It's not such a case of snooping - more just having sight of what the pupils are storing in their Google Drives! Surely that's a valid thing to be able to do?! The documents might not necessarily contain anything inappropriate - just perhaps more off-topic from what they should be doing! @Danp - is that Securly Classroom you are using for scanning the pupil drives?

Hi, Is there a way to give teachers access to their students' Google Drive areas? This might not be required for all teachers - but perhaps just the one responsbile for Computing curriculum. The teachers are concerned that the students could be creating files/documents/etc that they have no sight of and they have some concerns around this. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks

Hi there, Our Google Workspace was setup during Covid as part of the DfE initiative. At the time, the reseller that did the configuration had a setup guide listing all the policies that had been configured on the Student OU as a "student lockdown policy" - a bit like we have in our AD GPO. Does anyone have an up-to-date list of recommended policies that they use for the Student OU, as I imagine there must have been some changes since then. We are primary - so not sure if that makes a difference to which settings are recommended. Thanks in advance 🙂

Ah .. no ... I have created links for specific email addresses only. So it looks like you can either share with specific people with no password on the shared folder - or with anyone and then password-protect it. We have dropped a password-protected .zip file into the share now as that was the alternative. It just makes it a bit more long-winded as you can't extract the .zip in OneDrive and need to download it first. But that's OK. Thanks for solving the password option puzzle! 🙂

Hi there, Just doing a bit of testing with some new Chromebooks and when logging in for the first time with a test student account, a "Control your data" box pops up with options and an "Accept and continue" button. Is there any way to stop this from happening with a setting or policy in Google Admin? Thanks

I've tried both the folder and one of the documents inside it - each time, I can only see the expiry date/time option but not the password option as shown in the screenshot Nicholas posted. And yes, it was an AI google search summary ... and it was all good until I couldn't see the option it mentioned - hence posting on here to get proper answers! 🙂

Hi, I have a OneDrive folder that we would like to share with an external party but would like to password-protect it. I have seen the following info regarding how to do this, but when I share the folder I don't seem to see the password protect option in the Link Settings: Steps to Password Protect a Shared Folder Open OneDrive in your web browser . Select the file or folder: you want to share. Click "Share" . In the sharing panel, ensure the permission level is set to Anyone with the link. If the option is still unavailable, check the link settings to ensure external sharing is enabled or disabled as appropriate for your account. Locate and click the "Set password": option. Create and confirm: your password. Click "Share": to send the link to recipients. Would someone be able to help me to see how to do this please? Thanks

Interesting thread... What do you all do about staff accessing their school email on their personal devices? Most of our staff have the Outlook app as not all staff have a school laptop/device. I have suggested to a number of Android users that they put their email app into a "Secure Folder" as an additional layer of security - not sure if that is something that Apple have too?

Thanks, that's useful info. These would be used as a class set, so not 1:1 - but I'm not sure if that's a better or worse situation! My gut feeling is that they would need to be quite sturdy and perhaps those two words "sturdy" and "touchscreen" don't go so well together! Would you be happy to share details of the supplier you used for the Lenovos?

Hi there, I am on the lookout for 14" Chromebooks - either new, or more likely due to budget constraints - refurbished. I can find loads of 11.6" refurbished but am struggling to find any with bigger screens - would anyone have any recommendations of where to look? Also, the subject of touchscreen Chromebooks has been raised ... does anyone have experience of these (good or bad!). Is it something that works well, or should I avoid the idea altogether! Yes, absolutely ... but we have also been in the position of being at the mercy of one single person .. who then disappeared! Although now with Google Sites that is less of a risk - but it still needs someone to "look after" it. Not sure anyone here would volunteer for that!

Yes, I hear you ... however the school was in a position many years ago of having a website that only one person was able to "look after". Hence the move to a mainstream provider - Primary Site. I really wouldn't want us to be in that position again!

Just coming back to this thread to see if anyone else here has had the migration email from Juniper? I'm currently looking into alternative website providers: Greenhouse, School Spider. Does anyone have any suggestions of others I can look at? Thanks 🙂

Well, if that is how it works ... they clearly have little or no understanding of how schools' budgets work! It's not OK to demand that we migrate ... at a cost ... with 5 minutes' notice!

The fact they have just rocked up in my Inbox with their migration "demand" is enough for me! I'm waiting to hear back from them as we have no money in our budget for this!

Hi there, I have just received an email this morning from Juniper advising me of my upcoming PrimarySite migration to Juniper websites CMS. Apparently they emailed me about it recently ... but it's the first I've heard of it! The email advises that the migration is required as our Primarysite website will soon no longer be supported and gives details of the costs of the migration (!!) - good luck with that guys, there isn't money in our budget for this! Has anyone else received something similar from them?

Hi there, We have a teacher who has been recommended by their OT to use a voice amplification system when teaching in the classroom. We ordered a Zoweetek amplifier with a headset from Amazon back in September which was great - but it has now given up the ghost and won't hold its charge any more, so will probably be sending it back. Has anyone else purchased something like this recently? I had a search back through and found some old posts from years ago but just wondered if there is something else on the market nowadays that might do the job. Any suggestions/advice would be welcomed! Thanks in advance.
