I cannot believe that Microsoft did this to me! It was all setup! I tried following the procedure on https://contosoedu.com/deploying-office-365-proplus-device-based-subscription-for-edu/ I get to step below it is greyed out and google tells me I need an Azure A1 premium licence, evidently I am tired but how do I get a dynamic group Click on Dynamic device members Add dynamic query

So never in my career have I experienced anything like this In 365 disabled the following POP blocked EWS blocked OWA blocked MAPI blocked IMAP blocked Active sync blocked Authenticated SMTP blocked To put it simply I can still send emails from the outlook application on the android phone. Get-CASMailbox test | select *EWS* EwsEnabled : False I am perplexed how can the mail account can still send and receive email? I even signed the user out of 365 on all devices and that had no effect. I need to ensure that the users cannot download any email to their devices for 2-3 months, something so simple is proving a perplexing! I saw the post online about the REST API and applied the blocklist to no effect https://practical365.com/clients/mobile-devices/outlook-for-ios-android-still-able-to-connect-after-disabling-activesync/

Thanks for you input on this, indeed the graphics card adapters need updating to resolve the bugs. We are coping with a restart of the wireless display box, which gets hot and freezes and unresponds, microsoft does not want to know. Lots of education to the teachers. Reducing the resolution on the Surface Pro laptops to 1080p as the default is insane, especially with the pro laptop (tablets) as they only have 4gb of ram. Two issues going forward, I am stuck with getting any connection for the wireless display adapters on the later versions of windows 10 I have managed to get 1809 working, when I was working on this a few months ago later versions of OS and driver combinations would not work!

replying on behalf of the OP @BKGarry What devices are you connecting with, we have Surface Pros with the Marvel Avastar latest version on the Surface Pro laptop but cannot get the latest version of the driver on the Surface Pro tablet to connect. We are having issues when the device cannot connect a restart of the Wireless Display Adapter and the laptop resolves this but you can imagine this is not great to start the lesson. There is an issue as the SP laptops can display greater than 1080p and when set to display nicely on the laptop/tablet these devices then are connected to the WDA and DVD playback becomes buggy. I think we can script the change of display rate. We are having issues where I inherited a situation where WAPs are cited too close to the device too, so not complex

Hi, Are there any useful alternatives to adobe acrobat pro/dc that allow creation of active pdfs and will not cost the earth to deploy? I have googled it but wanted some recommendations to look at... Regards, Darren

I am looking at this and it looks straightforward. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/ITOps-Talk-Blog/Step-By-Step-Migrating-The-Active-Directory-Certificate-Service/ba-p/697674. However in practice these things create glitches. Only see a rollback in putting the CA back on the original 2012 vm is this the rollback? What happens when I uninstall the CA and then get to a stage where there is an issue after migration? Will this affect users if it goes wrong? I see issued certificates and there are only a couple that are due a request in the next few days. Would this be a premier support ticket and a couple of users will only be affected. I am weighing up if I need to bring in the outside support. Regards, Darren

Thank you I had the same conversation about the popups too! I have whitelisted the site and bypassed https inspection and still get the error 404 error is a sMHW 404 page on their servers, so I am on their servers. What would help is if they could assist in diagnosing the issue on their end but they just ignore that question. 1 week on, no diagnostics information taken 1 week on, no fix given I am at the mercy of a what I have experienced is a carefree support team..

Hi I have had a week of email ping pong with Show my homework as in Edge and Internet Explorer the 365 login SSO is redirecting users to a 404 Error page on SMHW webservers. Works in chrome though and the only support I can receive at the moment is to contact the Network Manager... which is me! They have not collected any diagnostics and not engaged in the problem, it seems like they are looking at it from afar and guessing. Are there any local ie settings that is needed for SMHW as with onedrive or 365 azure sign on. Anyone got any tips for getting it working as support cannot help. It is very sad as we are professional school and with these problems they cannot be resolved quickly it does not look good to our community! Regards, Darren

Good idea, the integration services were upgraded to v 9 so cannot go back. (plus our only veeam licenced host is at the primary school over a 1gb internet link)

Hello, We have a brand new 2019 hypervisor however any 2012 vms with domain services won't backup so I have moved the Domain Master to 2019 and now I have to move the Certificate Services to 2019 Server. It all seems straightforward, backup cert store uninstall the role and install the certificate services on a 2019 VM How do I ensure that nothing breaks ie wireless, coming up to start of term in a couple of days I could take see some problems should anything break. I spoke to MS and we can have a new name of the server. Any tips on a thorough auditing of certificates use on site in the light of no documentation being left Many Thanks Darren

Looking at the same myself, I would go for Hyperconverged I am looking at the WSSD only as the technology is in its infancy in comparison to a traditional builds and want the support. Implementing RDMA using RoCE is a little more costly to implement as Mellanox cards seem to be the go to cards to use, iWARP is recommended for small to medium scale solutions which is how to bring down the initial build costs.

