Newish Civica Tills free to a good home
davidstallwood replied to davidstallwood's topic in Classified Adverts
Because their support was absolutely shocking & we wanted a cloud based system. Migrated to Vericool who have been brilliant! -
Hi, We migrated last week. Been very stressful I'm not going to lie. The 6 P's is the key to it all (perfect preperation prevents piss poor performance) training, training & more training. Timetabling has been a nightmare because we stayed with Nova-T. Absolutely get your timetabler to get trained on Etimetable in Bromcom and threaten violence if they say they only know Nova-T & can't use anuthing else! Good Luck!

Add New APs to Ruckus ZoneDirector 1200
davidstallwood replied to davidstallwood's topic in Wireless Networks
Hi Josh, thanks for reaching out. Our ZD1200 is running version 10.0.0.0 Build 1424. We currently have no support upgrade entitlement but need to add APs onto the system. According to the System Info we are licensed for 50 APs & currently have 48. -
Hi, We currently have a Ruckus Zone Director 1200 with about 50 x R510 Access Points. Does anyone know if it's possible to add newer APs to the system or is the R510 AP the most up to date it will take?

We have been with Civica for donkeys years & I hate them with a passion. Their support is absolutely woeful & they charge you for everything! Just looked at a cloud based solution from Biostore, VeriCool & Live Register. Biostore don't currently have a cloud based version they are saying it should be released this Sept or maybe later. Live Register are really expensive and the ongoing yearly cost is about £4k. The clear winner was VeriCool, their system looked really good and was half the annual price of Live Register.

Please Help!! Spiceworks Cloud migration not working
davidstallwood posted a topic in Cloud Services
Hi, We have migrated to Spiceworks Cloud from On-Premises and it is not working correctly. I think (please excuse my ignorance) the problem is when the SW-Auth_Setup.MSI was run the defaults were left which is email attribute = UserPrincipleName. Our Windows domain name is example.internal which is different from our email domain example.bucks.sch.uk When I look at the user's properties after they have raised a Spiceworks ticket their contact details are username.example.internal when obviously it need to be their correct email address. Some help would be welcomed please?? -
Google Drive File Stream being an absolute pain!
davidstallwood replied to davidstallwood's topic in Cloud Services
Works a treat, Many Thanks -
Hi, I have installed Google Drive Files Stream on all our staff PCs and created a desktop shortcut (dead easy all working!) The problem is it creates the following file structure C:\Program Files\Google\Drive File Stream\Version No\ e.g. I have the desktop shortcut for all staff as version No 55.0.3.0 but The GoogleUpdateTaskMAchine scheduled task running on every PC comes along & updates it to the latest version hence creating a new version folder and rendering my desktop shortcut useless. Any Ideas?

Hi, I am looking for recommendations for a decent network/classroom management client such as netsupport or RM Tutor? We did have netsupport but that is very expensive and I found it to be a nightmare to get working and was very flaky!! Cheers for any advice

AV installer recommended???

ProActive AV installed loads in all my schools and always done a great job! -
Hi, I have recently taken over running the IT dept at an average size secondary school (2500 students, 3 x Hyper Vs with 15 VMs, 350 Win 10 PCs & approx 75 laptops). I would like to ask fellow users what the best route for Microsoft licensing is. I have recently had licensing renewals from companies for thousands of £££s. What does everyone pay on average and for what? I look forward to your replies.

Hi, we are a secondary school with approx 1500 students and 300 PCs. I am looking at upgrading our existing infrastructure as all our existing fibres are OM1 and will never run faster than 1Gig and we are experiencing network issues and some switches are daisy chained off others and are sharing only a 1 gig link. Ideally I want to replace all the fibres with OM3 so we can install edge switches with 10Gig fibre uplink SFPs. What would you recommend we install in the main server room as a core solution where the 8 fibre cables terminate along with approx 120 local clients over Cat5e? We have three Hyper-V Dell Servers & a Dell SAN also located in that main server room along with our internet feed and a Netgear NAS. We also have a Ruckus wi-fi network covering the whole school and approx 50 Hik-Vision CCTV cameras running on the same network. Any ideas would be most welcomed?

Milton Keynes broadband situation?
davidstallwood replied to Vstar's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I support 10 sites across MK & they all have gone with E2bn. Best prices & Speeds. Apparently only 6 schools have gone with the ridiculous prices of the MK Council/Updata. I have dealt with Updata as I support a few schools across Bucks & they are without doubt the worse company I have ever dealt with!! -
