Yepp I think they do a free trail, well they did when i was trailing it last year
-
Yes it does, we have it tied in to VPP (Looking to move this over to ASM at some point) and it can deploy apps without the iPad being signed in to an apple id.

Jamf is the best MDM no doubt about it, but the price is a lot compared to it's competitors. Ours was looking at £3k+ (You have to pay for training etc.), where as Mosyle is costing us around £180 a year. 10 Macs and around 40 iPads

Schools Broadband In-line Filter down?

We're having issues with the RADIUS accounting this morning..... -
That's because they come with windows 10 S, you can move them over to Windows 10 Home and then to pro etc.. (Only the once, you can't go back to S). Then you can install any version of office* *. Within reason

iOS 13 and HTTPS Inspection
DalekSec replied to Jollity's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We didn't have an issue with our MITM Cert in iOS 13, as our provider, Netsweeper changed the Cert thankfully. But now we have an issue with iOS 13.1! Their fix? Don't update..... have a good few students update to 13.1 and we're unable to put them on the WeeFee -
For those who know the Current (now old) update you know how much of a PITA it was, only updated to the version you downloaded not the most up to date. Thankfully Microsoft have got their act together!: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Surface-IT-Pro-Blog/Modernized-updating-for-your-Surface-Dock/ba-p/867432

I have the Teams calendar in my Outlook in windows but not the iOS app.
-
Ahola, I can't seem to find out how to see our Teams team (Teams teams teams teams) calendar via either the Outlook app or even the Teams app. Viewing it outlook i can search for it and find it as a shared calendar but i get the error: 'Can't add calendar, you can't open groups calendars at this time'. Quick google shows that it's not possible to put a teams calendar in the Outlook app (was an old forum post but couldnt find an updated one!) So i thought hey no sweat i'll have it in the Teams app, i can't even find the option to add another calendar or even view it under the Team! Anyone managed to do this? Thought it might be something simple.

Agreed, but the price is off putting for the majority of schools, even more so with those who only have a handful of macs. We have 10 and the price was in the £1000s, where as Mosyle is around 150 a year (Including our iPads)

Same as mavhc also, HDMi to projector, projectors audio out to speakers.

Cheapest way, spare Mac and install Mac Server on it, it is not free (can't remember price but it's under £100). You can run macOS from a VM but it's a legal gray spot and requires tinkering. I used it for all of 10mins and realised it didn't do what i wanted it to do and moved to a MDM. Best way, invest in an MDM, you won't regret it. If you have money = JAMF, if you don't we use Mosyle its £5 per device per years which is cheap imo. Depending on the Macs you can run a cmd that your are able to DEP them and hence more restrictions on them. You can AD join Macs using directory utility (comes installed on the macs). Join it to AD and you can sign in like normal with the AD users. Very vague answer but if you have any questions feel free to PM me as i setup our mac suite here from scratch

I understand why you would want to fix it yourself, but don't let that get in the way of fixing issues. Call in get them to fix it and get them to show you how they did it. Much quicker than spending a couple of hours trying to figure it out! Also we moved to Netsweeper recently and keep having loads of annoying issues, their support have been good tbf but do take longer to get back than are old provider, but then again it is the start of term!

Now it's really only Linus Tech Tips : https://www.youtube.com/user/LinusTechTips LGR (Lazy Game Reviews, reviews old tech mainly) : https://www.youtube.com/user/phreakindee Binging With Babish : https://www.youtube.com/user/bgfilms The later is a chef who cooks food recipes from TV, Films and Games! Recently did a video that involved Autodesk creating a robot to make. -
Surface laptop is known as one of the best Windows laptops on the market at the moment, size, weight and speed etc. But the Book has a dedicated GPU and can turn into a tablet. If you need GPU horsepower = Book. Otherwise Laptop. Simples

Instead of splashing out on a USB-C & a Lightning bolt to 3.5mm adaptors. You can buy a Bluetooth adaptor to stick on the sound system. I use this at home and works a treat
-
Logic X & Garage you can deploy easily, as it's on the App Store. The additional sound files i'm not sure how to do remotely i did 1 manually so it got caught in the Caching server and did the rest in one go. Sibelius we installed manually, but like i said before we only have 10 machines of which only 5 need Sibelius. You can always setup Deploy Studio to do the deploying, Mosyle can deploy custom apps/ Non-App Store apps but you have to have some where of hosting them where it can access.
