  1. How did you create your roaming profile?
  2. Roaming for everyone. I would try Mandatory or local for students. A lot less bother.
  3. Question was for 'the icttechnician' who started the post, I thought you were all sorted Liam?
  4. Are you using local profiles or Mandatory/Roaming profiles?
  5. That is disabled on all our workstations yet we still get random black screens.
  6. The problem with using the Powershell method of removing the apps is that they will re-install for each user when connected to the internet. This is well documented on Edugeek. Try using this method: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Removing-Built-in-apps-65dc387b?tduid=(2dd0756ece2649958563a3dc19361019)(256380)(2459594)(TnL5HPStwNw-wwzIT6MKFY.Bl9kyo6LqfQ)() https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mniehaus/2015/11/23/seeing-extra-apps-turn-them-off/ Also I think it is a better option to use folder re-direction for the Start menu and desktop.
  7. No the Group policy works fine it is the Start Menu XML that is normally the issue. Do you still have all the apps installed or did you remove them before you built your image. How did you create your Start Menu XML file?
  8. We moved away from Ranger onto a vanilla network. Basically created a new OU and then a brand new Windows 10 Group policy template for the computers and users. PM me and I will send a copy of ours over edited.
  9. Have you enabled 'Remove common program groups from Start menu' in Group policy. User Configuration, Policies, Administrative templates, Start Menu and Taskbar. Have you disabled Contana?
  10. Can you post the contents of our unattend file here. Also what version of WAIK are you using?
  11. Hi, Do any Office 365 admins have a DLP policy setup for profanity filtering. Just wondering if you can do it on the education exchange plan 1?
  12. We redid our local profile and that has practically stopped the black screen problem. We use Impero but do not put any exceptions in.
  13. How did you create your local profiles. We use local profiles and do not have any problems.
  14. What profiles are you using??
  15. Full 100% rollout on every workstation, even bootcamped all the Apple workstations as well. Stayed on 1511, no major issues apart from a couple of black screens on logon. Login speeds around 30 secs on first and 10-15 subsequent. Using local profiles.
  16. OK slighty mis-read it. Will take a look. What start menu errors are you getting as we are not affected by any start menu errors for staff or students.
  17. I think the Impero errors are a bit of a white elephant. We had 2 Staff laptops that had black screens today that do not have Impero on them. Also weirdly enough we have 80 Mac Mini's with Windows 10 in Bootcamp and have not had a single black screen. The plot thickens.
  18. I think it is personal preference. We use Education but kept on 1511 with the apps removed from the install.wim but we use edge and cortana. We did not install the 1607 update as it re-installed all the apps. I think any new updates now, like the creators update will not re-install the apps so will wait for that. But really if all you are going to use Windows 10 for is a basic Windows hosting OS for software then I think LTSB is fine. Only issue is only getting an update annually.
  19. Hey Timbo, Are you sure it was not after you disabled the 'Telemetry service' as our logon speed was significantly better in that the desktop and icons showed straight away and users could use the desktop instantly instead of a short delay after we disable it.
  20. Cheers for that. Will give it a try.
  21. Agree used to be different in Windows 7 but now Education is roughly the same.
  22. I removed all images from the 'User account pictures' and the user image still shows on the login screen on the anniversary update. How do you get rid of it??
  23. Out of interest why are you using Enterprise over Education or LTSB?

    Crashing

I would always do a fresh install. Remove the apps from the install.wim first.
  25. We have the same issue. Have to restart IE11.
