All are welcome and just because people have retired or moved on from education, doesn't mean they suddenly have nothing to offer us - experience, views etc

Nichelle Nichols dead: Star Trek legend who played Lieutenant Uhura dies

Damm I paid £250 from Amazon for this earlier this year. Only annoying thing: 1) The fingerprint reset location means you can catch it easily. 2) The screen isn't easily readable in the sunlight

We're planning to go with Xibo, some reused TVs from some upgrades elsewhere and some HP USFF PCs brought from @ICTDirect_Dave. Testing has gone very well. Works exactly as designed. Using Windows and with GPOs etc I can tweak it as I want. As always with these things content creation is the biggest problem, which isn't an IT issue.

[free] Multiple Monitor types due to upgrades
DrBeaker replied to DrBeaker's topic in Classified Adverts
Update - Had the go ahead for this now. Waiting for our new monitors first, then I can sort this out and will post more details when I can. Bear in mind the fuel costs at the moment are a killer, if anyone close to the West Midlands wants some please let me know. -

I do recall doing our exams person's computer sometime in the past 6x months and finding this out the hard way. Think I updated it and it was fine. -

Interesting. Thanks for the heads-up. Will ask our team/staff tomorrow. -
Thanks. Ours is a rebadged RM Tutor so told them that and sent them the link to Netsupport doc themselves that I found. How well does it work out of interest please?

Yeah in one place we had Impero the same way ... When it worked....it worked well.

Hi All, We're hopefully upgrading some of our old computer monitors this summer. Which means we'll have a surplus of older monitor types we no longer need. They all work, simply surplus to our needs due to upgrades. Much sooner they be repurposed by other schools etc if they can instead of simply eWasting them. So are any schools in need of some monitors? Multiple different makes/models. Some only have VGA. Some have VGA/DVI All widescreen monitors There are various makes/models. However a lot of the same type of monitor - silver HannsG HW191D I believe.(https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000GYHS...v_ov_lig_dp_it) There's probably at least 30-40x maybe. Not sure of exact numbers yet, most are in used good condition. Would be collection only and some sort of paperwork for asset transfer would need to be signed. They'd be given as seen, no returns etc. However would anybody be interested in a collection of them? We're in the West Midlands, not far from Birmingham. I'd have to speak with our School Business Manager for their decision, but I'd imagine they might be free. Seems a shame for them to be simply disposed of otherwise.

Do either of you know if they have a Technician Console that IT can use to view all the IT rooms and computers? We have a rebadged Netsupport (RM Tutor) but being told there's no such thing, yet a quick Google search shows otherwise? Exactly. It's classroom management which is part of teacher standards for behaviour management = end of. I've been told by key staff students shouldn't be on game sites at all. Yet other teachers say "oh they can go on games if they've been good". Other teachers just let them go wild on game sites in the lessons with no controls. These people are also paid significantly more than support staff to control and manage the kids.

SIMS is definitely showing it's age with the lack of cloud option now.

Tell staff they need to convert their files to work on your system.

Hi, Anyone got any recommendations for a TV? Been a while since I purchased one. We need: 32" (due to space) Full HD Non-smart TV. Decent built-in speakers Option to connect to TV ariel in future Will be connected to a PC via HDMI/VGA for content etc. To be used for the staffroom, mounted on a stand. However all I can see these days is "smart" TV's, I can't seem to find a "dumb" TV. Don't need any of the smart features, just something that will display content etc. Thanks.

Impero - options for replacement

Is RM Tutor a rebadged/reskinned version of Net Support? -
If the school/SLT etc has decided on the move to another MIS, they'd better pony up the cost for the migration. Quite simple really. Those companies don't work for free, why would anyone expect them to help them move to another system for free? The money I've seen wasted on things, £150 is nothing. Bear in mind if YOU "try and do it yourself" and cock it up, they're gonna charge you anyway to fix it.

Everything before was sporadically poop, it's now simply more reliable poop instead.

FYI still no updates. So we have our answer on that one as to what it's actually for.

Hi, Do you still have a need for these monitors at all?

Meanwhile .... https://schoolsweek.co.uk/dfe-laptop-firm-profits-soar-by-nearly-50-to-207m/ Kinda unethical for ANY service company for the public sector to have made profit at the expense of kids education
