Vegas- Is this the Subinacl script you had: for /d %%i in (*) do subinacl /errorlog=subinacl.err /subdirectories %%i\*.* /setowner=%%i I tried this one above but it only changed the files beneath ownership it errored on the folders. Saundersmatt - the students have permission already it's the ownership i need to change which you can't do in bulk in windows

I need to change the ownership of all students (approx 1000) home folders to their respective owner to enable disk quotas, as I don't have the R2 version of Windows 2003 installed. Does anyone know how to do this in bulk, by a script or however? Thanks, Jenny

We currently use PMP6, however not very well and I'm currently investigating what more we can get out of it to help reduce our print costs. I've read on other threads how people are restricting what students/staff print. I downloaded one of the PMP agents, the workstation connected printer agent on demo license to look at, as we have a lot of local printers. Now Software shelf are on my back to upgrade to V7 as our maintenance has expired. Does anyone know if there are any advantages of upgrading? They gave me a quote of £360 but I don't want to be it if everything I want to do is in V6. Thanks

Hi, We've recently purchased 30 Dell Vostro 1000's for students. I'm having a problem booting them into Symantec Ghost. I've created a boot USB flash drive with the network boot drivers. It installs the DOS NDIS2 driver ok, installs the mouse driver but gets stuck on Loading...... It does the same when I try to PXE boot it too. Not had this problem with any other machine. Anyone had this before? Thanks Jenny

Eventually swapped this unit for an autonomous unit.. and at last have got into the web interface!! I've set it up through the express setup and enabled the radio, but 1 laptop can see it but cannot connect and 2 laptops can't see the SSID. I've set up 128bit WEP encryption but even if I turn encryption off I still get the same client results. I have gone through the menus and also setup the DNS. Have I missed anything from anyone's knowledge? Thanks

Some development... it's something specific to Internet Explorer because it works in Firefox, however they have to log in again with Firefox, it's not seamless.

Having an intermittant problem with OWA where students receive the following error when trying to save any attachment from their emails in OWA: "Internet explorer cannot download attachment.ashx from Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try later" I had read somewhere it was to do with the setting in Internet Explorer "Do not save encrypted web pages" which can be set to disabled in GPO, but I've still had intermittant problems with this still. Anyone had this trouble? Thanks Jenny

I think you are right. I've just found an article, link below which says the Aironet 1200 with software release 12.3(7)JX will only work in conjunction with a Cisco wireless network controller. Our unit has this software release, how annoying! Anyone know if and how we can get this back to autonomous mode safely? Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(7)JX [Cisco Aironet 1200 Series] - Cisco Systems

I think you might be right, from what you've all told me it should be easy. This is the 2nd one we've had and it's doing the same thing, so perhaps it's a faulty batch. I've gone back to my supplier again to get it changed again! Thanks for all your help, Jenny

Hi, no we cant telnet to it. We've tried resetting it many times, it still doesn't work . We've tried crossover cable too, the only thing we can do with all methods is Ping it.
-
The IPSU just returns with "the device does not answer" even though we know what the IP address is and can ping it, and not ping it when the device is unplugged. We've tried hooking this up to our main network and an isolated test network with DHCP. All results come back the same. It seems like something's wrong with it but this is the 2nd unit we've tried, I sent the first one back because of the same problems!
-
No still not getting to it via web page I've added it to every exception I can find on firefox and IE and added it to a list of addresses to bypass on our proxy. Just says failed to connect. I wish I could say it was easy to set up!
-
Thanks Dezt, that sounds promising we'll give it a go!

Thanks for replying Grumbledook, from what I've read the earlier versions of these had an IP address set to 10.0.0.1, but the latest ones have to get an initial IP address from DHCP. I have searched through numerous pages of the Cisco site, that was my first port of call but couldn't find a solution to get this working... in fact it says on there just put the IP address in to the web browser! Thanks, J

Does anyone know how to get one of these up and running as a stand alone AP? I have a brand new one, but really struggling to get it running on our network. It's like no other AP I've ever set up. It's flashing traffic light colours, I believe this means it's look for a WLAN controller. Do I need a controller to set it up? It has an IP address from DHCP, I know this because it's listed in the leases. I can ping it but can't access the web configuration page through IE. Have tried using a console cable with it but only got as far as changing the IP address. I have searched the Internet but cannot find a straight forward solution (if there is one). Desperate for some help now!! Many thanks. Jenny

Installing Gamemaker and Flowol on TS
jdibsdale replied to jdibsdale's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Thanks for your reply, I have flowol 2 that I've been trying to get working, but I think I may have to bite the bullet and purchase flowol 3! -
Hi Guys, Having a few problems getting Gamemaker and Flowol working properly on my 32bit terminal server, for my thin client. I initially tried installing them on my 64bit servers, but they wouldn't install at all. Managed to get them to install on Windows 2003, 32bit server but Gamemaker won't launch and errors with "Drive C: must be a hard drive for Softwrap to correctly register". Flowol says "unable to load configuration", then error from Flowol "cannot open bitmap" although Flowol which actually run after the errors. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get these working, it would be much appreciated! Thanks, Jenny

Hi Has anyone got any eee 4G Pc's and managed to use Symantec ghost to image them? We've got some, and I've installed Windows on one and would like to image the rest. I've been trying to make a network boot USB stick for them. I've got the NDIS2 driver but I can't get them to boot into ghost with network support. It doesn't even attempt to do it, it just boots to command prompt. Any ideas? Thanks Jenny:confused:

Please ignore now! I've solved it .... a magic reboot of the Mail server did.. last resort but worked. Have absolutely no idea what was wrong but I can relax until it happens again! Thanks Jenny

I've now managed to resolve the name by replacing the mail server name for one of the DC's, but it still says my exchange server is unavailable

Hi Everyone, I have built a new Exchange 2007 server and it's all working and sending and receiving fine. Have connected a few people, including myself through Outlook 2007 and 2003 fine. However, I've discovered a few people so far using Outlook 2003 that it can't resolve their mailbox name because of this error: Outlook could not log on. Check to make sure you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and maibox name. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. The computer(s) can ping the email server no problem and can open Outlook Web Access on their machine and get their email, but just not through Outlook 2003. Am busy googling at the moment but not yet found a working solution. Has anyone come across this before or got any suggestions? Thanks Jenny

That's brill... it's working now! Thanks for the help.

Thanks for replying everyone.. I ended up setting up the certificate server and issuing a certificate which has worked! yay. There's only one last thing, I've deployed the certificate via group policy which has placed the certificate in the clients Trusted root certificates in IE. However, it still doesn't work without installing it. Firefox picks it up and prompts you straight away, you click yes and it works.. IE7 doesn't do this and you have to locate the error on the toolbar, and browse and install. Anyone know how to automate this? Thanks Jenny

Hi I've seen some threads touching this subject but i need some clarification. I've installed Exchange 2007 and all I want is for my OWA users to get to OWA without having the cerficate error page come up. We're not allowed external access so we're not using Outlook Anywhere. So can i just create a self certificate using selfssl.exe and is there a way to install this via group policy to the clients? I just want the easiest method to get around this! Thanks Jenny
