Thanks - this looks great! I have downloaded and had a play with it - it's perfect apart from not being able to save an animation once all the frames have been captured :-( Does anyone have any other free stop motion animation programs they could recommend?

Hi there, Clay Animator How To Site: Free Stop Motion Animator Program We have used this free program in the past for our stop motion animation filming. Recently migrated to Windows 10 and have just opened it up on one of the laptops to find that the program loads and is using the webcam on the laptop (as the little webcam light comes on) but the "live window" is just a black screen :-( I have checked that the webcam is working in another program - but I wonder if there is something that the ClayAnimator program needs in order to work with Windows 10. Does anyone else use this and can perhaps suggest what else I need to make it work - or is there any other easy to use free stop motion animation software that I could have a look at? Thanks!

Hi there, did this price include installation (and de-installation of existing kit), or is that just for the screen (and hopefully includes the SMART Notebook licence?!).

May I just check one thing about the Security Level Filtering? If I remove someone from the relevant Security Group (so they no longer have permission to the shared folder) should the related drive mapping be removed at next login, or remain visible but with no access to it? Thanks!

Ooo, I rather like that idea, as over the years I seem to have accumulated new drive mappings every so often and now have a bunch of policies for them. They all do the job, but I think it's time to revisit and have a tidy up. I might just be brave and start again (*wincing ever so slightly at the thought!) and go with your three pronged attack! :-)

Hi, I am setting up a few new Group Policy mapped drives on our mainly Windows 10 domains. I have certain members of staff who are in different OUs but who need access to certain mapped drives - so using Security Groups is the best way I can manage them (I think!). What is generally the best practice in terms of having the policy apply only for members of certain Security Groups? I can see that I can do this in Group Policy using either Security Filtering or Item Level Targeting but not sure why I would use one over the other? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for the info - would the Linx work with a different Bluetooth keyboard? As we are only buying one, I wouldn't mind paying for a nicer one if the Linx turns out to be our 'weapon of choice'!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have looked at the Lenovo Miix and also the Lynx 12x64 tablet. The best prices seem to be purchasing them with Windows 10 Home pre-installed. We have MS EES licensing here but I'm not sure what would be the best version to install on it (we run Win 10 Edu across the site). I have seen something called Windows 10 S but not sure what this is and what I would be best to install on one of these types of devices? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi there, Looking for recommendations for either a tablet or lightweight laptop for one of our staff who spends a lot of time out of our school, visiting other schools and needs a device to document minutes of meetings etc. She doesn't always get access to wifi - so am looking at something that would have 4G/LTE connectivity. It would also be something that we could encrypt - due to the nature of the information that may be recorded. Would also need to be able to connect to our Windows network at school so she can store documents etc on the network (and easily transfer between the two) - so that's why I am looking more at Windows based OS rather than Android ... but happy to be corrected! Surface Pro/Lenovo Miix/Samsung Tab A are the ones I have been starting to look at. Not sure whether a tablet or lightweight laptop would suit the job better. Budget-wise, I guess it would be something around £300 ... Any suggestions of what to look at or advice on what to look for/avoid would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi there Since upgrading my pc to Windows 10 I have been looking for a piece of DVD authoring software to replace the trusty old one I had before (which was old as the hills and I no longer have the installation media for!). I am looking for something (preferably free!) that is simple to use as I only use it once or twice a year - so something I can just pick up and use without having to scratch my head for too long to remember how it works! I generally need to burn two or three concerts to a DVD, so just need to be able to create simple menus to select which one to play and be able to edit the titles and choose which thumbnails that are displayed for each concert. DVD Styler is one I have come across while searching. Does anyone here use it? Is it any good? Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi there, I have a couple of laptops all running Windows 10 Edu build 1803 - none of them will run flash content even though Edge is saying that Flash is enabled, etc. I don't see the flash icon in the address bar asking to Allow Flash - I just get messages that it needs to be enabled or downloaded. I have applied all the available Windows Updates and also run the Edge reinstall/refresh command in Powershell - but still no flash :-) I have now installed Firefox and also Chrome to see if I can get flash working, but both of those say that either Flash is not installed, or requires an updated version. I have a couple of machines running 1709 that don't have this problem, so am wondering if it is something to do with the 1803 build? Would any of you have ideas on how I can troubleshoot/resolve this one? Thanks!

We were really looking for something more lightweight and portable than a standard laptop (and not as expensive as an iPad!) as our Support Worker is already laden with a lot of stuff to carry around with her! Hi there, We have a member of staff who visits lots of local schools providing support services to vulnerable children. At the moment she waits until she comes back to her 'base' school to type up her notes on a school computer. We are looking to see if there would be a suitable device (lightweight laptop, surface, tablet, etc) that she could take with her on these visits so that notes could be typed up immediately (with anonymised details to reduce risk). Main considerations are: Security - we need something that can be secured/encrypted as it will spend a lot of its time away from the base school. Portability - the support worker already carries a lot of kit with her, so a big heavy laptop probably wouldn't be suitable. Transferrable - whatever application is used to type up the notes on the device needs to be easy to transfer back to the main school computer for final typing up and insertion of names/other personal details. We have looked at Surface Pro (a bit too expensive), Windows tablet (can these bit Bitlocker-ed?), Android tablet (unsure of encryption options/transferability of documents). Does anyone have any other suggestions of a suitable device that we could take a look at? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, Before I go looking elsewhere, I just thought I would post on here to see if anyone has a couple of Ruckus 7363 APs they no longer use and would be happy to sell? I would like to replace one of our existing ones which every so often refuses to connect back to the ZD. A hard reset and a putty command to direct it back to the right place usually does the job - but replacing it would be a better idea! A second one to have as a spare would also be great (preferably with a power supply just in case!). Thanks!

I have come across this site ViewPure / Videos Without Clutter which allows you to watch YouTube videos in a clutter-free window - i.e. no comments, up next, etc. I am trying to find ways to allow staff restricted access to YouTube and this looks like it could help! Does anyone else use this site?

Thanks @enjay - yes, thinking about it ... you are right in your assumption that all teachers will probably be holding SIMS related exports, etc. We really also wanted to use it as an exercise to have a good old clear-out of archived files that people really do not need to hold onto (armed with retention policy) and to set out a way forward - just as you have described, with each teacher having a folder per academic year that can then be archived/deleted accordingly. Perhaps the way forward is to create the retention policy first and then have staff use it as an initial "spring cleaning" guide with a view to then using it as an ongoing "housekeeping" guide in future.

Hi there, We have been looking at designing an audit form that individual teachers can use to identify the PII data they currently hold in their "My Documents" area of the network. I imagine that they will all have copies of annual reports, class lists, IEPs, assessment data, check lists, photographs, etc - some possibly going back a number of years. We were thinking of issuing each teacher with an audit form onto which they can record what they currently have saved in their My Docs areas in order that we can "see" where all the data is in order to then be able to apply some data retention policies to - resulting in the deletion of quite a proportion of it I imagine! I have seen some data audit templates posted on here recently (thank you for sharing!) and am looking at whether I can use a similar type of document. Has anyone else gone down this route for individual teachers/admin staff?

How far would the GDPRiS cloud-based solution help us to get up and running with all this? Does it cover the whole spectrum of GDPR? Does it do anything that we couldn't easily do ourselves in school?

Yes, the users know that all .jpg files should be resized (bur rarely do they remember to do it themselves!) - so every term or so, I kindly do it for them!
