Hello, So we have windows updates configured so they run on Fridays at 10am - for some reason this then prevents manually checking for new updates? So say we've built a new machine and it auto joins to the domain etc. (MDT/WDS) we then press 'check for updates' and the error is 'Code 8024402C' every time! Any ideas how we can allow manual updating and keep the schedule for automatic? Thanks!!

Seems like this would be more for invoicing etc. Working in a school I don't think this would be very practical! An .exe application that links with AD would be great?

It's an idea - and I have done databases in the past like this, but I was never smart enough to work out how to make them work across multiple machines simultaneously!

Nothing particularly against web software, I just enjoy having an actual application to manage all of this?

As noted, we use Spiceworks for the staff ticketing etc. But I'd like a database in a sense for our own logging?

Hello, I'm looking for a bit of easy to use software to help record jobs. We use spiceworks for ticketing, but I want this more as just a personal record of jobs for managing our team. I want to have multiple instances of this software open at once, all connected to the same file of course and be able to input staff names, departments, comments etc. If anyone knows of any (preferably not web-based?) please post away!

Hi, I'm having some difficulties with spell checker in Microsoft office. I've recently imaged a classroom and installed Office 2010 and none have the spell check feature? It works when you press F7 (or whatever the key is) however it's not inline spell checking as and when you type? Anyone else had this issue or got a solution? Cheers!

Nope, one classroom I've just re-imaged and it's doing this problem still. It's as though it's a network account issue rather than a local issue?

Hi guys, I've sent out a group policy to disable personal use of themes and so that pupils can't adjust the colours etc. For some reason, some machines are defaulting to the classic explorer window and some aren't picking up on the aero setting etc. This is down to the user account it seems. However, under the student OU, the policy is set like this: Could anyone tell me why some are not complying with this policy??? Thanks!

We're creating a list of usernames for this intake year, however I can't figure out how to make it work. We have the following columns [TABLE=class: grid, width: 500] [TR] [TD]Forename[/TD] [TD]Surname[/TD] [TD]Intake[/TD] [TD]Registration[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]Child[/TD] [TD]One[/TD] [TD]14[/TD] [TD]7A[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]Child[/TD] [TD]Two[/TD] [TD]14[/TD] [TD]7D[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]Child[/TD] [TD]Three[/TD] [TD]14[/TD] [TD]7E[/TD] [/TR] [/TABLE] We then want a final column which follows this pattern: Intake Year, Surname, First Letter of the Forname So, for this list it would be 14OneC, 14TwoC, 14ThreeC What formula would I use to do this? Please help!!

Unfortunately this is not the case. - - - Updated - - - I'll try this - however it does work on any other machine, aside from my own. It's ALL USB drives on my machine?

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I'm having with removable media? Every time I plug in a USB stick, it crashes (restarts) the explorer process, and then in 'My Computer' shows like this: Upon double clicking the drive, I receive the error: Location is not available (titlebar) E:\ is not accessible. Access is Denied. Upon right clicking and pressing format, I then receive the error: Format IT-4GB (E:) (titlebar) You do not have sufficient rights to perform this operation. Any help would be greatly​ appreciated!!!

So we've got a trolley of iPads going out to pupils, the only problem is, there seems to be no way of restricting the set password feature? How has everybody else worked around this, because as soon as a pupil sets a password, we then have to format the iPad again! The obvious would be to ask staff to record who uses each iPad, but it's highly unlikely this procedure will be followed... Help!!

Hello, I'm having some peculiar problems with name resolution in AD/Quota. It seems a lot of the names are showing up as shown on the image attached: The same appears on NTFS permission setting, therefore I don't know who is who? Any reason why this is happening or anyone know a solution? Cheers.
