Hi tuns8 Closing date is 30th June. PM me if you have any questions.

Hi all, we have recently brought our staff email in-house (previously hosted by the LEA) using Exchange 2007 and Symantec Mail security for Exchange. I know it's a bit cheeky, but does anyone have a decent whitelist available for me to nick? We have had to tighten our SPAM filters so much that legit mail is also often affected. The head is not happy and wants it sorted pronto. Building up our own whitelist is obviously going to happen but I wouldn't mind a bit of a head start! Any help gratefully received! All the best, Stu

Hi all, Junior ICT tech role (term time only) at my school available from September: East Barnet School Needed to assist in the support of a brand new 1500 user/900 client vanilla MS network in a purpose built new building. Server 2008 R2/W7 across the board. VMWare ESX/Exchange 2010/Ghost suite 2.5 and many other enterprise level toys to get your hands on! Post or PM me if you have any questions. Cheers, Stuart ICT Systems Manager, East Barnet School

Tool to bulk create users / create single user easily?
Stuarte replied to reggiep's topic in Windows Server 2008
Hi, Anyone know if Active User Manager works OK with W2k8 R2? Cheers! -
Hi CAM, Why not apply anyway? You don't need to make a decision until you are offered the post. Chances are you'll already know what you want to do by then. Good luck whichever way you go. Cheers!

Hi Round2it, Don't know whether you've sorted this yet, but if not, hopefully this will help Error message when you try to open an ActiveX control-based MIME handler in Windows Internet Explorer 7: "Invalid character" Worked for us here when we had the same problem. Cheers!

Same here, we've got a few. Good fast and reliable. Would recommend.

Hi, You can disable all USB storage devices by pushing out a registry merge in you workstation custom settings in the RM Console. The value that you need to change is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor In the details pane, double-click Start. In the Value data box, type 4, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and you are done. We have a temporary ban on USB storage here for the same reasons! Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, cameras don't last too long here! Cheaper the better. Cheers.

Hi, My school is looking to refresh its's camera fleet(!!). Does anyone know of anything under £30? Doesn't need to have any bells and whistles. In fact, the more basic the better. Have only managed to find the and Alba job for about 17 quid but reviews are terrible. Any help gratefully received. Cheers, Stu

Buzzard -apologies. Just read your post again and realised that my second post is not relevant. Have you got any further? Still think that it would be better if you could resolve the FQDN internally though. Removes many possible points of failure. When you say the domain name is wrong, what do you mean exactly?
-
It doesn't resolve from the run line because its pointing towards ns1.nic.uk and netbios traffic is not (normally) routable. Don't know what might have happened for the problem to pop up now but you need to make sure that you are resolving DNS/netbios traffic locally. Not sure what you need to do to make this happen yet but I'm thinking..... Cheers
-
Buzzard, Sounds like it could be a netbios name resolution issue. To start with, try adding an lmhosts entry for the domain on a client and test from the run line again. good luck.

Nothing to do with me, but stumbled across this: Senior ICT Tec Dame Alice Owens School Hertfordshire. £23-25k (I think) Dame Alice Owen's School ::: General Information ::: Vacancies *
-
Ah, yes. Didn't see that. Good luck anyway Ian

Saw this advertised today but nothing to do with me! City of London School for Girls Vacancy details

just as an additional note: if you use HP hardware (relatively new) it is not possible to get them to build from CC3 build disk on USB (no matter what you do, even HP utility). But netacs work absolutely perfectly (CC3 or otherwise). It's worth buying a couple. Trust me, I spent far too much of my life trying to get standard USBs to boot with new HPs!!! expect someone will now prove me wrong...... Cheers!
-
Thanks Simon. I have sent details to your work email. Cheers, Stu
-
Hi Guys, Does anyone know a good supplier for HP Hardware in mainland UK? I usually use EBM who I can highly recommend but need a second quote (not misco). Cheers, Stu
-
Hi Nick, Afraid not. I used WDS to image them in the end. That works perfectly. Sorry I can't be more help.

I was just trying to ask a question. I am not a pro Microsoft anti Linux head. I just don't yet know much about it yet and was genuinely asking for advice to fill a gap in my knowledge. Thanks to those that have replied constructively.
