  1. This is something my organisation is currently investigating. How many users do have in Moodle? What's your server spec? Do you run any external reports from your Moodle? (SQL reporting).Sorry for the random bombardment of questions..
  2. I have just implemented OSTicket with AD intergration. osTicket :: Support Ticket System | osTicket (Just google OS Ticket LDAP plugin and you can download this from GitHib). Works really well - we have over 6,000 users. The only downside is that admin/tech staff cannot login with AD - but 'customers' can!
  3. Hey EduGeek'ers! As part of my role at work I am reviewing our current VLE hosting strategy. One route that I am currently investigating is hosting our VLE on the Microsoft Azure Platform - possible using with their Cloud Sites or as a Virtual Machine. What I really want to know is have any EduGeek members had any experience with the deployment of large sites, such as Moodle VLE's onto the Azure Platform? Additionally has anyone ever come over any Azure educational pricing (from what I have researched they only offer an educational package for Staff & Students where students are hosting their own projects - not on an faculty/facility level).
  4. Could you setup the laptops to be connected to the Domain, then enable offline folders - so the teacher uses the laptop as a network machine throughout the day, with their home directory synced onto the HDD. Teacher goes home, does what they need to do. Next day when back in school the machine syncs all the files back to the domain. This means your not installing anymore software - Configuring New Offline Files Features for Windows 7 Computers Step-by-Step Guide
  5. Tis' strange that you cannot access as a local admin, have you also tried booting in Safemode or even trying to boot to the USB from the BIOS (this will show if it's actually been blocked through the BIOS - difficult but possible)
  6. Hey Edu'geekers, I am fairly new around the forums, and I do apologise if this post is off-topic. I am selling my 'retro' Gameboy Color and Gameboy Pocket. They are both on eBay with no reserve and a reasonable BIN. I assume there are a few gamers on Edugeek (from exploring the forums) so I thought I would share the links; Gameboy Pocket - Silver Mint Condition 045496710224 | eBay Gameboy Color - Purple Mint Condition 045496710439 | eBay
  7. When you say two schools what infrastructure setup have you got? Does each school have its only active directory server? Does each school have its own network domain? Do staff need to share files/data between the schools?
  8. I think Microsoft has just lost the USP of their Surface RT version; yes I know you need a 365 subscription to run Office on iPad, but in my current role working for a large computer/electronic retailer most people only purchase the MS Surface for the simple fact that it has office capability. It will not be long until the iOS versions of the office apps have full functionality (over the iteration of many releases I would imagine). This is a real win-win situation, a huge Apple fan myself I feel Microsoft is making real pace with Office and there additional software, yet they are loosing touch as Windows 8 does not know what it wants to be - a desktop or tablet OS. TL;DR: Office is great, especially now it's on iOS. Windows 8 and MS Surface are not great.
  9. Hey EDUGEEK'ers. I am about to embark on two great expeditions, I am leaving the comfort of university and have been recruited to work in the life long learning sector! I hope EDUGEEK will be a valuable source of technical information.
