  1. I am using GPMC
  2. Thanks for the reply Michael. I have checked all scripts startup/logon and I dont have anything like that. I am using server 2003 R2. Configuring restricted users to assign local admin rights to users in server 2003 wouldn't deleted acounts would it?
  3. When you remotely install Sophos using the EC it creates a local user account on the machine. My problem is that when my machines restart this user is deleted so Sophos does not update. I have recreated the account on the machine and added in the following reg entries: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Service] "UserPreset"=0x00000001 This is a dword value [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Service] "ObfuscatedPassword"=0x00000000 This is a string value [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Service] "Download User"=SophosSAUmachinename This is a string value [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Service] "Download Password"=PASSWORD I have ran procmon to capture events but as this user is deleted on startup I am not getting anything. As far as I am aware no GPOs have been added or updated recently. I have ran a gpupdate when logged onto the machine but the account is still there until it is restarted. I have to redeploy to all machines everyday to make sure they are updated. I have deployed to a machine that is not on the domain and the user account remains! Does anyone have any ideas which GPO will affect this? Cheers
  4. We are trying to cut down on paper and printing bills. We have updated our AUP again and need everyone to sign it. All pupils and staff have a school e-mail account. Nearly all parents have a school e-mail account. Do you think it would be feasible to send the AUP out via e-mail and receive replies saying if they agree etc. Then just keep the replies in a folder inside the account used to send them out? The AUP contains tick boxes for agreeing to comply, agreeing to their child having an e-mail account and agreeing that we can use their childs photo on the website etc. So I would just have to explain that the reply needs to agree/disagree with the points. Would this be enough? Rob
  5. I think I will just knock the laptop down to 32bit win7
  6. If you are running on Win 7 64 bit and it is working can you confirm you can do the following: Reports > Print Timetables > Student Timetables > Pick any pupil get right to the end and print (that is when we get the error) Rob
  7. Has anyone got SIMS installed on a Windows 7 64bit machine fully working? The problem one of my users is getting is when he tries to print pupils timetables. Errors are attached. I have tried changing the exe files to run in compatability mode. Do you think it would be worth re-installing it? Rob
  8. A report is ran and an xml file is generated with the pupils full/half term report. This then attaches it to a pupil. You pick a student, click on linked documents double click on the full report the attachment is for example Year 11 Full report 2011 (PS).xml. You get 2 options 'View' and 'Open'. View is clickable but Open is greyed out. If you click view it does open in Word but only as read only. So is any changes are made it has to be saved and uploaded again. If the Open button was functional it could open and save directly without having to re-upload. Can you confirm that you can use the open button on xml files? Rob
  9. When using live @ edu / outlook live you can only connect to SMTP port 587 using TLS encryption. The parenteve software assumes you are using port 25 which cannot be changed. There would have to be a device in the middle to do the TLS part like a linux box. Configuring it as a mail server to receive plain SMTP mail and forward it to the outlook live server using TLS. This would be an extremely messy way round it.
  10. Thanks for the quick reply. I have gone into the SEC and altered the Anti-virus/HIPS policy to exclude remote files. I'll let you know how it goes.
  11. This is a strange one for you guys! We have mandatory profiles for our pupils and have done for a long time without any problems. Recently I have been getting complaints about machines taking 10mins or so to log off. That has been since we returned from the holidays. Nothing has been changed as I was off for the 2 weeks. I have checked the usual places event logs on machine servers but there is nothing. I have checked permissions with no luck. I have UHPS installed but that makes no difference. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Rob
  12. Hi Guys, We redirect all users start menus to \\server\Start Menu. If a program is only installed on lets say 30 machines is there a way that the shortcut for that program only appears on the machines that it is installed on. So machines it is not installed on it doesn't show as a missing link? Rob
  13. Hi mate, Thanks for you input. I had made the mistake of thinking they would be sync'd on the first run. I get lots of these nice messages in the event logs! The password notification has been delivered to all targets. Tracking ID: 4b991501-a5b0-4da8-934f-4c6d70160e95 User GUID: 52b0e40c-9098-48d6-8395-76fe90acc18f User: Domain\Username Targets: PCNSCLNT Rob
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. I will give it a try tomorrow. Just hope that when it opens it says open. I will report back.
  15. Hi Guys, I have a simple script to open a webpage when users logon. This is it: Option Explicit Dim wshShell Set wshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") wshShell.Run ("http://www.website.com") The trouble is it opens but when the icons appear on the desktop it closes. So my question is how do I stop it closing? Thanks Rob
  16. Hi guys, We will be using Live @ Edu and outlook live for e-mail from September. I have a server with 2k3 Enterprise, SQL 2008, ILM 2007 and GALSync installed. I have set everything up as per the instructions and have managed to get all my users from my on-site AD to outlook live. The problem is none of my users can logon using their usual password. I have made sure all passwords are 6 characters long and done the sync password instructions. Any help on this would be greatly recieved. Many thanks, Rob
  17. Turns out our ISP had put a manual block on our IP using their Smart Host. Not sure what the reason is for doing that. Hopefully I should be back up and running today. Rob
  18. HELO please-read-policy.mxtoolbox.com 250 **server-name**.internal Hello [64.20.227.133] [156 ms] MAIL FROM: 250 2.1.0 [email protected] OK [140 ms] RCPT TO: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for [email protected] [140 ms] QUIT 221 2.0.0 **server-name**.internal Service closing transmission channel [140 ms] That is the result of a relay test from mxtoolbox.com We are routed through our ISPs Smart Host. ISP are looking into it but I don't think any IP adresses have changed otherwise we would be able to receieve inbound mail. It happened around 8pm last night, nothing changed on my server so something external is to blame here i'm thinking!
  19. I have tried a few recipients: *@hotmail.com *@ntlworld.com *@lea.sch.uk All have come back with the same reply. I have done this using several user accounts :-(
  20. We have sudenly lost the ability to send external e-mails! Eveything has been fine for months and nothing has changed on the exchange server. Then last night e-mails I was sending were getting returned with the following message: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Sent: 31/03/2010 9:14 AM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: **name**@domain.com on 31/03/2010 9:14 AM There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <**server-address**.internal #5.5.0 smtp;550-Your server is a current source of Unsolicited Bulk Email abuse. Please> The above was just a test but it happens with any external address and any user. I have used a website called MX Lookup Tool - Check your DNS MX Records online - MxToolbox to check if we are on a blacklist but we are not on any of them. I have logged a call with our ISP about this but if you guys have any suggestions I would be greatful.
  21. Hi, I have checked and I do have the entries in the exception field but still getting timed out when trying to access OWA and RM KLP. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rob
  22. How do you guys get around using SSL site using this version of FF. I cannot access my OWA or Portal, just getting a timed out message for each. Rob
