Its Rm's Smartcache "safetynet" which is allowing downloads from the site. Its group policy thats blocking the download. We have a ban on all downloads from websites unless they have been added (in group policy) to trusted sites. I have added sparklebox but the website shows that its in "unknown zone-mixed" which is why i cannot download from it.

I have added SparkleBox - 1000s FREE printable Early Years and KS1 teaching resources - phonics, posters, labels, signs, activities and more! as a trusted site and allowed files to be downloaded from trusted sites via group policy. This is fine on other websites but sparklbox for some reason shows up as "Unkown zone mixed" which then spits out the error message "your current security setting does not allow this file to be downloaded" Any suggestions how i can download files from this site?

I didnt receive my email from them (i donated) wonder if they are staggering the emails?

I agree that the exercise is utterly pointless but i suppose ideas like what my Bursar had is what happens when many "great minds" get together at bursars's conferences and dream up wonderful schemes such as cleaning keyboards!!

I have been asked by the bursar for a way that will ensure that all keyboards, mice and computer desks are wiped down to prevent the spread of bird flu in the event of an outbreak at our school. I think this proposal is entirely un-workable as it would require the equipment to be wiped down after every class but i was wondering if any other schools out there have been asked to do something similar or better still if you have something currently in place.

We are running redirected " my docs" and there is an option there to give the user exclusive rights to the folder on creation. Are redirected folders an option?

I would like to have a script that would change the ownership of a file based on the name of the file. For example i have a folder containing users document folders named bursary, jbloggs, apupil and would like to run a script that would change the owner to the name of file i.e jbloggs and also add the user and administrator with full permissions. Does anyone have a script that can do this?

Is anyone using sims and software restriction policy with levels set to disallowed? Once a teacher logs on and clicks on the sims icon it naturally goes off looking to see if the server has been updated. I had to create 3 path rules in software restriction policies pointing to the server for SIMSAmparkSetup.exe, SIMSApplicationSetup.exe and SIMSManulaSetup.exe the upgrade seems to take place and ends up at the logon dialogue box but no upgrade has taken place. What else needs to be "allowed" in software restrictions to allow the end user to upgrade?

I have installed microsoft deployment toolkit on the windows 2008 server and have configured the distribution share,task sequence and deployment point succesfully. After creating the deployment point i moved the .wim file into my WDS server and booted? via pxe. When i select the image i am now getting Windows failed to start File : INTELIDE.SYS Status 0x0000098 INFO : windows failed to load because a required file is missing or corrupt. Anyone out there had this problem before through MDT?

I am looking to run add a registry entry when a user first logs onto a workstation via group policy by having a startup script (.bat) run a .reg file. The batch file is "regedit /s outlook.reg" which runs but still requires user intervention to actually install the reg change although i am using the /s silent switch. The strange thing is is that if i go into the user gpo>user configuration>administrative templates>system and enable "prevent access to registry editing tools" and the user then logs on, the user gets the error message stating that they are unable to edit the registry due to restrictions (which is what i would expect) they can then click ok and it enters the reg key anyway! I would either like the regedit /s key to do its stuff I.E not prompt the user to add the key or remove the dialogue box stating that registry editing tools has been disabled by your administrator. Any suggestions?

I am using access based enumeration to block access to department folders to which the shortcuts within them are not installed and the pc's are not within that department. I would like to use access based enumeration via groups containing user accounts rather than users, for example. ict1 is used by ict, maths and classics therefore the start menu folders for maths, ict and classics has its permissions changed so only those groups can see it. Then all the pcs in ICT1 are added into the 3 groups and the other start menu folders are hidden from view. This doesnt take effect but i can get it to work if i put user groups in the permissions listfor the folder rather than groups containing workstations. Has anyone tried this approach?

Have you encountered any problems with mandatory profiles being setup and using outlook/exchange? I have had to create a login script that automatically configures outlook so the user doesnt have to but unfortunatly the user gets the "welcome to outlook 2003" whenever they logon.

How have you set up your profiles for students and teachers? roaming/mandatory? Do you allow the use of outlook for students emails or just OWA?

Currnetly planning on building a new network to co-exist with our RM CC3 one with a view to phasing out Rm over the next couple of years. Implemeting the new VLE Trying to get teachers to use the help desk system!! (ongoing)

I am looking to move away from our current CC3 network and am building a vanilla setup at the so that i can migrate users from the Rm network onto the new one, phasing out the old network in the process. I currently have mandatory roaming profiles set up with redirected start menus where i have added the folders relating to each application/department. I would like to know how i can hide folders that hold dead shortcuts (as the app is'nt installed on that particular pc) Similar to the way that rm does. Does anyone out there know how i can achieve this?

I am looking to apply a software restriction policy through a gpo and link it to all the workstations on the domain. I have done this and applied it and a test workstation is picking up the gpo......except for a couple of settings i have chosen such as: enforcement properties- apply software restrictions to all users except local admins Security level is set to disallowed - software will not run. These settings are not applied, when i run rsop.msc on the target machine i see the path rules i have set up being applied but not these two settings. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