Indeed we are hoping that Veeam will be 2019 ready by the summer otherwise it will be 2016..
-
Thanks! Indeed I think I need to bite the bullet and go with 2019. The HyperV system is on a seperate domain to live Vms and wanted to remove the HV domain to simplify things but this maybe too much ! I think that I will go Converged rather than hyper converged as it is too difficult to plan and set in stone as I have only been in post 3 months..

I am planning in the summer to have a Storage Spaces Direct server (hopefully build the system) and then take our existing VMs from a HyperV 2012 hypervisor to a new 2016 hypervisor cluster on the storage spaces direct volume. As we have no downtime in the summer I see it somewhat a straightforward to remove the Vm from the 2012 cluster and move it across to the 2016 cluster then upgrade integration services. Are there any pit falls I am missing? Darren

So quotes are coming in to replace our SAN and hosts and I wanted to put into our options of a storage spaces direct solution to replace our hosts and san. I have a few companies working on designing a solution so need to decide which solution I am going to go with! We don't have downtime over the summer as we have summer school and i think that running 3 hosts with 6x4TB drives with a 1Gb of SSD is a good option to stay with a HyperV solution in 2016 rather than spec a system that has Vsphere and have downtime to convert the servers to vmdx files. In the back of my head I am not 100% confident that a hyperv storage space direct solution with hyperv is as rock solid as a Vsphere solution. however if we purchased support directly from Microsoft that would enable us to sort out any disasters. I think that a SAN is overpriced and only has a 5 year life at the moment and storage spaces would enable us to go forward. I would love to hear people's opinions !

Indeed it well be but where I have no thoughts. The first logfile states that the driver installs. Which is why I am perplexed, I may have finally met something that i cannot fix!

Hi, It was captured on a similar model stone pc. I am deploying Windows 7

Thank ITJ2015 The drivers supplied would not import into WDS so I injected them into the image. I have now pulled the drivers from the image and obtained updated drivers from the intel website which are loaded into WDS. I have added the setting to my autounattend and it still is not loading the drivers, it is stating an error see below true [Device Install (DiShowUpdateDevice) - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1912&SUBSYS_86941043&REV_06\3&11583659&2&10]>>> Section start 2018/02/26 10:44:49.169 cmd: "C:\Windows\system32\mmc.exe" C:\Windows\system32\devmgmt.msc dvi: {DIF_UPDATEDRIVER_UI} 10:44:49.169 dvi: CoInstaller 1: Enter 10:44:49.169 dvi: CoInstaller 1: Exit dvi: Class installer: Enter 10:44:49.169 dvi: Class installer: Exit dvi: Default installer: Enter 10:44:49.169 dvi: Default installer: Exit dvi: {DIF_UPDATEDRIVER_UI - exit(0xe000020e)} 10:44:49.169 ndv: {Update Driver Software Wizard for PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1912&SUBSYS_86941043&REV_06\3&11583659&2&10} dvi: Set selected driver complete. dvi: {DIF_SELECTDEVICE} 10:44:50.823 dvi: CoInstaller 1: Enter 10:44:50.823 dvi: CoInstaller 1: Exit dvi: Class installer: Enter 10:44:50.823 dvi: {Build Driver List} 10:44:50.823 dvi: Searching for hardware ID(s): dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&subsys_86941043&rev_06 dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&subsys_86941043 dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&cc_030000 dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&cc_0300 dvi: Searching for compatible ID(s): mbusvideo.inf_amd64_neutral_8f9a8242d3699a44\wvmbusvideo.inf' ([strings.0409]) sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE} 10:44:50.838 sig: Key = wvmbusvideo.inf sig: FilePath = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wvmbusvideo.inf_amd64_neutral_8f9a8242d3699a44\wvmbusvideo.inf sig: Success: A valid signature was found in an installed catalog sig: Cat: 'C:\Windows\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\Microsoft-Hyper-V-Guest-Integration-Drivers-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514.cat' sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE exit(0x00000000)} 10:44:50.854 inf: Opened PNF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\display.inf_amd64_neutral_ea1c8215e52777a6\display.inf' ([strings.0409]) inf: Opened INF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\atiilhag.inf_amd64_neutral_0a660e899f5038a2\atiilhag.inf' ([strings.0409]) inf: Opened INF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\rdvgwddm.inf_amd64_neutral_dd691eae66f3032d\rdvgwddm.inf' ([strings.0409]) sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE} 10:44:50.901 sig: Key = rdvgwddm.inf sig: FilePath = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\rdvgwddm.inf_amd64_neutral_dd691eae66f3032d\rdvgwddm.inf sig: Success: A valid signature was found in an installed catalog sig: Cat: 'C:\Windows\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\Microsoft-Windows-RemoteFX-VM-Setup-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514.cat' sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE exit(0x00000000)} 10:44:50.916 inf: Opened PNF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\custm64.inf_amd64_neutral_f49dee0e391073c8\custm64.inf' ([strings]) sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE} 10:44:50.916 sig: Key = custm64.inf sig: FilePath = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\custm64.inf_amd64_neutral_f49dee0e391073c8\custm64.inf sig: Catalog = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\custm64.inf_amd64_neutral_f49dee0e391073c8\custm64.cat sig: Success: File is signed in catalog. sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE exit(0x00000000)} 10:44:50.932 inf: Opened PNF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_neutral_569d0fbc99f6201c\igdlh64.inf' ([strings]) sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE} 10:44:50.932 sig: Key = igdlh64.inf g: Success: File is signed in catalog. sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE exit(0x00000000)} 10:44:50.979 inf: Opened INF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh.inf_amd64_neutral_54a12b57f547d08e\igdlh.inf' ([strings.0409]) inf: Opened INF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_lh.inf_amd64_neutral_bc69f20e3115af59\nv_lh.inf' ([strings.0409]) inf: Searched 8 potential matches in published INF directory inf: Searched 35 INFs in directory: 'C:\Windows\inf' dvi: {Build Driver List - exit(0x00000000)} 10:44:51.057 dvi: Class installer: Exit dvi: {DIF_SELECTDEVICE - exit(0xe000020e)} 10:44:51.072 ndv: {Update Driver Software Wizard exit(000004c7)}<<< Section end 2018/02/26 10:53:23.923<<< [Exit status: FAILURE(\\)]

