Hi all So we have a 2012 R2 file server where we create individual shares for each student. Up until last week, no problem, however as from last Friday, after i've created the share and I'm applying the security so the user has full control, I get the error message:- "An error occurred while applying security information to: 'Network share here' "The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation" We have changed nothing on the server in that time, other than deleting off old files and folders. If I try to take ownership with whatever account, I still get the 'file limitation' error. This server is on VM Ware vSphere client version 7.0.3.01400. Does anyone have any ideas before I have to think about building a new server? If I do, and I transfer the disk across (it's a D: drive), do you reckon it'll take the permissions across with it? Hi, we have quite a few pcs where the students have managed to wreck the front and pull it off, exposing the metal frame. We want to get some replacement cases but use the existing motherboards, PSU, etc. We don't need DVD openings as we don't allow access to DVD or similar. Does anyone have any recommendations? Many thanks to everyone for all of the suggestions. Now to see if the management will foot the bill for a decent one, as like some of you say, it's a lot of pc's to clean. Good idea re the face masks. Got myself a few PP3 masks at home so shall be using one of those, and weather depending, I think I'll do it outside! Cheers again to all. Regards Alan

Hi folks Just wondering what people use to clean the insides of their pc's. We've been given the unenviable task of cleaning out the insides of over 300 pcs to try and help them last a bit longer, and as you can imagine nowadays because of budgets, we're looking for the cheapest solution. So, what do people use? Just a duster, or a specific pc hoover. In the past we've used cans of air but because of the numbers of pcs you can imagine how many cans of that we'll use. I was thinking as the cheapest option to get an airbed pump to blow out the dust and just have a general hoover 'near' to suck up the dust. The pc's in our DT dept are particularly clogged shall we say!.. Cheers in advance. Alan

Down again for us this morning. Anyone else? I've sent Tom an email this morning and told him that his communication is ineffective to say the least, and he at least needs to send out a group email as a courtesy to advise of any downtime, or at least post something here so that word can be spread around. No doubt he won't do the latter because of the potential backlash!! If he's taking our money though, surely it's common courtesy to advise us somehow. Most of us are techies and we'll understand a lot of the time if there are technical issues, but just let us know!! Rant over, maybe time to seriously look for an alternative!

Hi folks, anyone having issues with this again today? We are getting HTTP 500.100 - Internal Server error: ASP error. (Contact web site administrator to let them know that this error has occured). So naturally I've sent Tom an email.

Hi all Creating a new W10 image on a VM to push out via SCCM to all pcs, however when I launch SUP2017 on the VM (and subsequent test pc which I have downloaded to) I get the message as per attached - SketchUp2016 worked fine, no problems so can't really think its a graphics hardware acceleration issue. Have also tried running in compatibility modes but still no luck. Anyone had same issues or got any idea? As ever, any help is greatly appreciated. Regards Alan

Uninstalling 4.7 and re-installing 4.6.2 worked for us. Obviously the MS update to .Net to update to 4.7 is the issue. Just a bit concerned that because MS has seen a 'potential' vulnerability in lower version of .NET (presume this is why they are forcing an update) that if we remove 4.7 and install a lower version we 'may' be putting ourselves at risk. What do people think? Worth the downgrade?

We are having exact same issues and we use versions 11, 15 and 16. Same on all of them. Suspected it was something to do MS Updates!!!
