergency, I'd rather more people knew I couldn't have penicillin for example I don't know. Doesn't auditing act as a layer of security? Wouldn't it make you think twice if you knew you would be caught, its just a matter of time. (I mean in general terms, not personally)

I wouldn't want to collect that information. I think it would be better to just make some tablets\desktops\laptops available for them to complete the forms online on. Make sure you offer it regularly as you don't want parents missing out because they couldn't remember their NI number.

It's a stupid process. The government provides an web service to check your (the parent) FSM eligibility. If your child gets free school meals by default, why bother? For some gift card thing that you can only spend in a overpriced school clothing shop? Still cheaper to buy school clothes from the supermarkets. So no parent bothers, so the school get no extra funding - I joked (in a serious way) about schools giving out £50 amazon gift cards to parents who bother. The ideal solution is the government just tells the school and gives them the money. They already have the data. They already know. What's wrong with School System ID (with MAT \ LA) + PupilSystemNo? Then it limits it to that group rather then the whole of the UK. Unless folks have pretty lax data sharing agreements??

Best password is the one you don't know. Use a password manager like LastPass then paste the password, helps stop password reuse as well... just don't forget the master password to the password manager

Yup. If they had send out a link to OneDrive \ Google Drive \ dropbox you could have at least deleted\revoked permissions the spreadsheet. Also you'd a have valid audit log of who \ how many people have accessed it - still all this would have done is reduce the ICO fine.

Rather then abusing the attendance mark, wouldn't it be better to keep them separate but linked. So that the behavior mark updated the attendance mark to present if its empty and if the attendance mark is absent the behavior is set as not present. Otherwise its like having free text in the fax field.
