Hi, The APS software is installed on the Curriculum servers, which have an IP range looking like 192.168.x.x The Exams Officer sits on the Admin network, which uses an IP range of 10.15.x.x Now when anyone from the Admin network tries to access the site they receive a "You are not authorised to view this page" error. What do? Is there any way to enable access from mulitple IP ranges? Could I just change the restiction via subnet? How can I even get to changing how this is setup without a reinstall? Let me know if you need any more info and I'll try get it. Thanks for any help, Dylan.

Because you can only get that button once you have logged in. And to log in you need your current password - hence this self-service password reset for if it has been compromised/forgotten ... ahh right, thanks.

If they're on XP why can't they just right click on 'Change Password' button of the Ctrl-Alt-Del menu? Though I actually have that button disabled though GP.

We use Azzuri for our Network Support, their engineers are great. The only thing to be wary of is it's a big job they may contract out to a company we've not had much luck with, but if it's their inhouse guys they're good. Bit expensivr I understand.

I won't do it here either, but if someone happened to have some music in their User Area and wanted to burn it to CD, I'd sell them a blank, tell them it's naughty and push them out the door.

I just tried adding a new Content Set with just jpg to be blocked, and it didn't block anything. I had to select the image/jpeg option instead, that succeeded in blocking all jpgs.

I just created the following rule: Name: Block Extension Action: Deny Protocols: All Outbound Traffic From: Internal To: External Users: All Users Schedule: Always Content Types: Images This then stopped all image file types from loading, even for me. I assume if you create a new Content Type Set in your toolbox, and apply the Deny Rule to this, instead of a premade one, it would block those file types. You can enter the extension as opposed to using a listed MIME type I think, if this is easier/more customizable.

Ok so I managed to track this down in a help file: Windows Server 2003 R2 contains two product discs. Disc 1 contains Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1). Disc 2 contains the installation files for the Windows Server 2003 R2 optional components. Both discs use the same Product Key. If you have Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed, you will only need to install Disc 2. If you are upgrading and you do not have SP1 installed, you will need to install both product discs. Note If you do not yet have Windows Server 2003 SP1 installed, you can also download and install SP1 from the Microsoft Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=43106). You might want to do this if you do not want to install the integrated version of SP1 that is included on Disc 1. The integrated version is included within the operating system, and therefore, you cannot uninstall it. With a Windows Server 2003 R2 license, you can upgrade to Windows Server 2003 R2 if your computer is running one of the following operating systems: Windows Server 2003 with SP1 Windows Server 2003 without SP1 Windows 2000 Server Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 5 or later Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, with Service Pack 5 or later If I understand this correctly, it means I can upgrade 1 server per R2 license? Is that correct? As I'd only be adding the Disc 2 components, would it retain the Enterprise functionality even though it's a Standard R2? Confusing.

So we're running Server 2003 SP1 Enterprise on 5 servers. I want some of the features in R2. We have an R2 Standard CD and 1 license. Is it possible to get the Print Management functionality of SP2 onto the other servers? Or do I need to buy Enterprise R2? If so would it be a simple upgrade? Thanks.

Sorry I didn't explain why lol. Originally it was, as Geoff said, that it had settings not available anywhere else. While Norphy is correct that the templates may now be included in SP1 for Server 2003, other settings you may wish to add aren't, eg Office and custom adm's. While I suppose it would be possible to include these on the server, it's not really recommended to start doing that, always customize things off servers!

Make sure you create your policies from a machine running WindowsXP SP2. Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to say.

Couldn't think where else to look or ask so thought I'd ask the lovely, well informed people on Edugeek... Due to complicated reasons, I'll soon be leaving and rejoining Blueyonder. Now I'd like the new TVDrive and thought I'll pay the £10 subscription by dropping from 10Mb to 4Mb. On the website though under the list of comparisons between the two it only mentions newsgroups on the 10Mb connection. Now without newsgroups I may as well have dialup! Could anyone confirm that the 4Mb connection has free, unlimited access to the Newsgroups. Cheers.

Yeh I caught about 20 seconds of it. The guy off there was saying it was safe because kids can have it so only people they allow can see their profiles. What he didn't say was any pervert could pretend to be a child, befriend them etc etc. The other person on the program was saying they used it in their school to do international learning, ie study the lives and have friends in Praguay. Same as everything, it's only as safe and good as the people who use it.

I have a vLAN for each IT room. I then have an access rule in ISA2004 for each of these vLANs. The teachers can load up ISA Management and change the rule to Deny whenever they like. The Deny redirects to a little page with an 'Internet Disabled' message I made.

nnnnyyyeeeesssss... Not strictly true. Each GPO (Group Policy Object) encompasses a number of things including software installation (definitely not registry entries), security settings (who knows?), Internet Explorer settings (???) and policies (mostly registry entries I grant you). I believe it breaks down into, things that are under the Administrative Templates sections are the Registry Keys, settings in the other parts are not.

We use sophos, only real gripe I have with it is it's such a resource hog. We're talking 32Mb RAM constantly devoted to it.

The name it shows is the Display Name from within Active Directory.