Good Morning, I updated our WDS image with the drivers for a new batch of computers. The VGA drivers complained so I used DISM to inject them into the image. However when I reimage the computer I am still getting the Standard VGA drivers. I have looked through in great detail all the logfiles generated by imaging and in setupapi.dev.log I get this. I interpret this as during imaging the driver is installed, however the Standard VGA adapter driver is installed. inf: {SetupCopyOEMInf: C:\Windows\INF\oem29.inf} 16:13:08.648 inf: Driver Store location: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_neutral_569d0fbc99f6201c\igdlh64.inf inf: Published Inf Path: C:\Windows\INF\oem29.inf inf: {SetupCopyOEMInf exit (0x00000050)} 16:13:08.648 dvi: Searching for hardware ID(s): dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&subsys_86941043&rev_06 dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&subsys_86941043 dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&cc_030000 dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&cc_0300 dvi: Searching for compatible ID(s): dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912&rev_06 dvi: pci\ven_8086&dev_1912 dvi: pci\ven_8086&cc_030000 dvi: pci\ven_8086&cc_0300 dvi: pci\ven_8086 dvi: pci\cc_030000 dvi: pci\cc_0300 inf: Opened PNF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_neutral_569d0fbc99f6201c\igdlh64.inf' ([strings]) sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE} 16:13:08.648 sig: Key = igdlh64.inf sig: FilePath = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_neutral_569d0fbc99f6201c\igdlh64.inf sig: Catalog = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_neutral_569d0fbc99f6201c\igdlh.cat sig: Success: File is signed in catalog. sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE exit(0x00000000)} 16:13:08.648 dvi: Selected driver installs from section [iSKLD_w7] in 'c:\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_neutral_569d0fbc99f6201c\igdlh64.inf'. dvi: Class GUID of device changed to: {4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}. dvi: Set selected driver complete. Hi I have spent some time researching how to create a sandbox environment to do some backups testing (arcserve) and am still confused. If I remember (I had done something like this a while ago) all I need is a separate vswitch with a vmkernel to the management network and a port group that is routed to the isolated VLAN I remember that the VLAN routed to the core but only has layer 2 routing setup, so that this vlan cannot talk to the production network. Thinking logically about it the backup server needs one of its' network cards to talk to the management Vlan? There is no need for communication to the other networks as the console can provide access to the VMs OS. Has anyone else setup this sandbox environment for backup testing Regards, Darren
