Hi all, Long time no visit! I've searched and searched but I've not found anything relevant to my query. Our school has used KKS (Keep Kids Safe) fro a long time now and we've been approached with an attractive offer from SIMS to take up their InTouch system. Main querioes are: what does In Touch do that KKS doesn't? What does KKS do that InTouch doesn't? Thanks in adsvance for your help!

Our Keep Kids Safe system is set-up for all staff in the school. The attendance team use the absence management part of the system to send absence messages. The non-teaching staff use the group messaging part to text parents about school trips, detentions, football practice, etc... The teachers use the community reach part of the system to text all other staff with any notices. Apart from that, I guess we're a pretty normal, non-innovative school!! We'd rather let other schools trial stuff and jump on board when it's proven to be effective.

We save all bits like this. You never know when it'll come in handy. Often if RAM has failed or a HD is on it's way out, we've used it to keep things rolling along until we can get the parts needed. Once or twice we've left it as it is, and things have worked fine.

We had a look at a lot of systems before settling on Keep Kids Safe. Voiceconnect was one of them, but we were met with indifference regarding their security policies... they just didn't seem that bothered that we were concerned! That's the last thing we need, as a school! I'm happy Keep Kids Safe came along, they understood that we needed to be 100% positive that the schools data was safe.

Only really when it's a snow-day or floods, we don't send one to everyone very often! IIRC, when we did phone-calls to parents (if we were snowed in, or for 1st day absence) and switched to Truancy Call we saved a lot of money, and now with Keep Kids Safe we save even more. I think it's because of the way Truancy used to charge for the phone calls.

I have just the thing... let me find it. Just installed it at home. Was originally a monitor for people with limited download allowance. But does a good job, as it plots over days, weeks, or months.

Far from it! I think the 'order' was maybe chinese whispers... I'm yet to have been consulted in it! With SP1 being released, it's speeded up (at least by 15% real-world apparently) so you think it may be viable? Our PC's have the guts to run it, I feel.

I've never heard of SchoolCOMMS? What's it like?

How did it go with the systems you put in place?

How're you finding it for use in schools? We've been 'told' that as from September we'll have to use Vista... though I don't know where this order has come from! No doubt someone who doesnt understand about the systems in our school!

We tried Truancy Call to send texts to parents, but it only let us send them about absence. Our new system works a lot better, in the respect that it lets us send whatever we want to whoever we want. It's called Keep Kids Safe.

We (well, the attendance team! ) found this annoying! We'd rather it had just contacted the Priority 1 and then told us whether it had been successful or not. This was one of the reasons we got rid, in the end.

Rather than starting a new thread, I'd just ask how it's going with Truancy Call? We swapped over to Keep Kids Safe recently because of the problems we've had with Truancy call.
